I was glad that the entire friend group called Harper out on his selfishness AGAIN. He was selfish in their 20's. Got humbled in their 30's (being broke). And was rich and selfish in their 40's. Every chance he had not to be selfish he chose to be selfish.
The show was really good. Shelby definitely stole the show in the 1st 2 episodes. Robin and the Caribbean chef lady looked like they were gonna have an entanglement. I like how Murch played out different scenarios of approaching the Karen when he saw her dining with her friends. They really teased us with the possibility of Jordan being pregnant and giving a several flashbacks of what happened “that night”. The series flowed very well. I wish that we could’ve gotten the initial 10 episodes, but they managed to pull it off in 8.
Ashley, you are absolutely correct about Robyn and Harper. They never should have gotten married. Even in the first movie when he proposed to her at the reception, I said girl if you accept that proposal you are a fool. Their whole relationship to me was mismatched from day one. Remember they were sitting in the tub and she said she loved him and he was silent! Girl, that was your clue right there.
Exactly, I love Sanaa Lathan but I felt she should have been in the first Best Man only. There relationship was just toxic and nothing but arguments and disagreements.
I really enjoyed the serious, but the only problem I had was the fact that Shelby didn’t tell Quentin for 10yrs that he had a daughter. I felt she robbed him of that, so when Harper was ready to fight to keep Mia in the states they made him out to be the bad guy. Regardless of how he went about it, he had/has a right to want to fight to keep his daughter close. Overall this is the tv “WE” need to see about successful black educated couples/friends it shouldn’t be that hood/ghetto/drugs/violence and BM/BD drama that they assume we are.
I agree! I was surprised how everyone acted like Harper was being unreasonable. Robin was being selfish. Plus Q should have been a little more upset about finding out about his daughter.
I wanted a confrontation between Robin and Jordan. While Jordan and Harper probably should have been together, Jordan deserved to get cursed out. But not more than Harper so I guess it was best that Robin focused her anger on Harper. Robin and Harper both settled for each other.

I loved the series 🥰🥰 from what I got from it, I don’t think Jasmine was ever in his room. He had a flash of Mia, then a flash of Jasmine but when he woke up there was a light skin woman in his bed and he saw Jasmine running on the beach. It’s like he finally found someone who gave him the feeling he was missing from his wife.

Then when Merch & Candice said f$%k them kids & ate those edibles & was dancing. Then at the end when Jordan quit her job & was strutting to Break My Soul. It was so many real moments & the music was everything. Loved it!!
My favorite part was Jordan quitting.because I did the same last year. God told me you have leave now or this will break you down. Best decision of my life
I loved the series! It wrapped up everything so nicely and it was good to see the gang back together. Q is still my favorite and I was glad him and Shelby stopped playing and got together. Still feeling some kinda way about Robin taking baby girl and moving all the way to Ghana lol. I think that Robin never really felt apart of the group and you could tell when he asked for their blessing at the wedding. I agree, they should’ve just been friends from the beginning. Loved it! I like how we got a series instead of a movie because there was more depth and more meat to the story.
I absolutely love this . I said the same thing I liked that we got a series because it felt like we got a better wrap up than we would have had it been a movie.
I think the driving force in Harper was to provide for his family. In Best Man Holidays, we see him broke and having to ask for help from his friends because he was drowning. I feel he didn’t want to go back in that route. Now when he filed for custody of his daughter, he was not selfish at all. He was ok when he thought that his daughter would be nearby, but the fact that she was moving to Ghana was a no go. Robyn also had her part to play. She can’t get mad for him doing things that he wanted when she never voiced what she truly wanted or how she felt. Same thing with Mitch, he could be upset; however, you allowed your friends and family treat you that way without speaking up for yourself.
Also don't forget that Robin had good reason not to like/trust Jordyn because she almost slept with Harper in the first movie. If Lance hadn't beat him, Harper would have done it. He only told Robin because he had to explain why his face was beat up. I agree. Robin should have never married him.
I thought Robin was stupid 20 years ago for marrying Harper. I mean, didn't he just try to sleep with Jordan? So why are you marrying him 🤷♀🤷♀??? Robin should have let Harper be with Jordan from jump. I'm not sure a Harper/Jordan marriage would work either, though.
