Mike, while you move and set up the house and shop, video that. Take us all on the move with you. The build of the shop the tour of the garage, dont think all of your videos need to be lathe turnings. We are all here and we love Mike the lathe turner, so you get to expand your content with shop set up and the move of your shop. THAT is also quality content, and remember shorts qualify as content upload too. I for one would love a video tour of your soon to be shop and the evolution of it becoming your space. Mike, I came for the wood turning but you are truly an inspirational man. You’re clearly a humble man of great integrity and you have my upmost respect. How you can keep so level headed and optimistic in such a situation is beyond me. Wishing you and your family the very best during the next month or so and beyond. Thanks so much my friend, between you and me I did have a little dry yesterday while I was trying to work on the video for next week, I was rushing and making a few mistakes which I was mad at myself for. We have spent all weekend trying to sort things out and getting rid of a lot of things we are not taking and I was trying to work while tired and emotional, so I have given myself a talking to and will start afresh tomorrow after work. we will get there and I need to realise that some things are more important and I can only do so much. As an adoptive parent, I am deeply touched that you and your wife are fostering needy children. I have appreciated your honesty and integrity since I began watching your videos, but knowing this about you intensifies my admiration. As papaduck said, I would be interested in watching you pack up your workshop, and plan for and install your new workshop. I am not a woodturner or woodworker, though I am fascinated to watch it. But my interest would be even stronger to see how you make this transition. Perhaps just set up one camera, and give us a timelapse of packing and unpacking, unedited and even silent. Oh no Mike! I'm glad you found a suitable place so quickly. I too live on an island where land is premium. Same thing happened with my landlord. I ended up depleting my savings and building an off grid cabin on a friend's farmland. Best thing that ever happened to me. Wishing you and your family the best possible transition.

I feel for you, Mike, I moved my frameshop/woodshop last year. It had been in the same location for 47 years. I can tell you there will be moments of being overwhelmed, but you will be amazed at helpful friends and family and in the end, it is a chance to re-think, re-design, and re-start with new enthusiasm. I wish you patience, stamina and humor.

Awesome! Thank you and good luck with your turning, I'm sure you will be better than me in no time. Best advice I can give is to finish every piece you start (as long as it is not in pieces) it is very tempting to give up and start on the next one but don't, keep going till it's done.

Well, I can definitely watch my many favorites a few times more! I’m immensely pleased to know how you and your wife are a successful team too because not too many couples can say that. I was worried you were going to have to stop doing your magic all together. I had no idea what you were going to say. Whew! I look forward to seeing you in your new digs and be sure not to misplace that lovely poplar bowl so we can finish it. It will be a very special piece, which you should keep in a special place and take it with you if you move again although I hope you don’t have to move again because moving sucks.

I have only ever turned Poplar branches up to about 4in diameter, whilst it turned fairly easily I found it “hairy/fuzzy” and was difficult to obtain a smooth finish.

Wishing your daughter good luck on her exams! We have a similar test here in the US the ACTs and SATs, only with those tests it's all the subjects in one exam and it's all done in a single sitting of about half a day. I wish we were able to break it up and take 1 subject at a time like it sounds you like you guys can, because that would make it a lot less stressful!
Our kids take all their exams over a 2/3 week period and it is very stressful for them. I do feel the whole education system needs changing, all we seem to care about is % pass/fail not about the kids and how each one is an individual and special in their own way.
Can't wait to see that bowl finished. The dryer poplar wood gets the better it looks in my opinion. It's good that you found a farm house. Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏🏻!

There is absolutely no pressure to release another video until you are ready - concentrate on moving and getting settled. You often look back at times like this and think "Why on earth didn't I do this earlier?" I hope and pray this is one of those times. God bless.

The back and forth between turning the bowl blank and discussing your situation was quite the rollercoaster! I imagine it's only a tiny bit of what's going on inside your head.
