Tell me, if you've already converted the camera to IR, why do you need the IR lights to record? Why not record with just camera? Maybe I'm missing something lol
because the action cams don’t come with and IR light on them. so if you took the IR lens of but didn’t light up the room with IR light it would still be pitch black to the camera.
Thank you so much for sharing this! This is perfect for anyone, investors just starting out and an inexpensive way for the seasoned investigators as well. I love your channel. Thanks to Nuke's top 5 I found you guys!
Thank you for showing this, and honestly making it a lot easier to follow than other videos I've seen of people doing it. It shocks me that none of these companies already making these just sells them without the filter, bundle it with an infrared light, and make a fair amount more for those that don't want to do this.
Edit: There seems to be a new model that has a little black cover over the sensor inside the camera instead of on the back on the lense. You just need a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the little black square covering the sensor. This is the link for the Geekcam 4k camera I modified in this video. amzn.to/2xDTMNs
The Haunted Side - Paranormal Investigations. Must be selling different cameras with ir filter built into lense. Bought camera and tried to do the trick, but when I unscrewed the lens you can see a different setup on the rear. No more square with filter on it. The link may be faulty now. Anyone else run across this? Can send pics if needed.

The Haunted Side - Paranormal Investigations this would be the shiny sensor as soon as you unscrew the lens? I’ll take a look again. Just not sure if I need to go further into the camera.
@@thehauntedside First off, let me thank you for trying to help us out with this. I went back in looking for the "little back cover over the sensor inside the camera". I again unscrewed what I believe you refer to as the lense. Afterwards I looked into the camera and indeed saw a black square covering what I interpret you to mean as the sensor. However could not free it using a needle nose, or a couple other tools I tried. Only succeeded in breaking the square plastic leaving the rest of the sensor. Took a couple of pics but not sure I'll be able to send them out. Gonna try to reasemble now and hopefully the little cam will still work. Not to confident about that, to damaged. I'd suggest unless you have another answer for us, you take down your how to video soon. Again, thanks for your time... PfB~
This does NOT work on the newer Geekam camera. I have been through two now and all it did was break both ways I tried. The first being removing the entire black square from the sensor and the second, just cracking the glass out carefully while leaving the black trim in tact, both resulted in the camera turning on and freezing at the home screen logo. DO NOT TRY UNLESS YOU HAVE THE OLD MODEL!
Patrick! I got this to work. Just have a few questions for you. I’m about to buy the IR light, but wanting to know what battery pack you use to connect the IR light and the camera to? This was an awesome video! Thank you for a cheaper way to have a static cam.
For those interested, the Goodmans action cam (which I bought from B+M) can be easily done. I did so to mine yesterday and now just waiting for my IR light to be delivered. I don’t remember the price of the cam but it’s somewhere between £20-£25. I don’t know if they sell them anymore but it’s can’t hurt to look online for one. Hope this helps somebody 🙂
Hi , does it have to that brand of camera ? Can you adapt any of the budget action cameras ? I’m in the UK and we don’t have many options to buy the GeeKam brand . Thank you x
Somehow ended up breaking my camera following this video at 3:15. The tube that hold the lens and IR filter and that was supposed to click and unscrew, somehow was glued way harder than in a video. So while trying to unscrew it with a pliers, ended up with the cracking sound of the base of this plastic support near the sensor. The whole thing just come off, while the "tube" still sitting inside things base. Bad luck.

I can't figure out what's going wrong. I know I'm picking up IR light. I can see the signal from my remote. However, I have had no luck using an IR flashlight. How far does the IR light panel shine?
that one is like 90 feet. they make some that go further though!
