Component contact basically show the contacts and behaviour of two parts which are linked in assembly like you can select the option of no penetration and bonded which will show the behaviour of parts.
Contact set is used that from which faces or edges the two parts are connected. I think you will better understand by solving little assembly consisting of two parts.
