- I turn the brake material to shape to fit on the mounting ring, in the K&T six inch lathe, press it on and drill out the rivet holes from the bore side or ring.
Life is good! Cheers, Keith

Vote MAGA 2024 #TRUMP Make America great again!
It is coming along nicely!
Thanks
You've shown us so many techniques to "get 'er done"! Cheers from MT.
I have to admire the work involved here to reproduce an obsolete part from a company that barely exists anymore. Well done sir!
90 degree drill attachment was just genius, i was thinking the dividing head. drill attachment got the job done in couple minutes. Great job always learning something from your videos.
Agreed. I am often guilty of overlooking the most simple and quick solution.
Outstanding❤
Don't know whether I mentioned this or not but many years ago you showed lathing with a towel covering the ways to combat swarf. I never thought of that but you did and I am very grateful for showing that again. Thank you for all the tips and tricks you use every day. All the best to ya'.
As long as I feel there is no danger of snagging and wrapping it into the cutter or around the part, I like to keep as much of abrasive materials from settling on ways and areas around them.
Very nice work sir
Thanks for sharing Kieth, I really enjoy watching you use your K&T mill , I have one just like it and it’s big brother and have been working on them to get them ready to run but you know how everything else get in the way sometimes lol!
Thanks!
A pancake drill attachment would work great for drilling those holes. I picked one up at the old Boeing surplus store many ... many years ago and it has saved my bacon more than once.
26:16 - Bet a carbide bit is gonna be required.
27:06 - Nope. Tried making E-brake replacement pucks years ago and the friction material ate my HSS cutters.
Well, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Especially with drilling from the inside out, nice job! Thanks
The original one may have had the split for heat expansion?
The original more than likely had the split for production tolerance control and ease of assembly.
Just for courtesy sake, what insert were you using for the boring, and did it want to varnish over and get sticky ?
Just a C-5 carbide insert, nothing special, came with the bar. The brake line material is a crisp material without resin or sappy issues.
Did I miss something? What is holding the drill bit in the hex … adapter?
Yeah you missed it.
He drilled out the hex stock; then brazed in the bit.
Clever approach drilling the holes.
I would have taken the short cut approach simply bonding with brake bonding adhesive.
I think your method is better as the counterbores will assist displacing oil when applying brake.
👍👍
Is it possible to distort the roundness of that material with a three jaw chuck?
Yes everything has some kind of shape shifting in a jaw support, but the mounting and turning final surfaces are not affected.
The brake material machines pretty nice eh? One thing I always wondered about you Keith is why do you call an inclusion a holiday? There must be a story here.
That phrase was past down to me by my mentors, both mechanics and machinist, most in their 50's and 60's, while I was still in my teens, either looking at a bluing transfer or a smooth cut with lows or areas below the cut. Back in the day, your only day off from the grind / work was a holiday. Scrape that turbine case until you rid of all those holidays! LOL! Weeks on that dam case! no holidays until your done!
@@KeithFenner Awesome story Keith. I kinda figured some old timers were behind it! They are the best. Cheers
Good device for drilling in a confined space. Great video.
Those right angle drills are great for the job when you need to use them but they always feel so rickety and loose in your hands. You have to hold and operate the drill with one hand and then apply pressure to the holder with the other and it is all attached through the rotating shaft.
Olá amigo Keith!!!!
Gostei do acessório que usou pra fazer os furos!!!Obrigado por mostrar!!!
Boa sorte sempre!!!

Keith doing it soup to nuts, even making the tooling. 👍🇺🇲
I think that telescoping gages and snap gages are different tools.
Same tool, having different terminology
@@KeithFenner What tool reference source do you use? Maybe I got it wrong?
I use the 50 years in the trade hearing it called both ways by my coworkers and mentors.
I have used both telescoping bore gages and snap gages.
Some people may call one the other but they are not the same tools.
😄
Haven’t seen your videos for quite awhile thought 8 would check in.
Saw your signage, good bye forever
😢
What a child. Imagine being so immature you're not going to talk to over 50% of the country because of the politician they are silently supporting to be in office for 4 years. Grow up.
Thanks for the view.
I'm certain there is a lib job shop out there for you Lib, that has nonbinary machinery and doesn't emit burned off welding gases into the atmosphere.
@@EitriBrokkrfrom those that scream tolerance while also being the biggest hypocrites on the planet. It’s just like all week after Musk landed his booster successfully I keep seeing people say Musk is dumb for supporting Trump and pushing for freedom of speech on x . Meanwhile his accomplishments show he clearly is not dumb and maybe they should pay attention why someone smart and accomplished would be supporting Trump.
You are By far my favourite Genious mr fenner 👌🫡
