Fantastic recording. You really have a great reproducer that catch every single detail of the orchestra. Nothing that can compare with any digital recording. Thanks again for sharing them. Honestly with your Vynil recordings, you open my appetite to know any new or old piece on Vynil Sounds. Sometimes I don't get the enthusiasm to hear a new piece cause the digital sound does not make me happy at all...And this it does...Valid to any video you uploaded here...😀

I was lucky to attend a Klemperer Concert when I was 17, in 1962 at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, with the Philadelphia Orchestra: Bach 1st Brandenburg Concerto, Mozart Jupiter Symphony and Beethoven 7th Shmphony.

Just magic!!! Thank you for introducing me to a stunning Klemperer recording!! I put this performance of "The Great" together with Furtwängler's majestic rendition...even if the two are almost opposite!! This one has a very steady and flowing rhythm, while the other is based entirely on subtle changes of speed according to the mood of this or that particular section...and yet..both performances work incredibly well, both are true, genuine masterpieces!!! (This one is also incredibly well recorded, kudos to EMI sound engineers!!)

Thank you for your comments! My father introduced me to this recording (on a mono Columbia disc) many, many years ago. This stereo version comes up really well - as you say the EMI engineers at the time produced a great sound. The only other version I have of this is Roger Norrington's London Classical Players (on CD) - a very different feel to this, rather light and missing the majestic sweep of Klemperer here.

@@ClassicsAndVinyl I sometimes wonder whether the mono recordings of the pre stereo era were not better than the later Stereo remakes. EMI made speakers at the time. They advertized them as having superior transient response. Is it possible that better Transient response could achieve what Stereo was trying to do ,i.e. provide sepatation between instruments?

@@joedeegan3870 Mono recordings can certainly sound very good, and good speakers will enhance whatever is played through them.

Fantastic performance and amazing recording, in the 60s EMI was clearly at his best, unfortunaly, many of those amazing recordings where very poor presented on the early CD remasterings, but this record sounds wonderful.

Thank you for your comments! These 1960 EMI recordings are really quite special ;o) A "golden age" of the gramophone!

I hope you'll share the 1962 Klemperer Mahler 4th if you find a good copy. I recently bought a NM US Angel with a similar sound quality. The early 60's Scranton Capitol pressings were quite good.
