First of, I love your videos! You two are the highlight of my Sunday mornings, along with breakfast in bed with my husband and kids. Sunday mornings because I'm in Chile, South America. Finally!!!! someone addressed the 'musky ' perfumes nonsense!! I've come to realize that when someone says 'musky' they refer to wide assortment of perfumes that range from woodsy to spicy. Or as opposed to fruity or sweet or fresh. As a perfume amateur it frustrates me to watch reviews in UA-cam or read them in sites like Fragrantica and have the reviewer describe the fragrance as musky because that says nothing to me. So, thank you for addressing it!!!!! And keep up the good work, I'll be waiting for Sunday mornings to watch your thoughtful, fun and really informative videos. Pamela

Often when we are selling perfume to a client, if they say they do or don't want something musky we have to dig much deeper to be sure we know what exactly they mean by this word! Musk is so popular and so versatile, and it's actually in so many fragrances (well over 11,000) that pretty much the majority of scents might be deemed "musky" in some form or other! 😂
Narcisso Rodriguez for her pure musc and the hole for her range, is just amazing and for me, the best musc in the designer fragrance world! For her EdP, sexy, gorgeous and the most complimented one of my for her fragrances by Narcisso, but Pure Musc is sooo versatile, great for wearing alone, and the greatest thing about it, you can layer it with probably almost every fragrance out there, giving every fragrance such a beautyfull uplifting touch, and it lasts for good 8 to 10h noticeably, good projection and silage, but never overwarming, great also for office and also as a signature usable, if you like muscy scents!
+BobzGP there are so many different types of musk scent on the market. We should have done Serge Lutens Clair de Musc as that is a beautiful almost transparent one. We like Chergui too... not so musk based but lots of dry iris notes, incense and warm tobacco. Did you know its name comes from an easterly wind in the Moroccan desert (Serge Luten's home) and the scent conjures up that idea of the hot summer wind disturbing all the dry scents of a hot landscape
Love your videos! I use Le Panthere as well as Narciso Rodriguez. I do get a lot of compliments when I wear especially Le Panthere. That one is good for layering. I layer it with Alien Eau Extraordinaire.
+Clarissa Martinez thanks! 👍 we find that both Narciso and La Panthere get you noticed! We like the layering recommendation, Alien Eau Extraordinaire probably works well because of the Tiare Flower in it, which is a cousin of the gardenia flower used in the Cartier scent.

Musk is not there in my perfume at all but I found my uncle using Alyssa Ashley Musk for men and it made me put musk into perspective in relation to my taste and personality. However, I found much critique making fun of that perfume in particular and I wonder what you think about it. Also, as I like the Alyssa Musk for men, what other perfumes or brands should I consider? By the way, I am Egyptian and it cheered me that you brought to my attention the Narciso Rodriguez perfume. Thanks a lot!
Great video, all of those are gorgeous fragances, but none really musky, not the way musky fragances use to be. The true, remarkable, pure, bold, sensual and long lasting musk I was introduced back on early 90's and fell in love with, but was a little too young to wear. "Musky" scents nowadays are a mixture of a variety of notes in what, sometimes, is possible to detect many of them, except for the musk itself, what, not rare, is part of the base and nearly undetectable... I wish some fragance powerhouse brought back the original pure musk!
I'd love to see a video about Guerlain perfumes - perhaps the Aqua Allegoria line or the older more obscure or different perfumes from this house - and maybe the Chamade, Jicky type or Santal Royal
Ah Guerlain is a great brand with some lovely heritage. Unfortunately because we work for a distributor we can only include fragrances we work directly with in our videos. Sadly Guerlain is not one of those brands 😟

+Jenny Marx yes - it's been really fashionable of recent years, for perfumes to tend towards the fruit floriental or the patisserie gourmand type fragrance family. ....but musk never really goes out of fashion and we love how it works in all manor of ways in a scent, from soft and enveloping to downright sensual!
Oh I love musk and I'm looking for a nice musk perfume. I know this is really old but I really used to love wild musk by coty (and I'm not that old actually hehe) but I truly love it. Have you tried Kiehls Original Musk? They have an oil and a spray edp or edt...I love Kiehls Original Musk better than any other. It's literally what I where every day. There was also a musk I remember being called Skin musk?? I can't remember who it was by...but I remember the green letters of the word Skin...it was said to be quite nice.

