Thank you Sir! I have been looking all over for this specific way to make the sls, have my materials either ordered and in the way or here waiting, then will come back and rewatch to put it all together! Awesomeness!
Thanks for this video. Yours is the best DYI SLS build I've seen. I was watching another tutorial and they said once they downloaded the software on their Win 10 tablet the touch screen no longer worked. You didn't seem to have any trouble with this. Any insight on why this happened and how to prevent it?
Not sure to be honest. I can say that I don't use SLS anymore and I've since disassembled it. I think it's because the software drivers weren't available.
Thank you soooo much. I'm starting very carefully investigating paranormal. I have been in the security filed since 1998 and have had so many experiences over the years. I have a extra Kinect and have always wanted to build a SLS. Thank-you for this video, again. This is amazing. Look forward to more of your videos.
This is also me. I started podcast just talking about experiences that happened with me, my family and friends. Thank you again and I will contact you.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, it was the exact set up I was looking for.The only issue I was having was getting the kinect sdk and toolkit v1.8 to install on windows 10. Luckily I was able to figure it out. Instead of downloading and saving the setup in the tablet, hit run and the installation will start. One tip, if anyone is buying a windows 10 tablet, I recommend getting one with at least 64GB of memory instead of 32GB, since windows 10 itself takes about 20+ GBs of memory, plus everything else running your tablet, it only lets you keep about 6GB of free storage, which is enough to install and run the kinect software but not enough room for anything else, or be sure you can add a SD card for additional memory.
Hi, I know its been years since you posted this. And I built one following everything and it was so easy. But question the view is in reverse. Is there a way to correct that ? Thabks for your time, Bill
I'm having trouble running my camera in daylight outside. Is there anything i can to fix this? in the dark this works perfectly. Thank you for this video.
First of all thank you for this detailed and easy step by step video. I just have a quick question. Would it be easy to cut off the excess wires giving the allotted length to plug into the tablet and power pack using heat shrink splice connects and then shrinking a sleave over the connecters?
You could do all of that if you have the skills to correctly perform those tasks. I just tried to make something that the average person could do themselves. I actually don't even use the SLS camera anymore, plus there is apps that save you a ton of money and really do the same thing. Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it.
@@TheEverythingParanormalShow I'm a bit old school. I like the real thing. I don't have faith in a lot of the ghost hunting apps, most are for entertainment purposes. I use a 1 tb sd card so I can record a lot of footage if need be. Well as long as the power pack last which is usually longer than the tablet or cellphone . I know you can buy power packs for those too. But I was just curious if it was more of a hassle to shorten the cords than it was worth. Thank you for your reply.
@@TheEverythingParanormalShow I have another question. I'm using the same IPad that you have on your video. it works great. The only issue I'm having is figuring out how to get it to record the footage so I can add it to any findings that might come up. Many thanks for your help.
This is an old build but the reason for a windows tablet is due to the kinect software that has to be run. Android and Apple doesn't seem to have the ability to run that software.
@The Everything Paranormal Show I've tried some apps BUT I don't know if they are any more reliable than an actual kinect that's obviously built for mapping. Apps need to be used with precaution, especially the abundance of readily available ghostbox apps, in my opinion. At the end of the day, I don't know what's embedded in the code of those apps. As a seasoned paranormal researcher and paranormal tool builder, I try not to use anything that's not trusted or questionable when out on locations. I definitely feel that the SB7 spiritbox is authentic and as real as it gets as it clearly spoke out my name out on location once and has also spoken intelligent replies to questions that I asked. Now I live in Taiwan and English is not the native language here and in my area there isn't a radio station transmitting in English, so you have to wonder how this is possible. I don't use so-called portal boxes in conjunction with an SB7, nothing but glorified amps with guitar pedals and pretty LED lights that tend to manipulate, manufacture audio and has to be 100% questionable. The devices I've personally hand-built I 100% trust as I know there's nothing iffy about them and I know their ins and outs.
@The Everything Paranormal Show .. Will the Kinect work on a Dell Optiplex 3010 Intel I5 Quad-Core 3.1 GHz Processor with 8GB of RAM with 1TB HDD SATA.. USB PORTS 2.0 ???? .. I'd like to use a desktop as our paranormal research will be at a fixed location rather than mobile that needs a battery, mounting hardware and all the little things for tripods and such... Any help would be much appreciated, thank you..
That's a good question. From my understanding it needs a USB 3.0 port. I was told by another veteran sls user that 2.0 ports won't work. Remember, 2.0 ports are more limited in the amount of data it can transfer so that's probably why SLS needs a 3.0 port.
Honestly, I'm not sure. I had one from a 360. You would have to see if a different model works. My son never played his 360 anymore and I'm a Playstation kind of guy, so I'm not familiar with any other models. sorry.
You shouldn't need the adapter if you have a tablet that supports windows 10. It should have a USB 3.0 port. I didn't end up using it. If the link isn't in the description then I'm afraid I don't have it anymore, sorry. Good luck on your build though.
Do you have any idea if the Kinect power adapter you have will work with a Xbox One Kinect? I know you have it listed specific for the 360 Kinect just curious if both Kinect sensors use the same connector.
Honestly, I'm not sure. I know that when other people have deviated, they ran into errors. A 360 kinect is usually super cheap. I would imagine the power adapter would work if they have the same plugs.
@@TheEverythingParanormalShow ok thanks. Maybe I'll just try it. I have a Kinect from my Xbox One just laying around so figured I would try and make one.
Really good video. I had the Kinect 360 working on a laptop with Windows 7 but now when I go into Kinect Explorer it says device not ready. The laptop has usb 2 ports and when I go into Device Manager all the drivers look fine. When I plug the Kinect 360 into the laptop Windows detects the Kinect 360. It's just the Kinect Express saying it's not ready. I also have a UnBranded tablet with Windows 8.1 and a micro usb 3 port but Windows doesn't even see the Kinect 360 when I plug it into the port. Just wondering if you came across any of these problem and may have a fix or two. Thank you.

I was gonna buy the HP Stream 7 tablet, but it only has 1GB of ram and it says on microsoft's site that it would need 2 GB of ram in order to run the Kinect Developer Toolkit. Do you think it's still possible that it could run on that tablet? I saw a review video earlier in which a guy played GTA5 on the tablet...
