    I saw Slapshot in 91-92 and Choke handed the mic off to me for What's At Stake and let me sing the entire song. He said I sounded fucking great. He was super nice to us, I'll never forget that.

      I wish I could remember the exact date, but I saw Bad Brains & Slapshot at a show at The Channel sometime during the late 1980's. There might've even been a 3rd band, but, it was awesome.

      Sam Black Church, Bad Brains w/Chuck Moseley (HR had lost it by then) and Slapshot. At The Channel in the winter of '91-'92... Epic show.

    Saw Slapshot plenty over the years, but one of the absolute craziest shows I saw which was just so fun was Sam Black Church, Slapshot, and Bad Brains at the Channel. Great great show

      I was there. It was amazing. Even without HR, Bad Brains we’re the greatest band in the world. Slapshot was a five-piece and was just so aggressive. And SBC, well, you just had to be there. What a show.

    Totally unique voice that I’ve been a fan of for many years. The singer “makes” a HC band. Mike Judge, H.R., John Joseph, Jeff Perlin, Raybeez, Roger, Paul Bearer…

    I was at the show in Camden in November 1982 and I was totally completely in with hard-core at that point. Of course I was a Philly boy so I needed to be at that show. I think the motorcycle gang were called the ghetto riders. I lived in San Francisco for many years, and when I move back to Philly, I was the chef of this restaurant I’m one of the servers and I started to talk about that show, he was much younger, and knew about the show because he got a bootleg record of a live performance from Minor Threat, and it was called live at Buff hall, and Camden, so he gave it to me

      Joost D. When we were kids in the 80s he had a cult of personality about him. He was "violent" "unpredictable" would beat you If you had a beer in your hand or cigarette in your mouth etc. I've talked to him several times and he was a nice man. I'm intrigued how my friends and I were essentially scared of him 25+ yrs ago.

    • @edradil3438
      @edradil3438 5 років тому +3

      Joost D. He hated Ray and youth of today. We saw Ray with Shelter in Boston once and Choke was stopping kids walking to the club (Bunrattys) and telling them not to see these “pathetic fucking idiots”. He could get violent at shows. Mostly to younger smaller guys getting into bands from out of state. Wouldn’t do it alone. Had his crew to back him. Bit of a cheap shot artist. I’d say choke was your classic bully.