While everyone is saying Robyn is wrong or bitter for going to Africa the situation actually proves her, Murch, and Shelby right. He has the opportunity to write from anywhere. Earlier in the show he actually leaves home to work on his novel. His wife and child are without heat and he still didn't come home , so traveling wouldn't stop that. He has the movie reaching 75 million at the box office, plus royalties from the bumper G series, and a host of other offers on the table money is not an issue. He stopped working on his reconstruction piece while writing the movie, and was planning to work on a second while finding time to cheat so being a better writer wasn't his concern. This is after she begrudgingly moved from their long time home to inspire his journey for more. He chose to stay in New York for himself to spite Robin's dream because she wanted a divorce. He gave her primary custody cause he thought she would stay close and be convenient again. She had found a place in New York that would have tethered her there and he let the opportunity pass, so when she left and found another place to be tethered to she chose what was best for her. While he was saying he wanted to five minutes from his child he could have moved to Ghana to be 5 minutes from his child. He always choose himself.
I want to start by saying that Harper was 100% wrong for cheating on Robyn. Outside of that, though, I’m a little confused on how Harper was selfish in his relationship with Robyn. It seems that he supported her, when she wanted to do something (he even counted off a list), but Robyn had no follow-through. As for the restaurant she wanted to buy, SHE decided she wanted to jump on this space. And instead of HER doing the work to get it (i.e - getting all of Harper’s questions answered), she dropped it in his lap, to get the deal done, while he was out of town. She was at home, & couldn’t even tell him the PRICE, when she called him about it. Yet, it’s HIS fault she didn’t get it??? She wasn’t even actively looking for a restaurant space. The produce guy just so happened to show her the place and let her know it was for sale. Even when he mentioned it to her. Her 1st reaction was, “Oh!!! That was just a dream”, and he convinced her to go for it. Yet AGAIN, though, Harper was selfish for not being considerate of what she wanted??? And I’m not going to even get on the custody/Africa situation…I have ranted long enough. 😊😊😊
He’s selfish because he was all about himself. When she really needed him, he was not there. Throwing money at things doesn’t mean you can’t be selfish. Also, he was selfish for marrying her when he knew that he was settling because he really wanted Jordan
It superseded my see expectations forreal! Robin & Harper....life imitates art. Hopefully Harper will find a new love. Candiace and Merch....fav couple. Glad they are still strong Shelby and Quentin....congratulations Im sooo happy for LJ, Lance and Jasmine. Never thought I would be open to a new love interest since the amazingly underrated Monica Calhoun (Mia) but Jasmine is so precious. I agree. I think they should expand on it and give us 2 more seasons.
It was really good BUT it also finished in an UNFINISHED way for some characters so I'm like... yall tryna run this limited series status back and try again next year because we could all stand to see more black folks just living, loving, learning and some not learning a damn thing.. we need more of it!
I loved every bit of this series!!! Harper was absolutely selfish and I applaud Robin for staying as long as she did. Q and Shelby was my fav couple!!!! I will watch this over and over again!!!!
I thought it was interesting to learn Harper & Quentin have known each other since 9th grade and that's why he picked him to be best man. I don't think we knew that before this series 🤔
Some many unknowns: what happened to Q's dad, did he sell the resort, did Candace unorthodoxed research get slammed in the media or by the school, did lance marry the reception lady, why didnt Murch murk the professor...i mean he was taking mma classes, i thought Robin would end up with the cute guy that sold veggies or at least explore as a possibility, did Jordyn give up her career for good, what happened to the guy she met on vacation
Q & Shelby as a couple I was here for! It all worked. I loved how they covered the changes throughout the years and all topics they felt with were relevant to what we were dealing with in the world! ❤
You're absolutely right. It's weird how we have progressed in many ways but regressed in the most oddest ways. With as many of us as there is, why can't we have a show like Living Single, Family Matters, Sister Sister being a huge success without it being about the drug game and corruption? The only black shows that are able to get multiple seasons are Power and those types of shows, sad.
