Good video Luke some very interesting content indeed. Just wondering on the trap job I assume there’s no other way to sort that except cut a hole in the ceiling underneath in order to gain access. Also what was the reason for the filling loop and pressure reducing valve you fitted was it just to make it easier for the customer to top up rather than at the boiler. Those heavy rads need grounds put in it’s the only safe and secure way but anyway really good work mate.
Hi mate. Unfortunately with the bath waste no other way and the pressure reducing valve was so it will automatically fill up as it’s dropping at least twice a day
Going back to shower trap, I find most problems i have is the quality of goods fitted, we can all make a mistake, but invariably it’s the quality of materials.
I’ve had the same call back on 3 separate jobs over the last few years- radiator leaking from where the tails screw into the rad. I’m a chippy, seems to be the one thing I fgck up too regularly, draining down at 8:00 pm to tighten garage conversion rad tail. Using that blue gunk now, seems pukka.
@ yeah i don’t skimp on anything now. Not only does it make me look stupid but having to go back while I’m having my tea to drain down and re fit a rad is not the one!
@ that’s good to know, u probably fit more rads in a couple weeks than I do a year. Dunno why but type in carpenter in my area and i come up near top yet all I seen to get is bathrooms- go figure ❔
@bluebulldog_uk yes it's hard to find good workers. I just had my garage rendard and it was a rear treat he made a lovely job nice and tidy I couldn't falt him and iam very fussy
Final job, might the fact you converted over to a pressurised system possibly now 'blown' a shoddy joint in the older pipework? Obviously nothing you can guarantee against unless you renewed all pipework.
You're right, I fitted a PS conversion but later in the week it was losing pressure. Eventually I isolated a leak somewhere beneath a concrete then tiled 25ft kitchen floor. Told customer I would have to excavate floor to fix the leak but she said she wouldn't pay for that and also wanted me to pay for new tiles as she considered it to be my fault ? !!. What would you have said to this request / demand ?
@@ianthomas739 I'm not in the trade mate but if I was the one that 'sold' her the idea then I should have pre-warned her about the unexpected. If she'd just cold called me to get a quote and fit it, that's more down to her but I'd have still warned her. Directly NOT your fault, so refuse to do the job and most she'll do is chase you through small claims court for the cost of someone else to put right. Be interesting to see the outcome. If you're feeling generous though, rather than dig up the floor, offer to re-route the pipes another way if possible.
On a powerflush or system conversion I send over a disclaimer along with the quote explaining the associated risks and if any should occur further costs will apply to rectify, CP Utilities was nice enough to send me his template 👌
@@s.wilson5675 Thanks , I finished up doing exactly what you suggested - re routed pipework under cabinets and skirting. I did tell her the existing pipework could potentially not handle the increased pressure but no problem initially but then if any major work / damage caused who pays ? Should have made her aware so my fault. All ended well and customer was happy. no charge as I only spent a couple of hours and 3 mtrs copper to fix. Next time !
@@theorgazoid4918 that’s kinda obvious now you mention it. I’m a chippy by trade. The plumbing just comes in from fitting kitchens and the skills are often transferable- the years of experience however are not!!!
The last one with the leak get yourself a cheap bottle of aftershave the smellier the better pour it into the Magna cleanse and then go chasing the smell you'll find it a lot quicker with your nose
Brilliant service, once reported he was really quick to respond. Wish we had cleaned the shower tray now 😮
Thanks for your help with this one mate, lot easier with 2 of us 😂👍👍
Good idea with the prv on the filling loop, takes the pressure off you pun intended to find time and rectify 👌
Thanks mate 👍👍
You say auto filling loop, I say, pressure reducing valve. Good work as always .
👌👍
Nice one mate, honest as ever 👍👌
Thanks mate 👍

Put more wraps of tape on its thinner now

Rapid blu is really good, tried and tested over 3 years now, I’ve had 1 leak only was my fault to be honest, didn’t leave it long enough

At least you do go back Luke i go to so many jobs were they wont go back and the crappy work you see unbelievable and its getting worse
Yes mate I had some work done at mine and wanted them to come back and tidy up as left a right mess in my roof…never did

Surprised you didn't use bullfix fixings first time around. Im pretty sure it was you who introduced me to these fixings a few years ago.
Radiator one wasn’t a callback of mine mate 👌👍
@@bluebulldog_uk i watched a video and hes bought out some special bullfix hanging brackets.

Doris just sent me a message she said your not a good boy now and you wont be getting any home made cake with your tea now lol
Doris will forgive me soon enough 😂😂
@bluebulldog_uk I had the cake it was lovely
Can someone explain to me why jet lube brush is 1.5” shorter than bottom of the can!???
Same as brush on solvent weld adhesive, only get about half of it out
@ yeah, the cheeky bastards! At least you can get at most of it out tho I guess
Haha. I cut my tub in half when it’s almost done .

Great trick apparently. See Roger B do that on his channel.
Heard about this but never done it myself, might be worth a try 👍
Good temporary work around but that customer need together under the floor and find that leak
Yeah mate hopefully we can get back before long and find where this leak is 👍
I refuse to fit designer rads on stud walls now.
Most times you get a call back its because of crapy materials lol
Maybe best not to leave the filling loop hose connected, so it's obvious if it's passing.
Customer emailed 4 days later to say pressure been fine since isolation 👍
Brown grip its are so much better….. tried the bull fix fittings and they just don’t hit home right….brown grip it’s for me pal.
How was your Christmas
Very good mate, nice to have some time off with family, hope you had a good one 👍
Can't be helped. We have all had call backs .just part of the job 👍.
Those cavity fixings are rubbish. Don't use them anymore. 👌👍
Flexi drain lines in a concealed location? Mate those things do not belong anywhere especially there.
I don’t like them traps me ever full stop
Who uses plaster board fixings to hang rads. They have no purpose being in your van
