this laptop has many issues, i know a few people who returned this because of VERY inconsistent problems, be it touchpad, windows, drivers and what not. A quick google would show these as well, I wish reviewers also had a section called 'prominent issues'. Either way thanks as always for the reviews.

CAMM2 64GB costs over £700 in the UK for a Dell board, and that is for 4800 speed. Crucial is sold out for the higher speeds. The problem with CAMM2 is that it is much more expensive than alternatives. If you want to upgrade from 32GB to 64GB, you have to buy the 64GB and try to resell your 32GB, as you cannot simply add 32 GB. So, like with whatever laptop you buy, if you follow common sense logic, buy the new one. most laptops can be used based on your perception of the next 3-5 years of personal use, as CAMM2 will not be the solution in the near future. Most people buy modular RAM, to buy the least and upgrade cheaply. This model is £2350 in the UK with those specs, so it's hard to recommend outside of a sale.
Im not sure, that you can get a Core Ultra 7, RTX 4060 16" laptop for this price at all, unless you make significant sacrifices to the chassis or maybe the screen.
@@NotebookcheckReviews i got a Thinkpad T14s Gen 5 few weeks ago, for around 1200EUR, and it was a joke for the price, even though it was specked out. I can't decide between previous version of this P1, 2024 Asus G16 with OLED, 2022 Asus X16 with miniLED and Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition. I know, it's all over the place. But for now the cheapest (Yoga) option seems most user friendly - keyboard, weight, battery, screen, touchscreen and size.
All pretty solid options, I would even consider the Yoga Pro 9 as well. I am currently working on a video comparing the Yoga to the G16 ... might help you a little ...
Yup, Yoga Pro 9 seems perfect on paper, but user feedback in regard to battery is so so. Moreover I couldn't find a discount for the 32gb version (EU). Neither for the Legion 7. Idk, but simply being able to run Cyberpunk or Death Stranding on e eGPU blew my mind. And Lenovo keyboards are unbeatable (in G16 it's hard to even see the letters without the backlight).
I've owned the gen6 P1 with an RTX 4090 and it was very good, better than this gen7 which is a step backward in my opinion. I've recently sold it and switched up to a Razer Blade 16 with the same GPU, though, to have more wattage on the GPU (P1 was limiting it to 80W to prevent overheating as it's such a slim chassis).
I had a battery drain problem after installing windows in my P1 Gen 6. After I left it to hibernate the battery showed 95% and couple minutes later it showed a critical level. Idk if it's because it was a warehouse leftover one (though new) or just a bad apple. I might give it another try though - size and build quality is excellenr, with no gamery bs. Mine has rtx A2000 though. I have 1 more week to decide. Playing around with the bulky X16 now.
QHD IPS? Thought QHD and above were Samsung 120Hz OLED. It seems the audio port is headphones only. I can't even get to recognise my Sony levalier mic.
@NotebookcheckReviews on T14 and P14s realtek audio console detected it as speaker. On old Dell and Lenovo which had configurable audio input or output ports within Dolby or creative audio settings app it's detected properly and works.
Wow! they put this ugly camera island (which also ruined X1 Carbon design) to P1. Congratulations to lenovo they kill ThinkPad design again. After 7 years of following IBM design traditions I almost believe in them)
@@NotebookcheckReviewsit’s breaking the sleek black ThinkPad design language, but I guess one could get used to it over time. The real dealbreaker is the removal of trackpad buttons and high end GPU options such as the 4090. That’s why I’ll ignore this gen and stick to the previous P1 gen6.
Got one last week, but it has a problem with the screen. It is flickering in the 165hz mode, but not in the 60hz. Does anyone have an idea oder some tips for fixing this problem?
Might be worth if all of your drivers are up to date. Check your windows update (dont forget the advanced updates), see if there is anything in Lenovo's Vantage App and last but not least see if your Nvidia drivers are updated. Yes because it is a laptop. You have to consider not just performance but formfactor, build quality, battery life, keyboard, display and many other factors. Just watch the video.
