I so understand the exhaustion. I also teach second grade and it has been SO HARD. they’re so needy, not independent, and I feel like I’m teaching September skills and routines still in March. They don’t remember how to be in school or make good choices. It’s so tough!! I’m feeling the burn out. You are so inspiring, and have some fabulous ideas! Thanks for posting these videos!
This is me! I work with special needs second graders! I have an inclusion classroom and two paras! it's very tiresome!
I teach high school 10th graders, and the feeling of exhaustion is overwhelming.
Second graders were in Kindergarten when the pandemic started, so they haven't had a full day/week routine in 2 yrs, and never had a full school year EVER, compared to all grades above them. If schools continue to do remote learning and different cohort schedules, many more kids will be unfamiliar to the routine of going to school '5 days a week, for 6.5 hrs a day'.

My kiddos absolutely adore Happy Numbers!!! I love that it is meeting my kids where they are at to help them fill gaps from the last two years. I teach 3rd grade this year and when my kiddos came into my room this year, all but 4 kiddos came in at a 1st Grade level. They are all now 2nd Grade and higher because of this program and small group instruction. I can't say enough about Happy Numbers either. I am going to keep using this program as long as possible with my kiddos.

Teacher tip: I have an alexa ( the echo 8) and it the best thing ever my kids love it we have her tell us joke, play music, and tell us the weather! She can even present your morning slides! Of course its really small so i wouldn't do it every day but for something fun you can use it! You can also make it into a class job like clean off alexa or set up alexa or even ask alexa!

The exhaustion is real! I teach middle school. It is not better in middle school. Their ability to focus is so tiny. It's like we went back 4-5 YEARS worth of skills for so many of them. It's crazy. I am really curious to see how next year goes because I think this year was just destined to be really hard because it was just thrown back on us that we would be "back to normal" no matter what. It has been anything but normal.

This was me in February after having Covid in January! No lesson planning at all but, my students learned about different historical black figures that they were never introduced too! That’s all I had the strength for! But now I’m back I’ve planned for all of March and some of April!
Oh my gosh! Lucky you…you can come in in Monday with an empty plan book! Lol…we have to have our done online by Sunday evening.

Yes! I can relate! We have so much to do, it is hard trying to fit and balance everything in the schedule.
It's hard for people out of education to understand the different ways schools are run for each state. Like where you begin around 8:55, in my state most schools begin around 7:30 - 7:45. In my school, teachers have to sign in by 7:10 and students begin coming in from 7:15 - 7:45 and my 1st period begins at 7:50. The differences are crazy.
As a student teacher, I feel the same way about my planner lol. I just take it day by day 😂

Great video! Thank you! It seems like you have very good time management to get work done,(report cards, conferences, planning, prep) and still leave work on time (or within a reasonable time). I am always at work late...I'm not sure if I'm a perfectionist, or poor time management...probably the latter. My class is beautiful, but im there WAY after the late bell. A video of tips would be great!

I definitely agree with students attention spans trying to do whole group writing even for ten minutes has been nearly impossible lately. Definitely need to change the structure to save my sanity! Lol

Ours is almost like 7:50 to 3:35. We always have to stay until every child is gone (at least 3:45). This difference here is crazy! 🙀
