I swear I am making a Dylan John series of videos for myself. Nothing but your tips hidden away to watch over and over again. Thank you sir for keeping these tips simple.
So far, you’re the only person that’s told me I’m doing stuff wrong, but I still listen to because the things you’re teaching me are helpful, time saving, and spot on! Thank you.
Thank you so much for the Final Cut Pro Cheat Sheet. It is such a valuable resource! So many shortcuts I did not know existed. Can't believe you're giving it away for free!!
The little addition and meme to your video editing make me laugh so hard! 😂Some of your comments are golden too : "And sometimes as I can be a little ocd..." 🤣Another great video! 🙌
🔥 Once again the most useful tips for things I knew must exist but didn’t have access to. And just when I was worried about remembering them all I downloaded your cheat sheet. Thanks again man
Thank you thank 1000x thanks. No fluff at the beginning and just getting straight to the point. These shortcuts are actually super helpful. Came across this video while in the middle of editing on FCP. Speeds up my workflow for sure! 😎🔥
😂 People will forget anyways. Hearing it again will help to solidify it in their minds. Thanks so much man! I definitely took some inspiration from your Envato placement. I loved the style and how you made it so high energy.
Dylan, Your tutorials are always good and very helpful and even though you refreshed my memory on a couple I'm so glad you showed them again. You and a handful of other FCPX editors make me feel like I wish I had better recall when editing sometimes! Great tips. As always!
Thanks for the kind words, my friend! Well, you could always download my cheat sheet and print it out! Then once you remember those shortcuts, set it aside and do your best to recall those shortcuts. Sooner or later you'll have them all down 🤘
Hey Dylan, I think the biggest take away here is that you can rejoin your split clip by selecting an edit point and pressing delete. I NEVER knew how to do this and could never find a solution anywhere! So thank you. (Also, and this is just for me-might there be any chance you could go a bit easy on the memes? I do find them incredibly distracting as well as detracting from your stuff. Your content is so good it stands up for itself-you don't need [in my nobody opinion] to make it jump and dazzle and pop and meme and stuff…) cheers, man, and hello from Melbourne, Australia 🤙
Hey Scott! That's definitely a great one. I can certainly ease up a bit, however I've gotten quite a few comments saying that things like that really keep the tutorials interesting haha. So I guess I can't really win. Thanks for the support and suggestion!
Do you know if there is a way to save my custom Logo in the Titles menu on FCPX for faster editing. That way I avoid dragging my logo from my drive each time? ThaNKS MAN !!!!
Man, you sure put in a lotta work to help all FCP users to step up their game. Thanks, Dylan, for another very interesting tutorial 🙏 (a little OCD? haha, tell me about it... ) 😀
Hey Dylan great channel ! Would love to see you grade with color finale and dehancer now that it is available for fcpx , also there is this particular parallel node function in davinci can achieve this with color finale ? seems very convenient! Keep up great content! Cheers 🤘🏻
I'll have to give dehancer a look. I believe they reached out to me, but I've been swamped recently. I'll dive into the plugin soon. Thanks so much for the kind words! 🙏
Hi, thanks for the video. I have a problem I wish you have the answer. It's out of the topic from the video. Do you have a solution for FCPX re-render the timeline everytime I reopen the FCPX (I usually reopen to continue my work the next day) And why the FCPX re-render the timeline even though it's already rendered. I hope you can help me Thanks
Hey! Yes I do :) Here's a video I made very recently about just that. ua-cam.com/video/9B1JD40ZUUQ/v-deo.html Let me know if that solves your problems.
@@dylanjohndickerson Hi, I just watched it. Not exactly the problem I'm facing currently. So, After editing and rendered. I quit the FCPX and when I re-opened FCPX later it rendering again through 17 minutes of my work without me touching the timeline. It already rendered before I quit btw. And I have to wait it finish the rendering to make adjustment (It took a long time). If I turned off the rendering in the background the playback and editing performance suffers. I'm not sure it's because of I'm editing through external SSD or my motion template on the internal harddrive. But thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, Final Cut will have to render and re-render every time you open and close. I'm not sure why that is. So I'd highly suggest converting your footage, or just specific clips, to proxy files like I mentioned, so you don't have to have background render on.
Thank you guys so much for watching! You're the best! 🤙🏼

holy crap, I didn't know hitting "delete" would delete the cuts. That's amazing 😂
So sweet right? It tidies things up a bit so you don’t have cuts all over your clips haha
Always on 🔝 Dylan! Super helpful!! 🙏 didn’t know about mending the cuts either, thanks.

2:53 OMG I DID NOT KNOW YOU COULD DO THAT. I always just put it into a compound clip so i don't see the cuts.

Sadly most of your keyboard command tips don't apply to my German keyboard. :(
Ah damn :/ well, you can press Option Command K and use the keyboard shortcut editor to place whatever function you want on whatever key you’d like!
