You do realize that using the mass fraction is causing an error when showing the water line? If you use the mass fraction it is basically showing you how much percent mass of a cell is either liquid or gas in your water and air case. The water has a mass that is about 1000 times higher than air and with just 10% of the cell filled with water, you already have almost 100% mass fraction of water. That's a simple hand calculation: A cell with 1cm^3 volume filled by 10% is 0.1g water and the 90% of air is 0.0009g air. This makes the cell to have a mass fraction of water of 99.11%. This basically suggests the cell is almost 100% full but in fact, it is only 10% full due to the density you are considering in your mass fraction. You should use volume fraction!
How accurate is the bottle sloshing animation with relation to the chemical properties of water? For example if you changed the fluid to a much denser organic solvent, would the animation behavior reflect this drastic property change made to the fluid?
What a great video! Have you considered doing a tutorial showing ship drag calculations or simply the free surface of a vessel moving through water? I am currently stuck in a problem like that and my simulations do not seem very accurate. I am quite sure I'm doing something wrong, but cannot seem to find the error in the setup of the problem. I'm sure this problem would attract a lot of viewers with difficulties similar to mine, as there are currently no video tutorials showing the process in SolidWorks Flow Simulation on UA-cam! Thank you for your attention!
Sir is it possible to analyze mixing of co2 gas with cold water in a pressurized vessel in solidworks. Suppose a vessel is in vertical shape( 400mm diameter × 1700mm height × 3mm thickness) and vessel is half packed with series of perforated plates and then we pressurized that vessel from co2 gas up to 5 bar which will remain constant throughout the simulation or process.Consider half inch duct for co2 gas inlet from any side of vessel and then with the help of high pressure pump, cold water(2 degree celsius, volume flow rate 4 cubic meter per hour)is sprayed through nozzles from the top of vessel towards bottom. My goal is to look out how water is passing through those perforated plates and at last how much co2 gas is mixed in water which is going to be stored in the bottom of the tank . Consider 1.5 inch duct for water inlet and 1.5 inch duct for water outlet which is open to environmental pressure. Kindly explain how to do in solidworks or in ansys. Thanks a lot 🙏.
On the tank fill sim, why is the top tank filling and not the bottom tanks? Just from viewing the diagram the bottom 2 tanks will fill before the top 2, or am I completely wrong?
Hello. When I select transient explorer appears a message: No calculated parameters are found. Please specify at least one parameter in the Calculation control Options and solve the project. I really don't understand because I can see changes when I charge different time in Load time moment.
Juan, We are unsure what the source of your particular error is. We would advise you to contact your local SOLIDWORKS support company so they can initiate an investigation to help you.
Good question. As the water is evacuated from the tank, there needs to be a way for the air to fill up the top of the tank to replace the missing water. The environment pressure at the top lid facilitates this air entry.
i can never use Free Surface simulations, my solver always abnormally stops in the middle of the calculation. i dont have that many cells either for to fail. I dont know whats wrong
Thank you so much GoEngineer, it would be great if you clear one more doubt ....how can we add floating body on this free surface ?
Can i get the file of makeing the water pot and the water!
Wow your fluent speaking skill is amazing.and of course this webinar is valuable for us.
It would be nice to know how the model was constructed, I can create the 2 volumes but it's not behaving the same way.

Can you show how to set up the goals and run the simulation instead of skipping o the result that also has more constraints added to it?
This helped a lot
Thank you
Hey, I have sw2020 and I'm doing free surface, as per yr video bt im not getting, initial condition icon, tell me how to get that icon??
Check with your VARs technical support team for an answer as the issue may be environmental to your computer.
WOOOOW...AM SO MOTIVATED
Rightclicking results doesnt pop up anything to select transient option
hi i want to know how we can find the volume of any container via cfd water filling?

is there any way to use fan with Free surface?
Could you please do any video on Sloshing....

Hello, great tutorial. Thank you. What if the first tank is not open from the top? Why you need to add environment pressure?

@@goengineer Well if you turn a glass bottle upside down, the water will flow out eventually. How can I simulate that kind of a process?
@GoEngineer what if all founr tanks were closed? Wouldn't the liquid flow anyway?
Hi everyone, has Solidworks 2012 the Free surface option? Or only late version has this option?
Hello! The Free Surface option was introduced in the 2018 version of SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation. Thank you.
grazie mille ragazzi, ottimo lavoro!
Thank you for watching.
good concise instructions. cheers
Thanks for your comment. We like knowing that our tutorials are helping others.

Can you render this?
great work sir
Can this be done using oil and water?
Hi phreaktor1,
Yes, free surface can have multiple fluids included int he analysis.
I can't see the "initial condition" in my task bar. Is there something wrong with my wizard setting?
I am also having this problem. Did you find a solution?
Right click on your project (above input data), click customize tree and add 'initial condition'

Hi Hüseyin,
We do not maintain copies of the files used in these videos so I do not have anything to send to you for this.