+ehlesdee your point is interesting because there are many people who are unable to smell musk. It's rather a large scent molecule and sometimes difficult for the nose to detect!
The Perfume Pros Yeah, it's so weird. I should try smelling pure musk once to see if I just don't recognize the scent yet. Hopefully I can smell it, otherwise I'm probably gassing everyone out with skank bombs that I think smell like candy xD
I think most people have never smelled pure musk so they don't have anything to base their smells off of. Personally i never know that the perfume im smelling has musk in it because im not sure what its suppose to smell like.
I wore La Panthere to work recently. It smells light to me, but my coworker said it was a bit too heavy. I wonder if I'm anosmic to the musc in it? Some muscs I do smell.

Musk can indeed have a lot of "faces", at first I didn't like white musk until I've smelled some good quality white musk attar from tradicional middle-eastern market, very natural and clean powder, very relaxing too. But my favorite is indeed the more true do it's nature musk, La Panthere is to me one of the sexiest perfumes I've ever smelled, almost animalic in a good way, but the fruity notes soft it up a bit which give it a very sexy appeal
+Samuel Gustav we agree: La Panthers is inspired in the fact that it does have softer white musk alongside the perfumer's synthesised animal musk note. Alongside creamy gardenia flower, the effect is hugely alluring and arrestingly sexy!
Very nice video again, Cartier used to have Panther perfume, I don't see it anymore has it been discontinued? I remember it was so gorgeous, I don't know if I'm remembering correctly. I have Narciso Rodrigues, I find I don't reach for it much.
+Fay Moussabeck you're absolutely right- Cartier used to do a scent called "Panthere de Cartier" (launched in the late eighties and very much of that era: powerful white florals and sweet woody Amber base notes.) Sadly now long discontinued. Cartier's in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent was inspired by the company's link to and love of the feisty and sensual panther spirit and so gave us "La Panthere" which is the one we talk about in the video.

I love buying vintage perfume, and if a fragrance is kept in good conditions and not exposed to sunlight, it can last decades. Dacob did a video of him Opening a 60 year old bottle of Chanel no.5, and it was perfect.
Mmmmmm musk. Great video, Ladies. I have the NR EdP in the pink bottle. Have you tried Kiehl's Original Musk? It's lovely layered with the body lotion. Like a soft, comfy blanket.
+Paige Hales-Gordo the NR for her Eau de Parfum is a bit fruitier and smells lighter we think than the EDT (it's normally the other way round in a perfume portfolio!). Thanks for the Kiehl's recommendation - we will go and have a sniff!
Musk can be extremely long lasting. Nowadays perfumers use synthetic musk for ethical reasons to protect the musk deer. There are some lovely and varied musk perfumes out there. We both like Narciso scents for their soft and sensual musky quality and Cartier’s La Panthere is a glamorous and provocative mix of gardenia and musk which lasts for ages on the skin.

Musk certainly is a sensual ingredient- used for centuries to help in the game of seduction!

+Cleopatra Kampiire to be honest we both subscribe to the view that with fragrance there are no rules as to when you wear them: if you like the way something smells on you then we say where it whenever you feel like it! It's just that often, we like to reach for different styles of perfume depending on how we are feeling; and the seasons play a part in creating those emotions and therefore sometimes the weather dictates our fragrance choice! If you're in the mood to wear something like Pleasures or J'adore seek out other fresh green florals; but if you're in the mood for something more sensual like La Panthere and NR for her, look for other chypre type scents. For something more arresting like Kenzo's amazing Jungle (sadly unavailable in the uk now) look for spicy warm orientals.

