i agree that treasure planet is so unpopular.i still remember the day i saw it and how much it affected me as young boy.one of the best scenes ever when john silver try to inspire jimmy.i hope some day someone says to me these words or the opposite.
So many people don't give Dumbo enough credit on how sad an outcast of a Son/wrongfully jailed Mother situation is. Yeah it's sad Mufasa was Killed protecting Simba. But by birth Dumbo was an outcast from his own Kind. Then the kicker of the forced separation and wrongfully jailed Mother just protecting her child.
And on top of that he was just a baby, probably no more than a few weeks/months old, or if the narrative is to be taken seriously something like a few DAYS old. His face when he starts crying harder just gets me
same here! i like it the most. the mix of 2d and 3d is just amazing. and hawkins is the cutest ever. i had such a crush on that boy as a teen some 13 years ago :P (and still think its the coolest disney character besides tarzan and quasi.)
Michael O'Connor treasure planet is not underrated it's unpopular, there is a difference, treasure planet has a fair rating but is not known. Rating is based on how good the movie is not how much people have known or seen it. Brother bear is definitely the most underrated because t has a terrible rating even though it has one of the most powerful stories in any movie let alone Disney
I'm not sure, I've heard of Brother Bear when I was young, I haven't heard of Treasure Planet until I was watching a top 10 biggest Disney box office flops list a couple months ago
Michael O'Connor did you even read what I typed, like wtf. I just said treasure planet was UNPOPULAR with a FAIR RATING therefore it is not. Underrated while brother bear was given an unfair RATING meaning it is Underrrated even if it known more than treasure planet
Yeah that traumatised me as a kid. Dumbo was pretty brutal too. The ones like Ariel/Cinderalla/Meg etc. aren't as sad as you know they have happy endings in the end
Still think in my opinion, that Mufasa's death is one of the most if the most heartbreaking scene for one simple reason. Simba was present when he saw his father fall to his death, furthermore, he even got up close to his dead father, trying to get his dad up. Even more so, when he actually realize Mufasa is dead. Just to put more sadness on top of that, when he calls for help, he sees Scar, who firstly blame Mufasa's death on Simba (imagine as a child, hearing that news, first seeing your dad fall to his death and then get told that you were the reason, that would be unthinkable heart crushing), and then Scar simple banish him from his home and everything he has ever known, to die out in the desert. If it hadn't been for Timon and Pumba, Simba would have died in grief, knowing only that he was the reason his dad died and no one could come to help him.
Pretty sad.. but still think Dumbo is number 1 .. I was 13 when I saw the lion king.. and even at that age Mufasa's death didn't really do much for me.
Duc I forgot how sad that scene actually was until right now. I didn't really be emotional watching this countdown until then. but I think it's cause I haven't seen that movie in so many years
Amanda Lopez its especially sad because he doesn't understand why hes being released :( On the flip side it does blossom his very adorable relationship with Vixey
+Drew Russell the fox and the hound is my favorite disney movie and it makes me sad to watch it which is odd for me because i'm not an emotional person
oh yes, the first movie to slap me in the face because of the sadness. the soundtrack is also fucking awesome in the scene where she left todd in the woods
I love the real pain you feel with Nani in "Lilo and Stitch". Her fear of losing her sister came true in the worst way possible, you cannot imagine what it must feel like to truly be "alone".
the shivers i got on that mulan scene. the amount of emotion in her eyes when shang let go. dispair, horror, sadness, grief. looking into her eyes when he fell made me so sad. she looked so broken.
Justin Plays Games Depends on the person. I think it was sad when she was poisoned and the dwarfs were all mourning her. It was sad, though I didn't cry.
+Kasatka Tilikum (Partywaffles) Well we also view it now through a sort of anachronistic lens, when the film premiered back in 1937, it left the likes of Clark Gable in tears. Since then far more heart wrenching moments have been animated to show just how far the art can take the element of pathos.

Fox and The Hound makes me tear up every time, as soon as she starts driving off with the Fox "Tod" singing. You get the feeling that this was her only companion, she raised it like a child, and she had such great memories. The feeling of leaving something behind, and walking away from it because you have no choice, and when Tod had no idea what was really happening, (being abandoned back to the wild) until she removed Tod's collar, and drove away.
You know, Treasure Planet always makes me cry. My father was definitely not father of the year material, leaving my mother for another, scaring us instead of motivating us, or telling us not to cry. But he passed away exactly a week before my 16th birthday which was one of the worst experiences of my life. So, Jim Hawkins really spoke to me in a way, including looking for a father figure.
That scene always motivated me to do the right things always, and to be a leader. Lion King also made me always to to obtain the title Guardian, like Mufasa was in the sky. In 2016 I got the title in the form of an award to which my citation on it listed me as a Guardian. I do not think I've ever had a happier moment in my life.
The beginning of Oliver and Company is one of the saddest moments ever. All of the kittens are being adopted and little Oliver is left out in the rain 😢
That movie never fails to make me cry. The ambience and the constant state of hope for Oliver brings me to tears every time. I never cried at Mufasa's death because I never really felt like we bonded with him properly. Sure, he's a caring father and good leader, but we don't see enough of him to really feel the impact. With Oliver, it makes you instantly care for the character. He's in a bad state and remains in it for a while, and that's why you cry. It's not sudden, it's not a death, it's supposed to be a rough time. The audience feels sympathy for the little kitten as we can feel every emotion possible during that first song.
I think the part in Treasure Planet where James runs after his dad when he takes off should have been number one. the soundtrack matched it perfectly and aroused just the right atmosphere, and its a really good song. the entire scene was really well constructed.
