Yeah there is some modulation on Paul's Vocals here. Might be the main vocal bounce onto a second track 30ms ahead of the original vocal track and stereo panned.

I don't think there are 3 guitars. I think Paul plays rhythm and George plays lead. John played bass. I think then george overdubbed another bass and later still Paul added bass. george plays lead here. I heard an interview where Paul went track by track and he said the song was carried by [ something I didn't understand(inaudible)] and Georges guitar. Plus when the solo comes in the main lead stops. you don't hear it in the backround. George went right into the solo from playing that lead riff.it's not an overdub over the lead guitar

@@secondline03 In this song, the three Ones (Paul, George and John) played drums. Paul in the main rhythm, John and George did some drum fills, you clearly hear it's an overdub. That's why it was kind of "weird"
He would have done a hell of a lot more than them with it! The drumming is very lame, to say the least. You could often hear the hi-hat and ride cymbal going at the same time. It would have been an excellent demo to present to Ringo to do a proper job had he not walked out on them. I think he would have been rolling all over the toms on this, being the precision rock and roll drummer that he was.
Well, Ringo got to play a live version of Back In The USSR with the Beach Boys many years later. You might find it on UA-cam, It's really nice to hear.
The drumming works for the song, but I'm still baffled, indeed astonished that the other 3 continued recording a driving ROCK song without their drummer!
I think they were just relentless! They often recorded with whoever was in the studio that day. But they really miss Ringo on this song, that's for sure!

Each one had to pull it off alone after 1970...one of the reasons it was such a shame they had split, the voices missing being the main tragedy...Ringo came in and helped George and John with drums several times. Paul played most ofthe instruments on 'Band on the Run' before the overdubs, Lennon and Harrison could also play all the instruments if they had to, obviously it was easier with several session musicians. Klaus Voormann did an okay job of it becoming Paul for John and Ringo, without the virtuosity or singing.
Ringo left for 13 days before the white album sessions started Paul does play drums on this song but they realized they needed Ringo for the album and begged him to come back and he agreed
Love seeing George on drums--he was so often being shunted off by then. But 3 tracks to try to = Ringo shows up pretty starkly...he was needed as the band realized. George too was an essential member but by the time he left, and by the time JPR were trying to fetch him back, things had gotten too far out of hand. Very, very sad for music history & Beatles fans but necessary for George's sanity

Is there any chance of just having the bass on its own from what you've got? There are other isolated bass tracks for USSR on UA-cam but they're not that clear, this one could be with all the other instruments taken off. Cheers 👍

again what i had read is that George plays the main bass and John can be heard in the refrain. paul cleaned up gaps and errors. Paul was busy with piano and drums. but there are 1 or 2 rhythm guitars that I didn't know about so who the hell knows. George plays lead including the solo. The last mandolin like phrase might be paul

That isolated drum track is trippy. The snare beats almost have an electronica “scratch” sound to them.

George plays the fender stratocaster or the red sg gibson guitar. He recieved the les paul from eric a week later.

Who plays what bass parts in this? Because from what I’ve heard there are 3 basses in this. One that plays slower single notes (probably Paul) and another bass that plays faster (John?) and the other I can’t hear
Yes, there are three bass, george john and paul
again what i had read is that George plays the main bass and John can be heard in the refrain. paul cleaned up gaps and errors. Paul was busy with piano and drums. but there are 1 or 2 rhythm guitars that I didn't know about so who the hell knows. George plays lead including the solo. The last mandolin like phrase might be paul

That they would allow that drum performance to appear without a disclaimer that Ringo is *not* playing them is a travesty. Otherwise, fun.
What's fun is I've been obsessed with them since 1995 and didn't know Ringo didn't drum on this until now. Still love it the same tho:)
