I made a Cannon from Brass and Stainless Steel - Розваги
What’s a good name for the cannon? Oh and (most important) it weighs 965 grams (2,1 pounds / 34 ounces) 😅
Jumping Billy.
I would call it Whistol, pistol on wheels. Also a bit crazy to know that you could build your own gun in your basement 😱!!!
Big Bertha.
Lil' Patina
Obvs the two-pounder.
Wad goes in before the ball. Put in powder, then wad, then ball and compact it with a rod. It eliminates air pockets in the propellent and makes it burn more evenly and with more force. The wadding helps seal the barrel behind the ball and provides a better velocity.
Thanks for the tipp :-)
You've got that backwards for a breech loader.
No he is right. Breech loaded rounds powder is usually in a "bag". The bag acts to keep the powder tight and supplies a seal behind the projectile. For proper ignition a pick is pushed in the wick hole to puncture the bag. This seal helps prevent hot gasses going around the projectile an burning groves in the barrel. You might put some light packing in front of a ball projectile when shooting a negative elevation, keeps the ball from rolling out. Too much packing in front could become an obstruction. The packing could act like a wedge an not allow the projectile to move. This changes a cannon into an IED.
Nice job. I hope it easier to clean match powder than black powder. For me a few hours of shooting means a night of cleaning. @@joearledge1
I know that cleaning doesn't mean a lot of work! Larry
I can't stress this enough, thank you for not talking or putting stupid music over your videos!
Mr. P, that gigantic file/rasp REQUIRES a video dedicated to just itself! Where on (or off) of Earth did you find that magnificent tool?!?!
Haha, thanks! I found it in Switzerland while I was 'shopping' in barns with my mechanics 😅
@@misterpatina If you go barn shopping again please make a video of it!
I know right. I literally "What?" When i saw that.
It's called a Farriers Rasp its used to shape horses feet after putting on shoes.
@@ad5000donnell Thank you. Now i have learned something new. 👍
25:23 - the manly quiet giggling in the background
🤣🤣🤣
The phosphor is in the friction strip and the tip of the match contains a potassium (per/) chlorate and sulfur mix.
Thanks for clarification !
make the mix more potent < make a finer powder and at rate like 70/30 mix that's a better bang !

That's pretty cool! I wasn't expecting that big of a boom from such a small cannon.
...me neither...:-D
Guns, how do they work? He essentially made a .22 caliber firearm.
Made a cannon when I was 9or something, made out of a 12mm id stainless pipe sounded louder than a 30.06 but we couldn't find it afterwards
Brilliant project. Great camera shots and I loved the way the wood grain popped out when you put finish on it.
Thanks my friend!
That was sooo cool! Now I just want to see more shots!
Maybe I’ll make a short 🙂
Nice design, excellent craftmanship, as usual!
Thanks!
Awesome stuff once again Mister Patina! Can’t wait for the next one! 😊
Thank you so much Bruce!
Awesome job. Love it. Thanks for sharing.
Youre welcome! :-)
Советские дети в младших классах это уже умели делать,из подручных средств...
Very nice machining and the cannon itself turned out great!
Thanks!
So cool!
Iam glad you enjoyed!
BEAUTIFUL!
Outstanding craftsmanship !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Jerry!
Wow también quedé sorprendido con esa herramienta lo q se puede encontrar en los mercados de pulgas es increíble gran trabajo 👍
So beautiful indeed!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks!
Superb start to finish. Cool project 😎 now about that shoddy target😉
This was so much fun to watch. You are a talented woodworker as well as machinist. And your filming is spot on. Thanks for sharing this Mr. P.
You’re welcome 🙂❤️
this was one of the finest videos ive watched , the videography , machining and epoxing a wood knot. so good thank you
Hey, thank you so much!
SUPER FANTASTIC!!!
Thanks, iam glad you like it!
Awesome!
Simply superb!
Now I want one. Maybe using #10 Percussion Caps or even 209 shotgun primers if going for .50 cal with 30 or 50 grain Black Powder pellets. And in the US all black powder is 100% legal so no issues there. I would probably do the main parts out of steal instead of brass just cause it could handle it better and last longer. Although adding rifling might be a tad tricky.
Beautiful work.Thank you for filming it and sharing whith us.I see you from Greece
Efcharisto 🙂
This is the content we want!
That's amazing!
Well done!
Thanks Scott!
Loved Every Second
Brilliant. You have done a great work 👏👏