The series was really good. Shelby and Q had the best character development and I was lowkey mad that the writer didn’t make Jordan and Harper be together. Like after all them years of them liking each other and all that chemistry for both of them just to end up by themselves. The writer definitely owe us another season because Harper wrote another book just about him and Jordan. And Speaking of Bondy I wrote in her comment section yesterday about doing a now that we are grown about the first best man. Hopefully she saw my comment and will do one. I will definitely tune in. I love when she does those reviews.
I had a problem with Harper cheating on his wife. If he wasn’t married to Robyn, I think I would have felt ok about Him and Jordyn hooking up. Overall, it was a wonderful series!
They both have strong personalities and would argue all the time about getting their way. They would probably have good sex, but like my auntie would say, "What are you going to do for the other 23 hours of the day?" 😂
I binged the series yesterday and I absolutely loved it 🥰...it was very layered and had me on an emotional rollercoaster...I have to give the whole cast their props...and I am sorry...but that "slap heard around the world" reference had me hollering 😂😂😂
I realized how Inattentive he was to Robyn when she jumped off that boat 🛥️ and he didn’t go after her to save her or to be by her side and Jordyn was coming up the stairs he helped her up and left Robyn to get out the water herself. I understood at that moment He literally does not Put her First. Whewww that was eye opening that’s why I wasn’t upset at her luving on that eye candy, the produce guy and she could relate to him more than Harper
Merch and Candice started a charter school. Merch is also an attorney. Harper was several types of disrespectful when he thought that it was okay for him to hangout all night with his ex. Ashley, I agree with you about Demetrius "Terry Silver" being an ass .
The Best Man series shows the TRUE definition of real friends and I love to see us blk folk supporting each other, loving one another, being there for one another through the good and bad and I love how they showed the down sides of getting older and embracing it!! I also liked how they showed them dealing with issues such as social media, the son coming out and how the father was dealing with that. I like how Robin finally stood up for herself cuz Mr. Harper was very selfish and she went after her dreams, I also loved how they showed relationships are not always rainbows and unicorns it's hard and all relationships go through a rough patch..
I really enjoyed the series. Everyone showed their acting chops. Morris Chesnut really showed his acting range across all of these films and the series. He embodied the reality of a widower and issues with parenting. This series was amazing and I wanted much more.
If selfish was a person it would be Harper but I definitely gagged when Robyn thought it was okay to take their daughter to an entire different continent without his knowledge. If she wants to globe trot, so be it. He had every right to file for custody. Harper was right to a certain extent. Robyn is flighty. In the very first movie, her character was known for having passion projects and then forgetting about it. In this series she wanted to move to that island, but never brought it up again. She moves with the wind. Harper allowed her to grow but she kinda dismissed him when he wanted more from his writing. They both were selfish. In the end, I’m glad they were able to amicably co-parent.
Ashley, you are an amazing story teller. I pray you get an audio book deal, because I literally don't even feel that I need to watch the show lol. I literally come to hear your part first then I watch the shows.
Women always have to sacrifice their wants and needs for their families. She wanted to be somewhere else that would make her happy. Why does she have to suffer so he can see his child when they would’ve still been together if he wasn’t willing to cheat. Even after he always neglected her needs she still have to do what’s best for him. That’s the crazy reality that most women have to deal with and it sucks. I couldn’t move to another state because my child’s father didn’t want his child in another state even though he never saw her any damn way. I had to wait until she graduated high school and now we both moved out of state. Most of the time it’s about control and making you suffer because you didn’t continue to put up with their bullshit.
It was awesome I’ve watched it twice at this point once with babe Thursday and tonight with mommy, she on episode six now, yelling at Lance. ❤❤ Yiu always know what we want! Thanks for reviewing.
Great review!! I appreciate you getting into it! I definitely loved the series & could have stayed for more! I too felt like Robin should have left years ago.. honestly.
I am also on the same page with you about the shows that down us and show us negatively. I used to watch vh1 alot and haven't in years because it just became toxic and problematic.
Happy that you made this review. The Best Man movie & the sequel are 2 of the greatest black movies in history & this series just made the whole Best Man brand a major success in the history of African-American cinema.
