Still my favorite movie, I was lucky in that I was taken by my dad to see it in theatres back when it came out. It was like a perfect combo, with the soundtrack, director, editors, and actor's like Russel Crowe was perfect for the part. It was the only movie that made me cry as a kid out of emotion in theatre, and if you give it like 4 years between watches, definitely worth a rewatch.
In my opinion, it's one of the few movies you can watch after almost 25 years without feeling that it is old. Or that it might be done differently today. This movie just doesn't look like it was made a quarter of a century ago. In my opinion, none of this has come out of fashion ( 😂 ok, we don't wear Roman sandals) But what I mean is that the costumes still look cool, and not old-fashioned (for costume conditions) the music hasn't become old-fashioned. I can still see the movie today and none of it seems like the movie is old.
Of course Russell Crow deserved the Oscar ! To play such a faceted, larger than life person as Maximus and be absolutely believable requires a top actor ! 👍
Congratulations to Russell Crowe he truely deserved The Oscor.Russell Act so beautifully from Slavery to Gladiator from the start to finish in Gladiator. The Sound Track when the opening of the Movie Russell Crowe as Maximus walking through the dry wheat amazing start of the film. The Uniform looked great on him as he looked the shorter from them all.Russell gave all he had and he proved us Right. No other couldn't of done better as Russell Crowe done in Gladiator. After 23yrs people still enjoy the Movie of Gladiator. I have been proud of Russell Crowe watched him he was just 12yr old acting in The Doctors.I said this boy he will be A Movie Star One day.I kept continue watching Russell Crowe Movies and Russell Crowe grew to A Beautiful Man.Hero -Talented and Good Hearted Man.Love him dearly.Well Done Russell Crowe. Love You! MaryNancy Caruana
Eu quero ver máximus Russell crowe em outro filme épico como foi gradiador a presença Russell crowe a emoção que ele passa o choro que faz você chora junto a música a história e tudo magnífico e a interpretação de Russell crowe brilhante espetacular
Tho this film is considered his iconic role, I much preferred his performance in The Insider. But I’m prob in the minority on that… Thanks for the video, well done.
Eu amo essa filme Maximus e um general e um gradiador emocionante espetacular pode até imitar mais igual máximus somente ele Russell crowe espetacular magnífico brilhante máximus
One of My all time favorites.. And to hear tell, of so much I’ve never known about it.. Makes me Appreciate Him more. I will admit one part I have to FF is him going home and wife, child died..and what was said to him.. And Joaquin Phoenix Did a Spectacular Job.. I so disliked his character. And that is just what he had to show.. Now I’m about to watch this in a few minutes again..But with Fresh knowledge of what All was done to make this Movie.. 👏👏👏🙏🤟🕊
Yes he deserved the Oscar. Gladiator is a classic Mel Gibson was first choice but he felt he was too old for the role. Russell Crowe won the lottery !!! Leave it alone - I am uncomfortable that they are making Gladiator 2 😡
Maybe Ridley Scott thought that the first part without a script led to success, and wanted to repeat that with Part 2?! That would explain why the film was such an epic fail.... Paul Mescal couldn't deliver that.
I think Russell Crowe's physique fit the role perfectly. The physique of Paul Mescal is simply too much, too defined. Which gym should Lucius have visited in Africa? Who was his personal trainer? Who created his training and his meal plan, and who cooked that for him? I mean, what would a man have done to train back then? I can imagine he would have dragged tree trunks, carried water buckets and stuff like that. Paul Mescal looks like he spends 3 hours every day with his personal trainer at the gym in Gladiator 2. He looks like a trainer will train with him on the most modern equipment, including protein shakes and everything available to the modern man in 2024. But how realistic is it that Lucius had all this at his disposal?? Not very realistic. I think Russell Crowe looked more like a Roman who does a lot to stay fit and otherwise just works physically. My brother-in-law was a mason, who was also quite strong. I can imagine that a Roman who does like Maximus in film, mainly physical work on the battlefield and on his farm, would have looked more like Maximus.
100%
One of my favourite movies of all time!
He deserved ten oscars for that role one of the best films ever made

I didn't know the script had so little dialogue. That in mind is Russell Crowe's performance even better, and he definitely deserves the Oscar!

Russell Crowe should have won 3 Oscars in a row.
We are entertained for sure.
Russell Crowe is great
RC was amazing sad to hear he is not in the next movie coming in 24/25.
Best video I have ever seen! The way you edit this is perfection.
Can you do one of The Big Lebowski and also Christian Bale in American Psycho?
We’re actually doing Christian Bale in the Machinist in like two videos. Stay tuned 🤫 Also, thank you for the support it truly means a lot 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I wonder what did Mr Crowe want Maximus to say?
SPARTUCUS R.I.P KIRK DOUGLES ONE OF THE GREATEST ACTORS OF HOLLYWOOD THAT WAS THE GOLDEN AGE OF HOLLYWOOD.
True, but Gladiator is Just as Good !

Yes I do ❤
I wouldnt say Russell got into the shape Gerard Butler did for 300. But atleast he was fit looking.
He was getting into shape to look like a farmer/soldier/general would look.
He needs to repeat his performance of diet and exercise. Marlon Brando 2.0
Russel Crow , Gerrard Butler movie and also directed by Mel Gibson also to include himself in the acting as barbaros, and Gladiators
That would be epic.
Great!
That be a cool movie😊

Idk why they would even try to make Gladiator 2
I agree, Classics like Gladiator, or Blade Runner, should not have been made into lesser copies! 😠
There´s no "The" in the title, it´s just Gladiator.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Are you fucking kidding me? How much does it pay?
What do you mean?
@@unpeeled_ he's an actor. How much money did they pay him to wrestle a tiger?
Hahhaha I get it now. Probably not enough, that's for sure 😅
@@unpeeled_ at least he wasn't a scapegoat prisoner of the state in Rome for real.
hahahah
He is so much hotter and manly in unhinged. I don't like the pretty boy in shape look.
