If not for poor coaching and player management, Columbus can be a top team in metro. Tons of young talent just not used. Tarasov seems to finally becoming what they hoped for on draft day
but they have Johnny Hockey :) They should be in the finals each year :)
CLB definitely has the talent on the ice. They are a decent collection of players but they aren't a team. Having a fully aligned front office would be a huge boost to more Wins

For anyone doubting the Avs, keep in mind Nichushkin is currently borderline able to play but they are playing it safe with him. When he plays, they win.
As of Feb 12 of this year, since 2020-2021, the Avs were 109-31-15 with Val in the lineup. Per the Denver Post, the Avs are a 122-point team when he plays. 🤷♂️
All true, but all these injuries are proving tough to overcome. Francouz done, Gabe still out, LOC done, Makar hobbled. And then Trenin scratched, Kovalenko still rehabbing. Getting up for a meaningless regular season game was too hard for them. The original Avs would do the same thing, so I'm not too worried. All the top players have their contracts, so this season is about getting a Cup. Beating the BJs in March doesn't win them a Cup. Let's get the playoffs started already!

I can't even blame the Avalanche on this one. Idk why these bottom teams goalies decide to have the best game of their career against the Avalanche. First Blackwood on the Sharks with 51/52 saves, then Mrazek with 35/37 saves on the Blackhawks, and now Tarasov with 46/47 saves. Absolutely mind-blowing, these goalies must recognize how horrible the Avs goalies are and want to play a sick joke on them lmao
Annunen and Georgiev aren't even that bad. They're not an amazing tandem but the Avs can absolutely go far with them. Look what they did with Kuemper (the worst goalie performance for a cup champion over the last 15 years) in 2022. They just need to figure out how to hit the broadside of a barn.
@rmst2022 Annunen is solid, Georgiev is inconsistent. The Avs have proven they can beat anyone if they want, but games like this just show how bad luck and a team who has nothing to play for can really screw a team over and lower morale
No seriously, even the Avs announcers noticed that too. Bad goalies play like gods when they face the Avs, but I’m willing to bet the guy lets in 3-4 next game

@@abliteration1868 that is purely Georgiev's drawback. He earned the starting role, but he is consistently playing as a backup or a No. 2. Same boat where Merzlikins has been. Tarasov and Greaves are the future for the Jackets. Not sure where Georgiev lies.
Tarasov is the proof that in ice hockey great goaltending can make a table bottom team win against a far stronger one.

Blue Jackets are where they're supposed to be. Sure, they can be good when everything works as it's supposed to, but otherwise basically nothing works as it's supposed to.

The first period Avs are just garbage. Coach has to get them into gear going into games. They needed this game and to me the 2nd and 3rd period were just unlucky. So many shots on goal and nothing. It happens and CBJ goalie has a dream game.

Not really. They played hard, put almost 50 shots on goal, and hit several pipes. Columbus played hard, too, and got enough puck luck plus a few nice plays in key situations to win. 🤷♂️
This was definitely an off game for the Avs, they had these kind of games at the end of the season when they won the cup too, losing against bad teams. They’re already in the playoffs and as always, a bottom feeder goalie plays a career game against them. Rest up and get ready for the back to back, go Avs!

Avs deserved the win but they were robbed! Tarasov, from an Avs fan, was stellar...
The way we played? Sloppy passes, couldn't sustain any offensive zone pressure, just threw pucks at the net with no one there to get rebounds. Bad defense. Avs didn't deserve to win
on paper yes but we all know games aren't played on paper, they're played on flat screen Television sets.