I just finished it, I really liked it! Q and Merch were always my favorites. But I loved Shelby with Q. I laughed so hard in the last episode in that argument, when Q told Harp"Keep my wife name out yo mouth", that was hi' larious, but this was really worth watching. If I had a least favorite, it would be Harp, but still a good watch!
Love the Shelby and Candace characters. Harper is the most toxic of all the friends. LoL. The only thing I didn't like was the first 2 episodes and how they skated over the reveal Kennedy being Quenton's dghtr. That was unrealistic, but other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the series
Right I was expecting some drama to come of that. But Terrence’s acting convinced me that his character always knew and was so happy for the confirmation that he didn’t want to waste time.
Honestly I love that Harper and Robyn names their daughter Mia bcuz in the Bestman Holiday they were all close to Mia so it was like paying homage to her for example my grandmother passed away 8yrs ago my niece was pregnant at the time and when she gave birth that year she named her daughter after her I thought that was very nice of them and besides they had to get Lance's blessing as well
I’m pretty sure the issue is the fact that even though they all loved Mia, they name their daughter after someone Harper slept with and the messiness of it all
Beyond all of the drama, I really loved seeing a close friend group of very successful Black professionals. It was really great to see. Everyone had their own thing going on and was making moves. It was very inspiring. Shelby and Quentin were the standout couple for me. Harper was being a typical dude choosing wrong than wanting to rebound with the woman he actually wanted from the jump and I’m glad Jordan turned him down. Glad Lance came to his senses. I hate that it took him almost losing his LJ to come around but sometimes it takes drastic measures for people to see what’s more important in life. I’m glad Murch found a way to channel his anger and Candace got justice for that old creep. I just knew he was gonna try to pull something with her. Yeah Robyn let him settle for her and allowed too much but glad she decided to put her foot down and did what was best for her. Mia was so adorable. I loved that little girl. I knew that was Silver from Power because he annoyed me immediately. I knew no hood was coming from him, especially finding out he did Jordan bad. Good riddance to the overseer. It was an amazing series and ending. I hope more films/shows get an ending like that 😊
Thanks for speaking on the proposal at the wedding. Shows how it’s always been about Harper. He was not even wanted at the wedding but he came ready to propose. Like who does that???
One more thing, we all know that Harper and Jordan have a thing for each other from the beginning. This would have been cool if they ended up finally being together. Maybe a Season II???
Shelby was truly the standout character throughout the final chapters, Q was the runner up!
Crazy how they ended up being the healthiest couple

I believe our best black dramas came out in 90s..early 2000. It was excellent
The 90s and early 00s was the golden era
Also don't forget that Robin had good reason not to like/trust Jordyn because she almost slept with Harper in the first movie. If Lance hadn't beat him, Harper would have done it. He only told Robin because he had to explain why his face was beat up.
I agree. Robin should have never married him.
Even the fact that they were all up on each other in the series after his movie premiere
Absolutely agreed. Robyn was never a priority for Harper.
Glad they are still strong
Shelby and Quentin....congratulations
Im sooo happy for LJ, Lance and Jasmine.
I loved it. Robin got on my nerves. Love how they made it relevant with everything going on today including Karen’s lol. I really hate it’s the end.
I thought it was only me ..Robin was annoying asf.. Glad she left Harper so she could finally be happy
I didn't like Shelby in the movie, but I actually liked her on the final chapters
GURL! My gay ass thought the EXACT same thing about Robyn & the Jamaican chef lady. I just KNEW they were gonna run off into the sunset together 😫🤣🤣
Yes. Shacking it up in the shack 😳😂
I am not even gay but I was thinking of Robin and this lady on the island was about Marvin Gaye and getting on
I thought I was the only one that saw it. I was watching it and I was like is Harper about be a divorcee ?
1000%
Same !!!
