I remember this game very well, I platinum it in September of this year and it was a nightmare. A friend of mine, who had already played the whole series, convinced me to buy it since it was discounted at a ridiculous price. After about 2/3 days I start having headaches due to the motion blur of the game (especially when climbing the rock walls through roots) and the visual all busted. After about 2 weeks we finished the game and I got angry, because I told my friend to wait before seeing the last cut scene, so that I could get all the missing trophies but nothing, he convinced me to watch it anyway and, according to him, “even after the last cutscene you can still go back to the last checkpoint”. So eventually I found myself, alone, having to do everything I play AGAIN. I was so frustrated that about a year later I convinced my friend to play together again because he had tricked me; after less than 1 week he decided to abandon me again and it was again just myself and Xian wandering around that damned island. Luckily I finished the game but first I had to deal with a thousand bugs regarding bugged collectibles

The problem with Dead Island was the vast disconnect with the trailer, the trailers paint it as some dark and seriously morbid, depressing story.. And then the game was beating zombies with car batteries and pool toys.
Dead island 100% changed the game for zombie games, and was super fun, and ended up giving birth to one of the best zombie games ever ( dying light ) and idk how people hated it so much… many people grew up on the game and it was amazing, and me and my entire friend group have played it on every platform, and still do to this day… also for “so many things to hate” and “not being a good game” everyone has played it, and everyone talks about it to this day so.
Yeah the story be kinda meh and the games are glitchy, those glitches can be very funny as shit sometimes and don’t really effect the gameplay much. The gameplay is just fun for obvious reasons, if you got the mindset of a Neanderthal like me, you’ll like the violent dismemberment stuff.
Great Video as always! I thought one of the best parts of the First game and DLC, was using the right stick to swing your weapons left, right, up, down, and I believe you do more damage that way too. ehh, anyways, I'm am excited for the 2nd game to come out.

Okay that explains it. I’ve always wondered why they called it “dead island 2” when riptide existed. Just corporate greed fucking over the game company
Not gonna lie. If dying light didn't come out this was gonna be the best zombie game in the gaming history. When i was a teenager i played dead island first than played mirror's edge. Than thought to myself. "Man if only there was a game combine this 2 games, damn.. that would be awesome". After that they announced dying light. I remember the times trying to play dying light like 15 20 fps. i was searching the whole youtube for fps boost :p good times.. good times.. oh and yeah, when i played left 4 dead for the first time (that was my first zombie game) i was so scared i asked my grandma to sleep with her. she said "You wanna sleep with me because of that game isn't it ?" I was too embarrassed to tell her the truth. I miis my granma so f*cking much... respect and love your elders, when they gone they gone..
Nah I remember most people being being pretty happy with Dead Island Riptide when it released. I never played it myself but I remember all my friends playing it and bunch of old major UA-camrs playing it. Tbh it would've been better if it was just a dlc than actual stand alone game.
Played both and honestly i didn't find them that bad, yea sure the story was kinda uninteresting and some of the character were kinda generic but i loved the whole tropical island vibe and the fact each character had specialised skills made the game pretty enjoyable. The weapon variety in melee weapons was decent but the firearm ones was severely lacking i just wish the new upcoming game improved upon all these aspects but overall a pretty fun experience nonetheless

I love that Kev has moved on to other games, but still wears his Valkyn Skoria helmet.
Kevin missed opportunity is not playing jhon he's one of the most fun characters
they are actually very good games. there's good reason why people want DI 2 so badly. hopefully the up and coming one we saw at state of play finally gives us something worth the wait
I found this game fun but I played it when my fear tolerance basically didn't exist so it scared the shit out of me and I stopped playing
Try again
@@orionrei I will eventually after seeing this video but for now I'm saving up to pre-order dead island 2
I personally won't recommend preordering any modern games.
@@blessanabey8386 fair but I'm still going to
@@Ohm_Kazhbu I ain't forcing nobody, your money your life.
I went to buy this game the day it came out which was the day before my 18th. The game is R18+ in Australia so I bargained with the cashier as she took my id. She let me get it nice lil memory and early present to myself.
My friends and i are hyped for the new dead island that we recently started playing dead island again and we've been having a blast playing the game
Literally bought this and the original for like... $5. They were bundled together and on sale not too long ago and thought... Why not?
Now I know what to look forward to.
yeah same i spent like £4 on the definitive collection. played dead island but not riptide lol.
Same, it was on Steam. Still looks gorgeous and you dont have to have a 2000 dollar pc to run it!
Welp prepare for psycopathic spinning doors around safehub 2