Oh my god I totally agree with you!!I saw that movie once as a child and I was so sad after watching it that i cried for a whole evening...needlees to say that I have to see this movie since then...
Even thinking about Dumbo makes me cry. I remember watching a part of it with my cousin about 5 years ago. She was 4 and started crying when Dumbo got drunk (we weren't watching from the beginning). She had no idea what was happening, but "The little elephant is sad" was enough. Needless to say I cried too.
What happens in the Fox and the Hound. My little one loved 101 Dalmations, and Lady and the Tramp. I thought from the cute ads I'd seen Fox and the Hound would be similar, and I didn't watch it with him like I had the others and then he said it was horrible movie with some terrifying monster that killed everyone! Wtf happens in it?
Thank you so much for including Treasure Planet on this list!!! In my opinion, probably the most underrated Disney movie of all time, and those two scenes break my heart every damn time.
Alternatives: 1) From Frozen: the last verse of "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" and Elsa's sobbing over Anna's frozen body 2) From Lady and the Tramp: when Trusty's been crushed by the carriage and Jock starts howling mournfully 3) From Lilo and Stitch: when Stitch is all alone in wilderness and starts calling "I'm lost!" in the hopes that his family will come 4) From Lady and the Tramp: that scene where we first see inside the pound, where all the dogs are whimpering to the music 5) From Hunchback of Notre Dame: after Quasimodo's rescued Esmerelda from being burned at the stake, but she just lies limply and doesn't wake up 6) From The Jungle Book: when everything thinks Baloo died saving Mowgli 7) From Robin Hood: when Robin Hood's hat with an arrow in it is the only thing to rise up out of the moat, and the boy rabbit says, "He's gonna make it, isn't he?" but Little John just tears up and doesn't answer 8) From Great Mouse Detective: when Olivia crawls out of the cupboard to find her home in shambles and she calls for her father but he's gone
Me too! On all the other ones (maybe apart from Dumbo) I didn't shed a tear, but as soon as Simba and Mufasa appeared the tears just started to pour down my cheeks!
+Batty Buckets I had a different version of this scene in my head. Faster than a speeding cheetah! More powerful than a stampeding elephant! Able to leap Pride Rock in a single bound! One of the few surviving animals of the planet Krypton, it's Supercat!
for Lilo and Stitch, I would have chosen the 'Aloha Oe' scene. That makes me cry EVERY time. And of all the things to happen in Disney movies I would never have expected the death of a fricken delusional hillbilly firefly to get me bawling.
+Dareigan Stitch: "I'm lost. I'm lost!" That is the Lilo and Stitch scene where I just want to pick that little guy up and let him know he's been found.
Actually #1 should've been Bambi, the simple idea of a dead mother is more terrifying than Dumbo saying goodbye, which by knowing fairytales fates, it all ends happily ever after. Bambi was the exception, he didn't get his mother back, at all.
+Loom it up If it wasn't in order, the author would have stated so in the description. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't see "in no particular order" anywhere in there.
+Jorge De Pavía Obregón yeah, I guess why. But most Disney characters has no mother, or no father. but I was thinking the lion king's one was going to be there, not because his father died, but because of the scene before and the scene after, when samba fells like it his fault.
For me, the scene that broke my heart the most, is in The Huntchback of Notre Dame when Quasi watches Esmeralda kiss Phoebus. The crying, the Heavens Light Reprise, and the tearing of the Ace of Hearts. Oh my God :'(
I"m glad I didn't watch that one...Unfortunately I read the book when I was a kid, and I was in such a dark place for a while because of it... It's been many years, but I think I recall that in the book, they force something down on his hump and make it bleed/break?? Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember some cruel scene like that, maybe my mind overplayed it though? I can't recall
The thing that makes it even more heartbreaking is that because it's not the face of a king who's lost a princess, it's the face of a father whose lost a daughter
my opinion with yours 20. more terrifying then sad 19. that is kind of sad 18. a lesson must be learned here 17. if the second was not around to ruin it 16. you learn from your mistakes and be stronger 15. when grumpy cried so did i 14. underrated as hell 13. i never picked up a gun because of that 12. i took the book and threw it in the fireplace 11. did not see it in a long time so i don't remember but i think i was just speechless 10. inspirational as hell 9. never saw this movie 8. never saw this movie 7.half shocked 6. reminds me of my mom 5. did not see till i was in 10th grade and i was sad 4. never saw 3. first disney movie and i cried hard 2. when i was a kid it was sad but when i really lost my dad i was more so 1. gave me a nightmare of me being away from my mother
+Tijera G-B We all come from different generations -I, for one, have never seen The Princess and the Frog, Big Hero or Frozen. I grew up with The Lion King, Mulan, Sinbad The Sailor, Treasure Planet, Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, The Hunchback etc. I saw Tangled, but that was because I had to accompany my little sister ;)
me before watching the video: I doubt thus will actually be THAT sad I've already seen all the disney movies. *gets to Lilo & Stitch scene. already in tears*
number 10 omfg 😢😥 treasure planet is so underrated!! its a brilliant movie and the father type relationship between Jim and silver is perfect it always makes me cry 😭😭
I always cry when that scene comes on in the movie. For me personally, it's knowing that he's still brokenhearted over losing his only daughter. He's trying to be strong and have faith, but he's so scared and he doesn't even know if she's alive. Hope you don't mind me sharing my interpretation.