Same here too..especially when she told Harper they should stay on the island
Some many unknowns: what happened to Q's dad, did he sell the resort, did Candace unorthodoxed research get slammed in the media or by the school, did lance marry the reception lady, why didnt Murch murk the professor...i mean he was taking mma classes, i thought Robin would end up with the cute guy that sold veggies or at least explore as a possibility, did Jordyn give up her career for good, what happened to the guy she met on vacation
You need to send these questions to the writer of the series! Maybe we’ll get lucky.
@@lynej2011I agree 100
Omg yesss everything you said was facts & our girl Bondy did do it for Best Man. It’s on her page & it was really good ❤
She did the review yesterday 12/28...love Bondy too and her "Now that we are grown"
I had a problem with Harper cheating on his wife. If he wasn’t married to Robyn, I think I would have felt ok about Him and Jordyn hooking up. Overall, it was a wonderful series!
Nicole ari Parker was a fool 😂😂😂😂
She and Q had zero chemistry.
Right. I was hollerin at Xiomora Amani. Not her being okay with Shelby tipping and dipping with Q. Chiiiiiiiile
I don't think Jordan and Harper make a good couple. They have sexual chemistry, nothing else clicks.
What else doesn't click to you about them?
Completely agree!!!
They both have strong personalities and would argue all the time about getting their way. They would probably have good sex, but like my auntie would say, "What are you going to do for the other 23 hours of the day?" 😂
They don't even have sexual chemistry. Jordan and Harper have brother/sister chemistry.
Even them kissing on the couch was awkward 🤷♀🤷♀.
They were both career driven. That caused conflict with Robyn. Could be a welcome change with Jordan or a recipe for disaster.
I binged the series yesterday and I absolutely loved it 🥰...it was very layered and had me on an emotional rollercoaster...I have to give the whole cast their props...and I am sorry...but that "slap heard around the world" reference had me hollering 😂😂😂
I laughed so hard! 😂
Im so glad the did a mini seris i loved it so much I loved Sheby &Q they had the best Character Devlopment🥹🫶🏾
I wished they would have touched more on Shelby keeping the fact that her daughter was actually Quinton’s daughter.
She wasn’t on Harper’s level. Intellectual and a chef . 🤣
Yes I’m the same way with Terry Silver! Everytime he showed up, I rolled my eyes!! 😂😂
Leave him alone 😂😂😂
Yes!! Like ugh a sneaky snake. 😂
He has a douche vibe. 🙄 😆
Exactly 😂 💯 😂
I need them to make more seasons because this was really good
Shelby dancing for Quintin reminded me of Beyonce dancing for Terrence Howard
Right. He was soooooooo mesmerized 😂😂😂😂😂
@@freddy8479 😂😂😂😂😂
We need more series with quality actors and roles. I love seeing black actors with good stories on tv!!
Merch and Candice started a charter school. Merch is also an attorney. Harper was several types of disrespectful when he thought that it was okay for him to hangout all night with his ex. Ashley, I agree with you about Demetrius "Terry Silver" being an ass .
not Silver 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭
I agree. I am not in to the fighting, drugs, killing and gangster type movies or shows. So I really enjoyed the movies and series.
Jordyn is like my mom...she doesn't take care of her self and is ambitious when it comes to her work.
I really liked The Final Chapter. It was great and I wish there were more
I really enjoyed the series.
I loved it so much! I want a full series with multiple seasons.
Me TOO! They can’t leave us hanging like this😮
Ashley, you are an amazing story teller. I pray you get an audio book deal, because I literally don't even feel that I need to watch the show lol. I literally come to hear your part first then I watch the shows.
Hey boo❤❤I’m glad you did another video before Christmas! I needed something to watch while wrapping gifts. Happy Holidays Y’all 🎄💚❤️💚❤️
Women always have to sacrifice their wants and needs for their families.
I watched it in one sitting too! I was up until 7am 😂 now I’m mad that I did that
It was awesome I’ve watched it twice at this point once with babe Thursday and tonight with mommy, she on episode six now, yelling at Lance. ❤❤ Yiu always know what we want! Thanks for reviewing.
Hey Ashley!! Thank you for this!! I loved the series!!! Enjoy your break!! ❤️❤️
I agree we need that flavor back now. I'm still watching the series but I'm loving it so far. I hope they reconsider and make more.
