    I utterly appreciate the skill and the detective work in making this, even though the cut itself does not do very much for me personally. A great success.

    World class gem cutting, Cliff!
    The free hand work on the girdle must have been nerve wracking.

      Thanks Joe. I was concerned more about chipping as Spinel chips easily.

    Great to see you introducing your video Cliff, with the lovely flowers. This one took some figuring out and detective work from jaws. It was well worth it and looks amazing. Thank you for sharing

    WOW!!! Your best video ever, Cliff.
    The "detective work" regarding the girdle grabbed my attention, and I found myself holding my breath when you were "free-handing" the final continuous girdle. My eyes were riveted to your technique.
    Thanks so much for sharing this staggering video.

      Thanks John. Free styling the girdle is just another step in my journey as a gem cutter. This design is so well thought out. USA gem designers are are so creative. Cutting this gem is an absolute master class. Regards Cliff

    Congratulations on finally cutting the Pharaoh's Eye! I can't even imagine how gorgeus it would be in person, with how it looks in the video. By the way thanks for taking my suggestion, which was to show gemstones outdoors again.

    Gem cutting is awesome to watch and I love it . Your my favourite channel 😍. I watched a utube movie “ how this guy clones famous diamonds “. And was blown away how far you could get into gem cutting. Will you ever do some famous gem cloning on any future videos? Please. And this video is more in that flavour of famous imperfect gems that look stunning.

      Thanks Chris. I need to facet the NQR round as promised.

  • @TonysGemDesignswithGCS

    So it's a step cut. A top down step cut. The clues are there in the text. We were looking from the wrong direction. I don't really go for eye's but I am tempted to try and do a 96 version. And there must be a better way of cutting that girdle. Will think about it. Great detection work Jaws!

    • @TonysGemDesignswithGCS
      @TonysGemDesignswithGCS 3 роки тому

      There is a better way than freehanding the girdle, I think. Will have to have a chat one day (week after next), keywords are "natural facet stop". But you will to check on the stone. Well done!

    • @VintageTimeGems
      @VintageTimeGems  3 роки тому

      A step cut with a twist. Not an easy design to get right. Pleased with the result. 96 version would be easier, but the criteria was a 64 index. Free styling the girdle is just another step in my faceting journey. Shame that the pan is not removable though. On in the NQR. Not sure what material to facet it in. Topaz would be good. Cheers

    • @TonysGemDesignswithGCS

      @@VintageTimeGems Topaz will work, but spinel and higher would be better.

  • @richnesto3518
    @richnesto3518 3 роки тому +2

    That is stunning!! But why can it only be spinnael?

    • @VintageTimeGems
      @VintageTimeGems  3 роки тому +2

      It could be another high refractive gem, but the criteria of the design mentioned spinel. Also, spinel has a great color range.

  • @pauldodge1071

    That was great, it is way beyond me, but you have convinced me to have a crack, I am probably going to make things up as I go, but like you, I like the problem solving and sometimes I will go a different way and get a totally different effect, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but that is the fun of it. As I am probably going to muck it up, I didn't note the refractory index, could I use something cheap like nanosital? looking forward to the next one.

    • @VintageTimeGems
      @VintageTimeGems  3 роки тому

      Hi Paul. Thanks. Use a cheap gem first. Eye designs need practice.