+King of fnaf 87 after watching it when I was a little boy, I was inconsolable for hours.....such a sad scene...i simply have to skip through that scene every time I see it :/
Fox and the Hound and The Lion King fucked me up, man. FATH brings back bad memories when my mother would leave for work and I had to stay behind. It broke me as a young child of 3, 4, and 5 because, my father would tell me; ''She left you, abandoned you. She doesn't want you.'' When I'd ask when she would come home, he'd say, ''Never.'' And so, she'd hug me goodbye, tell me to stay and be good, and I'd sit and watch her drive off, fearing that each time would be the last I'd ever see of her. When Todd realised that he couldn't go with Tweed and had to stay, that always broke me because, I've been there.
Rapunzles fathers face.. Look of deep pain and eternal sorrow. Really cuts me deep. But Treasure Planet. Cyborgs quote, catching some of the light off ya that day. Something i need to be told on a daily basis.
Those too are probably the ones that hit me the hardest. The King's sadness is just too much. You can literally feel it. And imagine if someone said what Silver said to you? I would literally be in tears. Also Tarzan and his mother have a very special place in my heart. I never tell my mother that I love her enough.
The saddest part of Fox and the hound was at the end when Copper thinks about what he said to Todd as a child because even though they don't see each other any more, he still feels that their friendship will always live on in their hearts
Mufassa's death is so sad, Dumbo being away from his mother is sad too but the Fox and the Hound scene is the saddest scene in Disney history. I cry every time :(
Jim Hawkins' cry scene is just brilliant to think of. Thanks creators. My favourite Disney movie. What I also love about it is that there was no love involved like most Disney movies. It was just a pure thriller to me. P.S: rapunzel's father is so F**ng adorable. 8:50
Speaking of #2. It proves that Scar is probaly the most evil villain not only because of the death of his father, but because of the big lie he told to Simba in his childhood.
SBells27 Agreed! But it makes it much more satisfying when he’s left pleading (in spite of the futility) for his life right before he’s eaten ALIVE by the entire hyena clan! BURN IN HELL, SCAR!!!
I completely agree with Dumbo, something is just so heart wrenching, more so than death, about having a loved one so close by but just out of reach, its because it still leaves that glimmer of hope, making it harder to move on and more pain to be caused if/when you can't get them within your reach once again. at least in death there is closure, with Dumbo it was like torture
I get why you put Dumbo as #1 (and I know some people who'd agree). But, for me, it's Lion King all the way. Mufasa was just such a great guy/king and a wonderful father. And the fact that Simba had to watch him die and then come up to the corpse and just cry and say, "Dad...wake up dad...we have to go home..." Oh god, someone just grabbed the balls off my emotional soul and stuck them in a blender :P Plus it's followed by the most evil minute in Disney history (for me). Scar: Simba...what have you done? [...] Nobody means for these things to happen...but the king is dead. And if it weren't for you he'd still be alive. Hu...what will your mother think?! (Oh, hell no he didn't just go there!) [...] Run away Simba. Run. Run away and never return...Kill him. (AAAAAGGGHHH!!!!! DAMN YOU SCAR!) Also, I'm kinda surprised the death of Bambi's mom is so low on the list. I thought it would be in the top 3 or at least the top 5. Anyway, it's your list.
***** Wow...I'm sorry you have such a jaded view on fathers as a whole, but I know an enormous number of fantastic dads and the vast majority of people I know have good relationships with their fathers (both parents really, but I don't need to defend mothers here). Anyway, I was looking more at the scenes and characters involved than the father-child vs mother-child aspects.
Don't forget the accident scene, "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?", and the "An Act of True Love" scenes from Frozen, and also the "Because you're a fox?" scene from Zootopia
Oh definitely -- I still tear up at that last verse of "Do You Wan to Build" . . . and how did Elsa's sobbing over Anna's frozen body not make this list?
Sofia A. Pocahontas is very sad, but more like a good second! Because nobody actually dies in that Pocahontas scene, while the dead of mufassa is like a scar (hahah you get it? Scar scar?😂 okay I'm sorry bad punxD) in simba's heart💔 I love both movies thoo!xD
#14: "Oh wow, that actually made me tear up..." #9: "That is SO sad... I wanna be someone's dream tooooooo~" *tear-roll* #8: "The feels :(" #6: "I don't remember such a sad scene in Tarzan... :|" #4: "How did Disney put so much emotion in a 30-second scene?!!" #3: "NOT THIS SCENE. THIS IS THE MOST ICONIC DISNEY KILL-OFF! NOOOO!" #2: "Nooo... Todd... you hafta leave... But... but..." *Sobs* #1: "I DON'T EVEN LIKE DUMBO! WHEN DID THEY ADD THIS?!" *Breaks down in sob-fit*
The most saddest kids movie ever( I'm not sure if it really was a kids movie though) was made by Studio Ghibli, the movie was called Grave of Fireflies. It hurt right in the feels man, the feels.
+Renee Colafrancesco there is another one, but it's not by studio ghibli i think. it's called 'hotarubi no mori e' or in english 'into the forest of fireflies light'. its a short film but so beautiful and i cried so hard while wachting this. the end just ripped my heart into a million pieces.
I think that as far as Lilo and Stitch goes, Nani and Lilo's talk on the hammock was pretty sad, I mean she was preparing her little sister to be taken away from her while Lilo was still trying to give her hope. But Stitch leaving was even sadder, her telling him that it's okay and everyone leaves me, and him going out in the woods like the ugly duckling and saying "I'm lost."
The scene where the king (rapunzels father) cries, really got to me. It broke my heart. Him crying made me feel so bad he lost his daughter. It shows he really cares, and thats what made me tear up. :(
Oh man... I don't even remember The Fox and the Hound, I watched it so long ago, but as soon as it came up here tears started falling. It's like my mind just remembered that horrible sad feeling from watching it, even though I was so young...
