Who’s ready for an epic AMG v BMW showdown?!
Mat’s lining up for this all-new drag race in the absolutely AWESOME Mercedes-AMG SLS Black Series! This AMG monster is powered by a glorious 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 under the bonnet, which puts down 631hp & 635Nm of torque! It’s rear-wheel drive and weighs in at 1,550kg.
What’s more, it’s worth an eye-watering £700,000 these days… So take it easy out there, Mat!!

@@brennan2553 amg gtr has sufficient amount of turbo lag. Tbh the only thing the amg gtr has going for it is a tad bit more torque. It's heavier, has less hp, and it's shorter

Looks wise the SLS is so much more exotic and expensive looking than the AMG GT
The AMG GT looks and feels much exotic than the SLS to be honest.

BMW impressed me only for the fact that it gave such a good fight to SLS which had more power and lighter weight than Beemer. Nice drag indeed 👍

exactly! SLR has such a timeless design! but it's hated by a lot of people for some reason.
While the SLS looks and performs well, A W204 C63 still sounds better. (or Mat needs to up his sound game.)

So what we’ve learned is that BMW straight 6 is an amazing engine
and paired with a pretty decent gearbox too.
A good launch control and a good transmission doesnt makes the engine “good”

Great race as usual and your m3 still looks epic in that green but surely some of the camera lads could have warned you about the just out of bed hair look! or maybe just a lot of static electricity off the sls roof lining.

Anyway, the 50mph comfort mode reaction test is too long. Surely the point is how sharply cars will pick up with no warning. Yet you allow ages afterwards for a 'raw power' car to claw back an initial deficit.

Errrrr has it? There both single clutch autos. Bmw had better gearboxes 12 years ago in the E92.

Launch control systems have also made big improvements, as have torque converters. Unfortunately, the SLS didn't have a particularly good DCT even for the time.

Yeah, twin turbo inline 6 vs NA V8. Turbos are the future. But there’s nothing like the feel or response of a NA engine.

The SLS might have had cold brakes. Since it has carbon ceramics they need to have a certain temp to function properly
Yeah, I think they over-looked this.
The M3 can have ceramic too, however I’m not sure if they are spec’d on Matt’s M3.

@Andres Maurer I'm not making excuses I literally just wanna know if an m8 is faster on track too😂I own a bmw and a Mercedes and coincidentally I literally just moved from Tucson Arizona so yea I know what the driving there is like. Most people I know drive fast but don't race stoplight to stop light. Especially on the highway. Both bmw and Mercedes are good highway cruisers and both plenty fast enough but in this case I wanna know if an old track focused Mercedes can still beat a new drag racing king on the track.

I had the opportunity to race a SLS in my 2018 BMW M4 Competition pushing 500HP, though mine was slightly slower I was surprised to be able to keep up and literally be behind him, these new M3/M4's are no joke with the right tuning