"What did you do?"
*Casually throws an electrified grenade in knee high water.
The problem with Dead Island was the vast disconnect with the trailer, the trailers paint it as some dark and seriously morbid, depressing story..
And then the game was beating zombies with car batteries and pool toys.
This game just felt like a dlc but they cut it last minute to make it a separate game
I never played this game because I was still too busy destroying evil Space aliens with Isaac Clarke and the plasma cutter. lol 😂
1:20 hold up, goat simulator parody... hold my beer pause the video i have to see that
Dead island 100% changed the game for zombie games, and was super fun, and ended up giving birth to one of the best zombie games ever ( dying light ) and idk how people hated it so much… many people grew up on the game and it was amazing, and me and my entire friend group have played it on every platform, and still do to this day… also for “so many things to hate” and “not being a good game” everyone has played it, and everyone talks about it to this day so.
i loved it but it was kinda generic and janky af, and the blur when you run jesus
I loved it classic zombie fun
Yeah the story be kinda meh and the games are glitchy, those glitches can be very funny as shit sometimes and don’t really effect the gameplay much.
The gameplay is just fun for obvious reasons, if you got the mindset of a Neanderthal like me, you’ll like the violent dismemberment stuff.
It's like old kung fu movies who are kinda bad but actually not they are not to serious and simply entertaining
No matter what that dead island trailer music will always be one of the saddest beautiful piece of music ever
Loved the dead islands. Games actually gave you a challenge while remaining fresh and playable
Great Video as always! I thought one of the best parts of the First game and DLC, was using the right stick to swing your weapons left, right, up, down, and I believe you do more damage that way too. ehh, anyways, I'm am excited for the 2nd game to come out.
I loved dead island and can’t wait for part 2. I have yet to play riptide and just seeing many of the npc characters eyes and faces says, I need this game in my life.
Kev's friends trying to hide co-op games from him
I think everyone can agree that both dead islands stories was horrendous but the gameplay is awesome
Still one of my favorite franchises as far as zombie games fun as hell can't wait for the second
This game series was a lot of fun back in the day and I don't care who disagrees, but Sam B's song, "Who do you voodoo, bitch" is a classic of our time.
Would actually love to see more of this
Compared to a lot of games that came out this generation this games pretty good
I loved this game the Katanas were my fav weapon and my fav character was John Bc he could run and demolish zombies
We never did find out why that island was so dead
hope they still got these vibes in 2 cuz thats what made this game
I'm stuck in the room , just like real life lol 🤣
This is one of my favorite games, both Dead Island games are very close to my heart
I remember how getting Co Op to work was like winning the jackpot. Especially with 3 people
I recently finished playing this for the first time. I went with Punchy McKick guy 😅
Sam B. got the fang that go bump in the night!
Jank but a surprisingly good melee game. Can be pretty difficult playing solo. Also propane tanks can be blown up by throwing weapons.
Phillip's voice saying dammit Beavis without even having to introduce himself
Loved all those games great times even though it they weren't always the best
Three Sam B's make me hear "who do you voodoo." So much more then I regularly hear it in my mind
YES! finally a worthy game
i'm so happy kev referenced new world aha... hopefully he tries out the new update when it drops. thanks for bringing back some nostalgia with the dead island games, etc!
Used to play this as a kid.
So essentially what happened was Dead Island Riptide was meant to be a story dlc but whoever was calling the shots was extraordinarily greedy and just had it sold as a seperate game.
Okay that explains it. I’ve always wondered why they called it “dead island 2” when riptide existed.
Just corporate greed fucking over the game company
I really wish you had all picked the new character his kicks are OP and hilarious.
My favorite part of riptide was doing the infinite wepon glich on the ps3
I still got it on my ps3
I loved this game as much as the first one. Looking forward to dead island 2.
I never really enjoyed riptide even though it’s copy and pasted from the first game
@@snugkhan5149 ok
The first part is way better for start than the Riptide. It's a clunky mess but really fun in co-op
I think Dead Island was groundbreaking. It wasn't by any means generic.
I was hoping you would end up playing one of the dead island games, happy to see it bro
"If a game does decently well it must get a sequel" *cries in Days Gone
Days gone was not even close to a decent game. Ignoring everything else wrong with the game it was a huge snoozefest
Nah I remember most people being being pretty happy with Dead Island Riptide when it released. I never played it myself but I remember all my friends playing it and bunch of old major UA-camrs playing it. Tbh it would've been better if it was just a dlc than actual stand alone game.
Pepole disliked dead island riptide?im honstky surprised I found the game mildly amusing
And just when I'm playing dead island 1 right now and suddenly this video appears. No doubt a rare coincidence indeed.