Treasure Planet when Jim’s dad walks out on the family... That made me cry I felt so bad for both him and his mother. Fox and The hound was the first movie to make me cry as a child. Dumbo was also fucked up when they jailed his mom. She was just trying to protect poor Dumbo. P.s One they could also add was The Prince of Egypt. When the mother puts Moses in the basket.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that Snow White and Bambi were all developed without computers? Every character, every animal, every scene background. Amazing if you ask me.
I'm sure most people, if not everyone knows these titles already, but for those who don't, here is a list: 20: Cinderella. 19: Lilo & Stitch. 18: Hunchback of Notre-Dam. 17: Pocahontas. 16: Mulan. 15: Snow White & the seven dwarfs. 14: Treasure Planet. 13: Bambi. 12: The Little Mermaid. 11: Mulan 2. 10: Treasure Planet. 9: Tangled. 8: The Princess and the Frog. 7: Hercules. 6: Tarzan. 5: Beauty and the Beast. 4: Tangled. 3: The Fox and the Hound. 2: The Lion King. 1: Dumbo.
I know, it made me feel different when watching it about two weeks ago. I think it has to due with Disney only letting one parent die, both or something like that.
IKR??!!!! as a kid (in that time) with separated parents (not in a bad way but my dad lived in the other side of the country) that scene got me really hard when it came out
I thought Bambi should've been higher up on the list, that was sad :( and I actually thought that the saddest Fox and the Hound scene was at the end of the film where you hear their voices saying "we'll always be friends forever", it always sets me off in tears cos with what they are it's unlikely they'll ever see each other again.
HOW THE HELL IS THE SCENE WHERE MUFASA DIES NUMBER 2? That should be number 1! It's the fricking saddest scene in Disney history for crying out loud!!!
Where is Brother bear here? i cryird so hard on that film, everytime i watch it, i cry, the saddest for me, is when kenai confess that he mureered kodas mom, that was so sad, everytime i remember that, tears drop from my eyes :(
Watching the Hunchback of Notre Dame was my first realization of how cruel humans can be....
It hurts me to watch ot all the way through. But, it's a good movie nonetheless.
+Ashlee Woods *to
Same
Cruel and perverse.... That priest was just..... a _nightmare_.
I completely agree
I feel bad that treasure planet is so unpopular that the name had to be mentioned. I think it had some heartwarming moments.
It's my favourite film! ;)
Same, but when I was younger I couldn't watch it that much because my parents didn't like it.
At least you can watch it now, right? =D I can easily watch the entire film three times in a row. xD Oops.
i agree that treasure planet is so unpopular.i still remember the day i saw it and how much it affected me as young boy.one of the best scenes ever when john silver try to inspire jimmy.i hope some day someone says to me these words or the opposite.
treasure planet was my favorite movie when i was little and to this day i still cry whenever i see it.
No matter how old you are , Disney will always make you cry
The older you get the more it makes you cry
Billie frickin Eilish STAN so true
agreed
I agree with you. When Disney makes us cry, it makes us feel human.
Yesss
So many people don't give Dumbo enough credit on how sad an outcast of a Son/wrongfully jailed Mother situation is.
Yeah it's sad Mufasa was Killed protecting Simba.
But by birth Dumbo was an outcast from his own Kind.

LongTale Animation i cried when musfasa died😭
LongTale Animation I instantly cried at this dumbo scene. in fact I'm still crying
Finally, Treasure Planet got some credit. This film is so underrated and deserves so much credit.
same here! i like it the most. the mix of 2d and 3d is just amazing. and hawkins is the cutest ever. i had such a crush on that boy as a teen some 13 years ago :P (and still think its the coolest disney character besides tarzan and quasi.)
Taron Egerton should totally play lead in Treasure Planet if they ever make a live action!!
right?
Haena Kim yea. Treasure planet deserves a live action.
Heeey, that's pretty good. Agree
Treasure Planet was one of the most underrated movies of all-time, let alone just Disney.
Michael O'Connor no brother bear is
Michael O'Connor treasure planet is not underrated it's unpopular, there is a difference, treasure planet has a fair rating but is not known. Eh, I mean yes it has good parts, but its message was done before in Pocahontas with the same animal by the way.
I actually think bambi wondering where his mother is is the most heartbreaking scene. Great choices though!
Yeah that traumatised me as a kid. Dumbo was pretty brutal too. The ones like Ariel/Cinderalla/Meg etc. aren't as sad as you know they have happy endings in the end
Bambi. Tarzan's parents' death. I'm still here from treasure planet. I can see lion king among the top, too.
Madi Bendy I'm pregnant and highly emotional. Seeing that scene again really set me off
Still think in my opinion, that Mufasa's death is one of the most if the most heartbreaking scene for one simple reason.
Simba was present when he saw his father fall to his death, furthermore, he even got up close to his dead father, trying to get his dad up.

Tod getting released into the wild is the saddest scene here... :/
Duc I forgot how sad that scene actually was until right now. I didn't really be emotional watching this countdown until then. but I think it's cause I haven't seen that movie in so many years
Amanda Lopez its especially sad because he doesn't understand why hes being released :(
On the flip side it does blossom his very adorable relationship with Vixey
No I think it's bambi
Let's not forget about Mufasa's in The Lion King
Omg my heart broke
The Fox and The Hound always gets me.
+Drew Russell Same....
+Drew Russell I can't watch The Fox and The Hound without bawling my eyes out.
Same here
I love the real pain you feel with Nani in "Lilo and Stitch". Her fear of losing her sister came true in the worst way possible, you cannot imagine what it must feel like to truly be "alone".
+Alicia Spencer Yas. Also what happened tho their parents?