You and Bondy should do a collaboration on a Now That We're Grown for The Best Man, please make it happen 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
That’s a genius idea!!! 👏🏾
I’m hoping for a B.A.R (Bondy, Ashley, Rox) collaboration video someday.
@@Vincent-ky2jw Now that would be awesome
Both ideas are good!!
"greatest Black movies in history" I LOVE AND ADMIRE YOUR APPRECIATION....but pump your breaks....🤣🤣🤣
Great recap!! I enjoyed the series. Happy Holidays Ashley. Thank you!!
Great review Ashley. Thank you for calling Harper out for being a jerk. He was messy with Jordan. He was messy writing that book. He was selfish AF.
Part of me is sad that this is a limited series ,but then again I don't want this franchise to be dragged out.
I enjoyed it so much I couldn't believe I was on the last episode. I wanted more! Great recap Ashley.
All I can say is BLACK DONT CRACK...they ALL looked exactly the same🙌🏾
and ALL in their 50s. Murch is almost 60 in real life
Thank you for this gift 🎁 Merry Christmas 🎄
Yess. I definitely got the gay vibes with Robyn and that lady . I thought she was going to come out to Harper lol.
Great review and happy holidays!
I’ve always felt like Harper and Robin should have never gotten married
Love the Shelby and Candace characters. Harper is the most toxic of all the friends. LoL. The only thing I didn't like was the first 2 episodes and how they skated over the reveal Kennedy being Quenton's dghtr. That was unrealistic, but other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the series
Right I was expecting some drama to come of that. But Terrence’s acting convinced me that his character always knew and was so happy for the confirmation that he didn’t want to waste time.
@@hezronfekitoa8296 exactly but he and Shelby had just got married so he would be in her life regardless if he was her dad or not.
@@Melanin360Studio by not wasting time, I mean being angry at Shelby for waiting so long to tell him/admit.
Ashley! Good commentary!!!
OMG!! I found your channel and LOVE your commentary. I'm a new subscriber. Great job sweetheart. .
Great review Ashley 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I love the series, they did an excellent job ♥️
You are the bomb at what you do girl❤️❤️❤️
I really enjoyed the entire series as well. Even though it was in episode form I thought it felt like a movie. They really did a great job
watchin now ..was hoping you reviewed this ..Thanks
I did too!!! Merry Christmas!
They made Robyn so miserable but it was a great series !
Yes!!! I hated that
I really enjoyed the series too . I had a problem with Harper naming the daughter Mia . Kinda weird to mw.
I understand what you mean
Honestly I love that Harper and Robyn names their daughter Mia bcuz in the Bestman Holiday they were all close to Mia so it was like paying homage to her for example my grandmother passed away 8yrs ago my niece was pregnant at the time and when she gave birth that year she named her daughter after her I thought that was very nice of them and besides they had to get Lance's blessing as well
I’m pretty sure the issue is the fact that even though they all loved Mia, they name their daughter after someone Harper slept with and the messiness of it all
@@AshleyMillerTV precisely. Bc I don’t know any black women who would do that lol.
Yooo I was feeling the queer vibes between Robyn and Savannah too. I was sooo hoping something would happen.
I always thought Robin was gay people be knowing maybe that is why she stayed in that relationship
or at least, "BI-CURIOUS"
Thank u for reviewing this. I'm hoping it can go into a sitcom (like 'Friends') featuring all of the characters.
Why Robin said she was done was when he blew off checking out her restaurant she wanted. It was something she really wanted and he didn't care.
As well as not having as much as some HEAT in the 🏠!!!!
I hope more films/shows get an ending like that 😊
I just finished the season and I need more. I enjoyed it almost more than the movies.
Thanks for speaking on the proposal at the wedding. Shows how it’s always been about Harper. He was not even wanted at the wedding but he came ready to propose. Like who does that???
Great review!
I loved it, and was actually satisfied at the end.
The Best Man could easily be a yearly series. I really enjoyed this show.
I no longer watch any black pain!
One more thing, we all know that Harper and Jordan have a thing for each other from the beginning. This would have been cool if they ended up finally being together. Maybe a Season II???
