    I've been refining & extending my drawings and therefore updating my videos!
    Some people enjoy drawing a single repeat unit of the pattern and then repeating the pattern using tracing paper (me!), others enjoy drawing the pattern several times in a fuller tiling (also me!) so hence this video.
    This pattern continues to be a bit of a mystery. It's one that we haven't yet been able to find an exact historical example of. We being the FB geometry family:
    m. groups/1456961....
    What I do know is that it can be traced back to a plate in Prisse d'Avennes' late 19th century book of Islamic patterns from Cairo. It also is in keeping with the Persian wood work that you see with Orosi glass facades in Iran. Many examples exisit, hence the name.
    Regardless of it's mystery, we still love it, but would be happier seeing it in situ somewhere historically... so if you can help... do let me know!

    I absolutely love your work Samira! Thank you so much for sharing these amazing tutorials. I’ve discovered a new hobby thanks to you :)
    So i was wondering if there was a particular reason why you didnt make this in pencil? And if I were to make this in pencil would I need to keep certain things in mind?
    Also, If i wanted to fill a larger space with this pattern, should i just increase the number of circles i draw in the beginning?
    Thanks so much in advance for your response!

    • @samiramian
      @samiramian  3 роки тому

      I'm so glad! I draw in both pencil and pen... so just mood and preference, pencil is better for beginners for sure. and yes you're right you would draw a bigger arrangement of circles

    At 6.40, how do you derive the measure for the new inner circle? I cannot see how you got that!