Alicia Spencer Oh my gawd. Thats tragic.
+TheChildofAuraReborn WAIT!!? Lilo and Nani are sisters!? This whole time I thought they were mother and daughter!
SaberQueen dying. xD
+SaberQueen I feel your pain it's like me when I re-watched Harry potter I found out that Snape wasn't the father of Harry potter and my life changed
the shivers i got on that mulan scene. the amount of emotion in her eyes when shang let go. dispair, horror, sadness, grief. looking into her eyes when he fell made me so sad. she looked so broken.
When is that scene? Like in what movie?
OK so I don't cry like ever, it's just not something that comes but that fox and the hound scene made me ball
😭😭😭
that's like 100& me
i cant watch that scene.
Disney-making grown men cry since 1939.
Gawd that needs to be their slogan.
DGF gal 1939? Longer than that. Snow White premiered in 1937.
Kasatka Tilikum snow white wasn't sad
Justin Plays Games Depends on the person. I think it was sad when she was poisoned and the dwarfs were all mourning her. It was sad, though I didn't cry.
+Kasatka Tilikum (Partywaffles) Well we also view it now through a sort of anachronistic lens, when the film premiered back in 1937, it left the likes of Clark Gable in tears. Since then far more heart wrenching moments have been animated to show just how far the art can take the element of pathos.
Yeah
Disney, traumatizing kids since 1933.
+Tatjana Waiss i was joking. :D i love animated features and shit :) also i aint braindead to get triggered at something disturbing. in a sense i meant at how some artist especially i. animation were and are capable of creating such strong emotions in a viewer :)
+Mind the craft so not to repeat myself the comment above ^^
Because of the cries, they make em dreaming😉
OK we all know shit gets real when you see an animated fox about to cry
Fox and The Hound makes me tear up every time, as soon as she starts driving off with the Fox "Tod" singing. You get the feeling that this was her only companion, she raised it like a child, and she had such great memories. The feeling of leaving something behind, and walking away from it because you have no choice, and when Tod had no idea what was really happening, (being abandoned back to the wild) until she removed Tod's collar, and drove away.
Snippee Plays I cry like a baby at that scene. At least three parts in that movie make me sad.
I’m sorry.
I'm so glad you put treasure planet on here
._.
The feels in that movie
i love it
Yes thats my favorite movie
So underrated though :( i want a second one
Muffasa's death make me cry every time I watch it! Even now! :'(
yeah I am crying right now and recently watched The Fox and the Hound, The Lion King, and Dumbo
Mufasa's death still gets me every time 😭😭 I don't know how anyone couldn't cry at that scene
That scene always motivated me to do the right things always, and to be a leader. Lion King also made me always to to obtain the title Guardian, like Mufasa was in the sky. @@christinamarais8955 I didn't
It should be number 1
Watch this they said. It will be fun they said.
She got it from Steven universe
Unicorncat300 Games it's actually a phrase that's been around long before Steven Universe, it's used in a lot of movies.
I've watched most of these movies to the point of insanity, so they don't really affect me that much anymore.
Pocahontas 😭 but the 2nd Movie killed everything 😑
Lorena Segura Suárez the second movie was a bullshit!!! How can anybody do this?!
Barbora Formánková I don't know
Lorena Segura Suárez... so true 😒
well it was the real story.
number one should just be the whole entire Fox and the Hound movie
Carrie Michele DUMBO Is SADDER
Agreed
The beginning of Oliver and Company is one of the saddest moments ever. All of the kittens are being adopted and little Oliver is left out in the rain 😢
ever since my first viewing of that movie I've always wanted an orange cat. 11 years later and I've never had even one cat of my own...
Why do I do this to myself
ikr
Dumbo getting rocked by his mother while she's behind bars has never failed to make me cry
Where is Brother Bear
No Kenai, explaining to Koda that he killed his mother was the saddest thing ever
+trumpetmastr23 yes totally agree
Oh my god yeah. "I don't like this story"
"Your mothers not coming" Saddest movie moment of all time
Olivia Brewer I know most underrated movies ever and it's my favorite
I think the part in Treasure Planet where James runs after his dad when he takes off should have been number one. the soundtrack matched it perfectly and aroused just the right atmosphere, and its a really good song. the entire scene was really well constructed.
Dumbo (1941) is the saddest Disney movie of all time
Oh my god I totally agree with you!!I saw that movie once as a child and I was so sad after watching it that i cried for a whole evening...needlees to say that I have to see this movie since then...
SuperMarioForce dumbo is the only movie that I actually cried at
IKR
bambi gets me everytime. Same for mufasas death and the fox and the hound
Same
same bro
Mufasa's death I was crying so hard
Same :(
What happens in the Fox and the Hound.
The Cinderella one with the sisters never really made me upset, it just pissed me off.
Thank you so much for including Treasure Planet on this list!!! In my opinion, probably the most underrated Disney movie of all time, and those two scenes break my heart every damn time.
I think brother bears no way out scene should have been on this list. Its just becuase its a forgotten movie although i think it was the best.
