This is my first try at making socks. I’m using magic loop and have watched numerous videos for help with ladders. Without any exaggeration, I’ve started the same project 12 times and have ripped out each because of ladders and yarn tangling in my “loop “. After watching your video, I’m ready to attempt to begin again! Thank you so much for your great video. I think I finally understand how to do this!

I knit all my socks w/magic loop & I have found that if I use Chiaogoo needles I want to use the “mini” cables, even if I’m using the “small” needles. The company sells adaptors that let you attach the “mini” cables to the larger “small” needles. The mini cables are thinner & more flexible & allow you to keep the edges closer together which helps eliminate the ladders. You can still do this technique as above, but the finer cables help a lot & are more comfortable to work with! 😄

Best best best tutorial on magic loop ever, Debbie. Because you did every step slowly and showed exactly where the needles go and yarn goes. Most of the others teaching this do not show each step including droppign the left needle, turning the needles to the back etc. yay! You do this exactly like how I've been teaching. I've been trawling through youtube for weeks to find a tutorial that is like how i teach it so that if my students get stuck, they can go online and see how. thank you thank you thank you. and an aside - for years, I had a clothing label called Wild & Woolly. :-) Lu x

I couldn't understand why I was having such trouble getting the last stitch off of the cable and back onto the needle, but now I understand why. I was tugging so hard on the yarn before making the first stitch that I was pulling the last stitch tight on the cable. I'm finding it much easier now I'm doing what you show in your video.

This is very cost effective, though, especially for needles in sizes 6 or 7 on up. Instead of having to invest in dpn, I can use a size 7, 8, or 9 circular ANY LENGTH using this method! ❤ This video definitely went in my "Saved" file!

Hi! Thanks for this video. I was an experienced knitter back in the day, but have only just tried magic loop with my very first sock. I used a different tutorial, and guess what? I'm now 7 rows in with a big fat ladder. It took me hours to knit those 7 rows and further hours to try and rectify the ladder, which is now 2 huge loops. I've never seen anything like this - how can I resolve it...?

@@choc_chip okay, I understand. Going forward using this technique will drastically reduce or eliminate your problem. I’m sure you won’t want to hear this, but it may be easier to start over😮 you do have another option which is what I call “sharing the wealth”.. basically you reabsorb the gaps by taking up the slack with the existing stitches, by following each stitch horizontal and pulling the slack through until it’s mostly reincorporated, then pull diagonally both ways on your knit fabric. You can do this until almost perfect and the rest will block out. It’s fiddly, but worth the effort. I wish you luck😊

You will eventually weave in the end yarn once your work is complete. Does this help? If not please post photo of your issue.
