I was very surprised how good the Elac’s sound.

The Elac and SF sound pretty close. The Technics sounds way different, and not for the better. I think I might go with the Elac.

An interesting shootout. Elac & SF are more similar than different. The soundstage and stereo is a little broader on UBR62, vs Sonetto 1. Open sound on Sonus against a bit darker sound of Elac. Both speakers are excellent. The Technics is just a third wheel over here.

Elac sounds the most natural, uncolored to me, without knowing prices for any of these speakers. Thank you for the comparason. I am listening with Elac Reference DBR62 speakers, no sub. Does that matter? Dont know, but my Elacs sound very neutral also. Like real instruments. I play over 20 kinds, so I have a good idea about real sound...

    Using Sennheiser hd600
Technics are definitely my least favorite.
I think I prefer the elac. I felt I heard a bit of voice coloration in the SF.
I would like to have heard Polk r200 in the mix.

Didn't test the Polk r200 yet, hope to do it soon.

The Sonettos really sound nice. Super natural sounding which SF is known for. I wasn't all that impressed with SF because some of their lower-end speakers lack dynamics (can't really speak to the top tier models) but I can't deny they tune their speakers to sound more natural than most.

    • @MadAudiofficial

Natural and timber accuracy is probably the best thing of the Sonetto, totally agree with you👍🏽

First of all, I would like to thank you very much for this comparo. I know this video was a lot of work for sure. Two speakers stand out for sq. The UBRs, and Sonetto 1s, the Technics sound broken compared with the other two. I hear more high frequency resolution and refinement out of the Sonettos, which is typical when you compare a 2 way vs 3 way designs. What is less appealing to my ears is an upper midrange bump out of the SF speakers. There's just too much of it. That makes it sound lean compared to the Elacs. The bass and soundstage depth out of the UBR62s is superior to the sonetto speakers. The Technics have a honky midrange and have a very flat soundstage vs the competition. It isn't a total loss for the Technics because their bass is nice and tuneful. This video is responsible for my purchase of a pair of Elacs. I just bought some UBR62s. Thanks again. Keep your videos coming. Just subscribed.

Sonetto is clear and a bit bright. Technics very strange, can do some things and not others.
Elac's sound high-end. Imaging and overall musicality is impressive. Make you to want to forget you are comparing and continue listening to the music.

Well , through my Sennheiser headphones via my laptop I would go for the SB-C600s , but through my Jungson class A set up I might be more inclined towards the UBR62 because of the Jungsons razor sharp presentation .
Congratulations on an excellent test comparison .
May I suggest another really well recorded track for any future speaker sound tests which I suggest covers a wide range of frequencies etc . The piece is , Three Sisters , by Beats Antique , featuring Tatyana Kalmykova and her Vox Drone Viola which sounds absolutely staggering on my much modified vintage stand mount RTR D100s and I'm sure you will appreciate the track on these fine sounding small speakers too .

Hey Mad Audio! I just wanted to say i love your Comparison Videos. They are very helpful. Is it possible to get some hip hop into the mix though? :) i mainly listen to artists from the 90's and its very hard to find a channel that shows these type of music with good equipment.

The Elac UBR62 Sound Repoduction Is More Natural , Wider & Micro Details Are Fully Transparent Than The Sonetto 1 & The Technics SB-C600 Speakers , Hence My Choice Is Obviously Elac UBR 62 Speakers ........

During the track Funky Blue the Technics were inferior, not only Depth but the Bass & Hi Hats too. It was a crystal clear demo and for those with ears like mine this was crucial. This may have just saved me from buying them.

Which one is more tolerant when it comes to placement on a low board - relatively close to the wall - UBR62 or Sonetto 1?

    • @freef49

I'd assume is't the UBR62, the recommended distance is only 30cm.

For Metal, Rock, Jazz, vocals, Orchestral music, Movies, wow. Elac just kicks it. On some speakers (like my B&W's), rock snd metal just sounds like crap! Really bad crap... I played rock and pop live with bands. Tube amps with paper cone drivers. That is the sound of rock. Elacs can do that and more

Le Elac sono le migliori di questo test, ma sono brutte infami. Le Sonetto sono le più belle ma secche e troppo taglienti sugli alti. La Technics una via di mezzo.