Alternatives:
1) From Frozen: the last verse of "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" and Elsa's sobbing over Anna's frozen body
2) From Lady and the Tramp: when Trusty's been crushed by the carriage and Jock starts howling mournfully
3) From Lilo and Stitch: when Stitch is all alone in wilderness and starts calling "I'm lost!" in the hopes that his family will come
4) From Lady and the Tramp: that scene where we first see inside the pound, where all the dogs are whimpering to the music
5) From Hunchback of Notre Dame: after Quasimodo's rescued Esmerelda from being burned at the stake, but she just lies limply and doesn't wake up
6) From The Jungle Book: when everything thinks Baloo died saving Mowgli
7) From Robin Hood: when Robin Hood's hat with an arrow in it is the only thing to rise up out of the moat, and the boy rabbit says, "He's gonna make it, isn't he?" but Little John just tears up and doesn't answer
8) From Great Mouse Detective: when Olivia crawls out of the cupboard to find her home in shambles and she calls for her father but he's gone
yeah. that list would have me unable to see through the tears.
time to take a nap satan
9) The entire Brother Bear movie
The Lady and the Tramp one gets me so emotional omg
Yes 5) THOND had me crying.
Treasure Planet is such an underrated gem
I couldn’t agree more.
The instant Simba and Mufasa appeared I immediately burst into tears. Thanks, Didney.
Me too! On all the other ones (maybe apart from Dumbo) I didn't shed a tear, but as soon as Simba and Mufasa appeared the tears just started to pour down my cheeks!
+Batty Buckets BAMBI DIDN'T MAKE YOU CRY???? But other than that, yeah I agree.
+Batty Buckets mine aswell coz i pretend it's some1 that i love that has died
+Batty Buckets I had a different version of this scene in my head.
Faster than a speeding cheetah!
More powerful than a stampeding elephant!
Able to leap Pride Rock in a single bound!
One of the few surviving animals of the planet Krypton, it's Supercat!
o ok
i see the scene with silver and jim as more heartwarming than sad idk
Yeah, it's almost like they put it in here just because Jim was crying. IDK, I'll take the Treasure Planet representation, though!
I love that scene, it's one of my favourite scenes ever and I find it more touching than sad with an amazing quote to go with it
It's the only one on the list to bring the tears for me. Having someone believe in you is pretty powerful!
Fox and the hound... I'm 27 and still refuse to watch that movie.
I'm 21 and watched it a lot as a kid and cried so much. I stopped being able to do it the older I got. It made me cry to much.
Same it just makes me so depressed and the book is even sadder and darker :(
for Lilo and Stitch, I would have chosen the 'Aloha Oe' scene. That makes me cry EVERY time.
And of all the things to happen in Disney movies I would never have expected the death of a fricken delusional hillbilly firefly to get me bawling.
Dareigan i would've picked when cobra bubbles came to take lilo away and nani loses it. cause i always cry at that.
+Dareigan
Stitch: "I'm lost. I'm lost!"
That is the Lilo and Stitch scene where I just want to pick that little guy up and let him know he's been found.
+Dareigan me too
+Dareigan Same, the character is just so lovable I watched the movie recently and felt the sadness go through me.
+Oliver Betteridge same
Actually #1 should've been Bambi, the simple idea of a dead mother is more terrifying than Dumbo saying goodbye, which by knowing fairytales fates, it all ends happily ever after.
Bambi was the exception, he didn't get his mother back, at all.
how about a dead father and family betrayal
+Jorge De Pavía Obregón Yeah but Bambi is cleque (or something I dun spell.)
that moment was sad of Bambi 😔
Annie Fleming when the title character was tortured that scared me the most when I 1st saw it
When he tore the card in half so did our hearts :(
4 was one of the saddest scenes for me just because I had never seen such a defeated, utterly heartbroken look on a strong king's face before.
gets me every time without fail.
The thing that makes it even more heartbreaking is that because it's not the face of a king who's lost a princess, it's the face of a father whose lost a daughter
#20 - #10 feeling a bit sad
#9 - #5 hard to stand...
#4 ... teardrop ...
#3 - #1 just sitting here behind my desk crying
Exactly how I was reacting to all of this.
I wasn't even sad.....maybe I'm a psychopath......
Hattie Tackett no you're not. it wasn't getting to you.
The fox and the hound scene was what really got to me cuz I grew up watching that movie at least once a week so it's my favorite movie
my opinion with yours
20. more terrifying then sad
19. that is kind of sad
18. a lesson must be learned here
17. if the second was not around to ruin it
16. you learn from your mistakes and be stronger
15. when grumpy cried so did i
14. underrated as hell
13. i never picked up a gun because of that

How in the fuck have you not seen Tangled or Princess and the Frog?!?!? Those were my movies growing up!!
Tijera G-B i have no clue....i also have not seen big hero 6
+Nolan Hewitt I cry for you😢😪
+Tijera G-B We all come from different generations -I, for one, have never seen The Princess and the Frog, Big Hero or Frozen. I grew up with The Lion King, Mulan, Sinbad The Sailor, Treasure Planet, Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, The Hunchback etc. I saw Tangled, but that was because I had to accompany my little sister ;)
+Nolan Hewitt 18 always get's to me :/
me before watching the video: I doubt thus will actually be THAT sad I've already seen all the disney movies.
*gets to Lilo & Stitch scene. already in tears*
Alright whos cutting onions near me huh????
me! i am! that's why I'm crying too.
Good one 😂
Omg the same things happening to me
lol stop it squidward its not the onions fault
And Toy Story 3? When Andy goes and Woody says "Goodbye". I cry with that.
I'm Infinite It's Disney not Pixar. They are 2 different studios
Steve Anglana YOU MEAN It's PIxar not Disney
SBells27 Definitly. Anyway they are two different studios
SBells27 They're not totally separate though--Disney owns Pixar
Aralei Swan Yeah, through i tihnk FTDK only mean the ones created in the canon..
Fox in the Hound. I couldn't hold back the tears ;-;
I kept in dry in this video until I saw The fox and the hound.. :'( . And of course simba and Dumbo.
Oh my god, I remember watching that as a child, and it just brought back a flood of memories...
