    I bought one a few months ago not even thinking much about the fact that it was suede.
    Then I soon realized why guys wear gloves while using them.
    Mine is already wearing down, so I will definitely be trying this, thanks Shaun.

    My nephew bought a used Thrustmaster T500RS wheel with a Ferrari rim, it looked very similar to yours after a good amount of years of use, I used vanish carpet cleaner with a microfiber cloth and a semi-hard toothbrush and a softer toothbrush and some water it worked really well, the Vanish does not matten down the Alcantara like the product you used did, it looked close to new after the cleaning, I'm sure if we did some more runs on it, we could have gotten it even nicer.

    Great video! In my car I use a brush and a vacuume on my regular cleanings and only the cheaning foam if it got excessively dirty due to grease or dirt from my hands getting on the wheel.

    I use BMW Alcantara cleaner on my Fanatec Alcantara rims, together with a toothbrush and a microfiber cloth.
    Works a treat and no damage to the Alcantara as all the color comes back and the hairs are raised by the tooth brush as you work the material jn.

    The cleaner lifts up the dye a little. Thats why you were seeing black on the rags.. Its why just the brush looks better, Its not removing the dye.

    With a alcantara rim i use a cotton towel and some water (not too hot or too cold) and just rub it.

    I have a momo leather (no gloves) and use a baby wipe after each race session to clean off the funky sweat dirt etc and wheel is ready to go next time I jump in, might work with suede?

      @Jason S how on earth would that work, Alcantara is suede leather is going to wipe easy you could wipe leather with a wet rag lol

    i dont want to wear gloves when i sim race, but i also want a 330mm wheel, i also want the center strip, i also want the deep dish, and i also want it light so its easier on the wheel base, better ffb, faster spinning wheel for drifting etc. but i also want it as cheap as possible. so far my only option is suede. i have spent hours and hours, days and days searching aliexpress and ebay. the only cheap wheel that matches this criteria is suede. i would much prefer standard leather. but eh. i guess the other stuff is more important to me. i guess i will just have to try and wear gloves occasionally, or clean the wheel from time to time.

    I have always worn gloves when using mine and it also looks like this. I've used it for maybe a couple hundred hours.

    Most of the color you get on the wipes is simple black paint. If it was really dirt you'd get brown wipes.

    I tried gloves, but had trouble locating my buttons with my thumbs. Since I run VR, I have to rely on feel 100%.

    • @tokkelcs
      @tokkelcs 3 роки тому

      really ?? i have no trouble finding any button in vr ,even on the button box .

    • @voodoo7008
      @voodoo7008 3 роки тому

      @@tokkelcs I lost sensitivity, or feel of the buttons, since they are clustered. I only have four programmed buttons. The PlayStation toggle is look left and right, to which I only use pulling onto Lernerville, and Weedsport. Even though I have VR, I use look left. It helps. Running short track dirt, that tear away button can be difficult to find. The car is hardly ever going in a straight line. Shit happens fast.

    Coming from motorsports it's about the grip you get from the surface of the wheel and the gloves, nothing to do with how it feels.

      Just watched this and said the same thing to myself! It’s why suede seats are often used in racing, to keep you from sliding around.

      Yep. I think its funny how something that came to be as purely functional (suede/alcantara grips on racing gloves better than any material) became a “luxury” item.