Nicely done
Thanks Daniel!
That's awesome 💯
absolutely fantastic 😃 . Congrats !
Thanks!
Couldn't stop thinking of Christopher Lee in The Man With The Golden Gun when you were assembling the brass parts. Well done Mr P.
Thank you so much! 🙂
what an awesome cannon 👍
Love it!!! 😎
Beautiful project!! Great work!!😁👍🛠️🔧
Thanks!
SO COOL!!!! Congratulations!!!!
Rio de Janeiro -🇧🇷
Thank you so much!
Well done that man. Working with a mill and lathe are skills I envy.
Thanks Larry!
Something I really appreciate is your warning at the beginning. I've seen creators punished in the past where someone tries to recreate it only to get hurt. Never understood that as it's not the UA-camr's fault a viewer decided to attempt something that might end badly.
Fantastic. Needs wheel chocks now.
Very cool. Nice job that's a awesome little project you did
Thanks, iam glad you enjoyed!
Brilliant little cannon 👏. Thanks for sharing this great video. As always love your creativity and craftsmanship. 👍👊🎉
Thank you so much! 🙂
Insane!!!
The shot that heard around the block 😆Beautiful job on this cool little cannon!
Haha, true that! Thanks!
Truly marvellous, great coverage. Just to achieve an ornamental miniature cannon would have been splendid, but fully functioning is awesome. You are truly a master of your craft. Amazing lathe work.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate!
Absolutely great job. A very very nice canon. 👍😊
Thanks!
Me last video…you didn’t roll it!
Me this video…you fired it! Yes!!!
Hahaha, i always try to improve and make you guys happy 🙂
great build and good fun!
Thanks, iam glad you like it!
Awesome, brat! Very precise work, so much work and attitude!
Spasibo bratan! 🙂
Excellent!
Thanks!
That was great thanks .Tom
Hey Tom, thank you SO much! I really appreciate!
Beautiful work 👏👌👍😉
Thanks!
Outstanding!
Thanks!
Muy buena la construccion, me parece que aguanta bien una pequeña carga de polvora, con un perdigon de plomo. Felicitaciones.
That was so enjoyable 😊thank you ❤
Thank you 🙂
beside the nice build i always like this kind of video for learning new tricks and technics. the chalk in the file to prevent the brass from cloging it is really usefull
Iam glad you enjoyed!
Good stuff
very nice, great machining
*Wow... Your skill at making this canon is so amazing... seeing it work in slow mo was like Yikes & WOW together.... but at the end of the day this a toy but yet not a toy... especially in the wrong hands.*
Thank you so much, iam glad you like it! Now its a display piece...i think a loaf of bread is more deadly than the time it takes to make this cannon shootable :-D
That is so awesome man! Id play with that thing in the back yard all day lol
Guess what I’m doing 😅
You have to make your own breech loaded cartridges for this cannon. That could be so cool. Even if the cartridges were card stock sleeves or something the fuse can ignite easy to set off the match head propellant
Cigarette paper?
Cigarette rolling papers would be easiest.
Blackpowder is also quite easy to produce.
Nitrated paper cartridges would be best. Lots of how to videos online for that
Awesome 👍
Coolest thing I’ve seen you do and you’ve done a lot of cool things.
Thanks for the feedback, iam glad you enjoyed! More cool things incoming 🙂
Nice!
Cool channel beautiful work
Great job mate! 👍😊
Thanks man!
Nice one Got one myself more that 60 years old frontloader
Beautifully made 👍

Remember the Hand Canoneer in Age of Empires 2?
Mr. P, you are incredibly talented! Thank you for making this awesome content and sharing it with us. The little cannon is *adorable,* but powerful! I love it!
Thank you so much! iam glad you like my work!
@@misterpatinaGood sir, if I could afford it, I would honestly hire you to make something for my husband for our 6th wedding anniversary next year. I don't say that lightly - you and Dr. Beer would be the only two I would hire for something that special! My husband is my rock and has been since my health took a turn for the worse a few years ago.
You should also check „my mechanics”.Great craftmanship too...no offence misterpatina@@piparalegal2019
What a great project! Super fun to watch. What a cool thing to make, have and pass down to your son, assuming that is what you’re going to do. Disappointed about the knot it the wood. I know you can fix it. But, still. Only thing missing is your makers mark! Good to see a post sir. Hope you’re doing better. Stay safe.
Thank you so much B! I know what you mean about the knot, thought about doing a new piece, but 1) I didnt have a elm wood piece this size 2) I somehow loved the imperfection, but 3) i agree, its a weak spot - so i agree :-)
Yes, like always, i keep the projects i restore/make and...if Mr. P Jr. wants to have it one day...it´s his :-)
We´re doing better, but...not a 100%.
Thanks for your support my friend!
Elm is such nice wood, it's a shame there isn't any of it left in North America anymore.
Молодец, 👏 жду с нетерпением каждого твоего ролика, супер вещь получилась 👍👍👍
Dude, you made a Canon. Wow!!
Awesome great job
Thanks!
You must be happy with that. Well done
Iam, thanks! :-)
Very nice.
Amazing skill.
Thanks!
That was cool 👍🏻
Thanks!
Very cool indeed. I would not use modern smokeless powder (too much pressure) but black powder should be fine.
There are modern smokeless powders that are engineered for use in antique black-powder firearms.

“No, we have my mechanics at home”