So thankful that clip was short, once the song started I was crying, in fact tears were there when I saw Todd and had to minimise the webpage
Totally
FINALLY PEOPLE REMEMBER TREASURE PLANET!!!!
Eugene's death seems so natural it's so sad and depressing :(
The saddest parts is when, Bambi looses his mommy, soo sad :-(
I agree, it's really sad. Makes me cry every time. But I love that movie, its beautiful.
Yes, it really is :)
Replying to your own comment like
Yes Yes Yes!!
number 10 omfg 😢😥 treasure planet is so underrated!! its a brilliant movie and the father type relationship between Jim and silver is perfect it always makes me cry 😭😭
I instantly start crying when i see Rapunzel's father cry. I have no idea why i react so strongly to that specific scene..
I always cry when that scene comes on in the movie. For me personally, it's knowing that he's still brokenhearted over losing his only daughter. He's trying to be strong and have faith, but he's so scared and he doesn't even know if she's alive.
Hope you don't mind me sharing my interpretation.
#15, the moment Grumpy started sobbing...
The beautifully sad organ music doesn't help.....
The hunch back always gets me its so sad it gives me the feels 😭
After watching it a few times, it's now my favorite Disney movie!
+King of fnaf 87 after watching it when I was a little boy, I was inconsolable for hours.....such a sad scene...i simply have to skip through that scene every time I see it :/
+Mickey Holm I know 😂
After Shang's "death" and Hawkins crying I lost it. Somebody started cutting up some damn onions over here.
I cried like a baby in Tarzan when Kerchak died. Tarzan is also one of my favorites!
***** oh the beauty and pain of our childhood
d28y5daoc1t3a7.cloudfront.net/1f/f9df9f31a8898e3ff340e63ffb8611/iphone-image.jpg
Nightfall She-Wolf I lost it with the Lion King.
Esther NB it's just too many feelz!!!!!
Fox and the Hound and The Lion King fucked me up, man.
FATH brings back bad memories when my mother would leave for work and I had to stay behind. It broke me as a young child of 3, 4, and 5 because, my father would tell me; ''She left you, abandoned you. She doesn't want you.'' When I'd ask when she would come home, he'd say, ''Never.''
And so, she'd hug me goodbye, tell me to stay and be good, and I'd sit and watch her drive off, fearing that each time would be the last I'd ever see of her.
When Todd realised that he couldn't go with Tweed and had to stay, that always broke me because, I've been there.
Simba losing his father should be number 1
Rapunzles fathers face.. Look of deep pain and eternal sorrow. Really cuts me deep. But Treasure Planet. Cyborgs quote, catching some of the light off ya that day. Something i need to be told on a daily basis.
That scene was the best of the movie
Yes my favorite quote out of all of the Disney Movies! Especially for people going to school or trying their hardest to become something great!
Those too are probably the ones that hit me the hardest. The King's sadness is just too much. You can literally feel it. And imagine if someone said what Silver said to you? I would literally be in tears. Also Tarzan and his mother have a very special place in my heart. I never tell my mother that I love her enough.
NO NO NO NO
I CRY EVERY TIME THAT PART IS ON!!
(i'm talking about #3 that part of the fox and the hound)
I CRIED AGAIN ;-;
***** I do to ;-; It so sad!
The saddest part of Fox and the hound was at the end when Copper thinks about what he said to Todd as a child because even though they don't see each other any more, he still feels that their friendship will always live on in their hearts
The fox one got me 😢
And dumbo 😭
MollyAndJess
crap disney.. this is so goddamn sad
X"T
Mufassa's death is so sad, Dumbo being away from his mother is sad too but the Fox and the Hound scene is the saddest scene in Disney history. I cry every time :(
I cry every time Mufasa dies... EVERY FUCKING TIME D,:
him dying a lot sadder than dumbo!
***** it could of been sadder
I laughed.
You're not alone.

+jerricperrycp It said no Pixar
Dhahab Muthanna why are you telling me. Tell the person who posted the comment, I just agreed it was sad lol.

DESCRIPTIONS?!
I read that in such a voice😂
Jim Hawkins' cry scene is just brilliant to think of. Thanks creators. My favourite Disney movie.
What I also love about it is that there was no love involved like most Disney movies. It was just a pure thriller to me.
P.S: rapunzel's father is so F**ng adorable. 8:50
o gosh. Bambi, Fox and Hound, and Lion King. I almost cried
How the hell was Snow White's funeral not nearer the top? I bawled my eyes out when I first saw that! And how was Bambi's mom dying NOT #1?
DAMN YOU SCAR!)
Also, I'm kinda surprised the death of Bambi's mom is so low on the list. I thought it would be in the top 3 or at least the top 5. Anyway, it's your list.
bambis mom, yor right
***** Wow...I'm sorry you have such a jaded view on fathers as a whole, but I know an enormous number of fantastic dads and the vast majority of people I know have good relationships with their fathers (both parents really, but I don't need to defend mothers here). Anyway, I was looking more at the scenes and characters involved than the father-child vs mother-child aspects.
Bambi's mothers death were so awful, that i just cried my tears out! And when i came up to Mufassa and Dumbo i just lost myself completely!
Am I the only one who didn't find Mufasa's dead sad?
I always cry in "Dumbo" and "The fox and the hound"
Dumbo got me, but not mufasa. I cry more over the sad songs than sad scenes
+pompe221 Because this list was made in 2011, before Frozen came out.
Same
I think the Lion King scene should be 1....
That scene from the Treasure Planet gets me every single time! 😭
You sick monster you, making a grown man like me cry! *blows nose loudly*
Nothing tops Mufasa's death.
Uhm Pocahontas
exactly .. nothing 😢
agree
Even though it IS sad, I have to say Quasimodo's humiliation scarred me more.
For me the absolute #1 saddest moment in all of Disney's films is by far, and always has been, the death of Bambi's mother.
I was a little girl in the theatre and i cried and cried and ran home i was so upset.
I so mad when she died i cried i didnt expect her to die when i was small even now i cry
Totally!
i whould put bambi on #2 and the death of mufasa on number 1.
For me is old yeller
Once I saw that Dumbo was no. 1 I had to skip the rest of the video because that scene always makes me cry without fail. It's just so sad
#14: "Oh wow, that actually made me tear up..."
#9: "That is SO sad... I wanna be someone's dream tooooooo~" *tear-roll*
#8: "The feels :("
#6: "I don't remember such a sad scene in Tarzan... :|"
#4: "How did Disney put so much emotion in a 30-second scene?!!"
#3: "NOT THIS SCENE. THIS IS THE MOST ICONIC DISNEY KILL-OFF! NOOOO!"
#2: "Nooo... Todd... you hafta leave... But... but..." *Sobs*
#1: "I DON'T EVEN LIKE DUMBO! WHEN DID THEY ADD THIS?!" *Breaks down in sob-fit*
You told me about this one
Treasure planet is so underrated! D= Such a good movie! It deserves more appreciation.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame was sad as hell.
Hunchback of Notre Dame = my life in a nutshell= 2-3 friends people treat you like a freak = A day in the life of ME!!!!! :(
u mean sad as hellfire
sorry i just had to
Night Flower
I see what you did there
Amy Zhang It fucked me up as a kid.
I was trying not to cry when The Fox and the Hound appeared.
The Treasure Planet always gets me too.
07:27
Just gonna ignore the fact that he took those clothes from his fathers corpse.
lol, He could have found that particular set in a trunk?
The most saddest kids movie ever( I'm not sure if it really was a kids movie though) was made by Studio Ghibli, the movie was called Grave of Fireflies. It hurt right in the feels man, the feels.
YEAAAH I WAS CRYING SO DAMN HARD ABOUT THAT !! It was so sad when she died :(
Omg me too so sad 😱😱😱
Have you seen spirited away or the cat returns by studio gibli great movies if you ask me
+Renee Colafrancesco there is another one, but it's not by studio ghibli i think. it's called 'hotarubi no mori e' or in english 'into the forest of fireflies light'. its a short film but so beautiful and i cried so hard while wachting this. the end just ripped my heart into a million pieces.
+Renee Colafrancesco this one is sooo sad,but for me Kaguyahime no Monogatari is the saddest... TnT
That always made me cry in Lilo and Stich as does when the head alien when she says she needs to take Stitch away and he is saying bye :(
literally the entirety of lilo and stitch is just a sob fest. i find myself in tears everytime i watch the hammock scene :(
The scene where the king (rapunzels father) cries, really got to me.
The SEcond Treasure planet scene and Tarzan, man...wonderful movies.
Now that Big Hero 6 is out, nothing can top how sad the ending is.
Oh my GOD big hero 6 made me cry
You are in my mind.
Ikr!!!
Treasure planet always takes my heart and smashes it into little pieces, but in the best way
treasure planet hits me in the feels the hardest
What about Up? The story of Ellie and Carl, that always gets me ;-;
Man, you cant just rate it as the best or the worst. Is differents kinds of sadness
I'm sure most people, if not everyone knows these titles already, but for those who don't, here is a list:
20: Cinderella.
19: Lilo & Stitch.
18: Hunchback of Notre-Dam.
17: Pocahontas.
16: Mulan.
15: Snow White & the seven dwarfs.
14: Treasure Planet.
13: Bambi.
12: The Little Mermaid.
11: Mulan 2.
10: Treasure Planet.
9: Tangled.
8: The Princess and the Frog.
7: Hercules.
6: Tarzan.
5: Beauty and the Beast.
4: Tangled.
3: The Fox and the Hound.
2: The Lion King.
1: Dumbo.
How is Treasure Planet only #14 his Dad left him
For any kid who had a drunk, abusive, sociopath for a father like I did, that's an uplifting scene.
I know, it made me feel different when watching it about two weeks ago. I think it has to due with Disney only letting one parent die, both or something like that.
IKR??!!!! as a kid (in that time) with separated parents (not in a bad way but my dad lived in the other side of the country) that scene got me really hard when it came out
Number 3 gave me so much nostalgic sad feels. It hurts so much
ikr😢I sheded a bunch of tears
I thought Bambi should've been higher up on the list, that was sad :( and I actually thought that the saddest Fox and the Hound scene was at the end of the film where you hear their voices saying "we'll always be friends forever", it always sets me off in tears cos with what they are it's unlikely they'll ever see each other again.
HOW THE HELL IS THE SCENE WHERE MUFASA DIES NUMBER 2? That should be number 1! It's the fricking saddest scene in Disney history for crying out loud!!!
IKR.. ?! when i say the title, the first scene i thought about was The lion king! and I was expecting so much for it to be number one...
n1 Mufasa and the fox n2 but the elephant (i forgot sorry) n0 it's not sad at all !
Mufasa didn't make me as sad as when Bambi's mother died.
lucky to get in top 100
Obviously Mufasa should be number 1! Wow, that Lion King music always gets me.......right in the heart.
Where is Brother bear here? i cryird so hard on that film, everytime i watch it, i cry, the saddest for me, is when kenai confess that he mureered kodas mom, that was so sad, everytime i remember that, tears drop from my eyes :(
Murdered*
You know those times when you just need a really good cry? This video is for those times.