In terms of musk; originally it came from a type of dear but nowadays you are not allowed to use natural musk in a perfume because they understandably want to protect the Musk Deer. Instead perfumers recreate it from molecules in their lab; that’s why you can get various different smells of this ingredient in modern perfume; from powdery soft white musks which smell clean and comforting; to animalic smelling creations which are sensual and deep.
I've worn musk since I was in my early teens: Jovan, Skin, Coty, Alyssa Ashley, Egyptian, Nubian, African, and whatever else I could find. About 10 years ago, I discovered Kiehl's Original Musk - it became my signature fragrance. Always on the hunt for a new find, I recently discovered Kilian Musk Oud. I absolutely love layering this with my Kiehl's. It also made me search for other Oud fragrances, which I now also love. I purchased Narciso's fragrance, but it didn't work with my body chemistry. I would really like to try La Panthere and the other musk you mentioned which sounds like it would be a good one for summer. I did also get the House of Ajmal's Misc C. It's quite different from the ones I've worn and has taken me some tie to get used to. Glad I happened upon this channel and discussion. Subscribing today.

I'm curious about what the difference between regular musk and white musk is.
I don't think I can smell musk that well. Fragrances like Musc Ravageur and Muscs Koublai Khan just smell warm and incredible to me!

Musk can be extremely long lasting. Nowadays perfumers use synthetic musk for ethical reasons to protect the musk deer. There are some lovely and varied musk perfumes out there. We both like Narciso scents for their soft and sensual musky quality and Cartier’s La Panthere is a glamorous and provocative mix of gardenia and musk which lasts for ages on the skin.

Happen to have a tester of La Pantere, but never used it. Just tried it and how gorgeous! Are you familiar with Musc by Bruno Acampora? Wondering how realistic that musk is compared to the real thing.
+Allistar Anglophelia it's not one we are familiar with, but just googled it and Katie Puckrik's review came up which made us chuckle with her description of it "the smell of slept in sheets and lost weekends!!" Musk certainly is a sensual ingredient- used for centuries to help in the game of seduction!
Try oils from Russian adam they embibe the soul of animalic musc, one of the most beautifully captivated parfum in my opinion.

I have a question! could u please kindly recommend spring/smmer perfumes and autumn/winter ones too? my tastes are pleasures Estee Lauder, narcisso Rodriguez, la pantiere, j'adore, kenzo jungle but I never knew that they were seasonal perfumes!! and I also love chocolate/cocoa smells, some sweet but not too sweet ...so really, I need recommendations that are not too expensive ...Thank u so much for ur videos and your help
+Cleopatra Kampiire to be honest we both subscribe to the view that with fragrance there are no rules as to when you wear them: if you like the way something smells on you then we say where it whenever you feel like it! It's just that often, we like to reach for different styles of perfume depending on how we are feeling; and the seasons play a part in creating those emotions and therefore sometimes the weather dictates our fragrance choice! If you're in the mood to wear something like Pleasures or J'adore seek out other fresh green florals; but if you're in the mood for something more sensual like La Panthere and NR for her, look for other chypre type scents. For something more arresting like Kenzo's amazing Jungle (sadly unavailable in the uk now) look for spicy warm orientals.

ah sad to hear i just want to know more about the musk perfume what is the ingredient to make it i want to make one i cant hear clearly if i can suggest you should give a picture in your video so many people will know what the ingredient are but overall you explain it so good but need more visualization
Hi again. Thanks for the suggestion of the picture. We will bear that in mind. In terms of musk; originally it came from a type of dear but nowadays you are not allowed to use natural musk in a perfume because they understandably want to protect the Musk Deer. Instead perfumers recreate it from molecules in their lab; that’s why you can get various different smells of this ingredient in modern perfume; from powdery soft white musks which smell clean and comforting; to animalic smelling creations which are sensual and deep.

I've worn musk since I was in my early teens: Jovan, Skin, Coty, Alyssa Ashley, Egyptian, Nubian, African, and whatever else I could find. About 10 years ago, I discovered Kiehl's Original Musk - it became my signature fragrance. Always on the hunt for a new find, I recently discovered Kilian Musk Oud. I absolutely love layering this with my Kiehl's. It also made me search for other Oud fragrances, which I now also love. I purchased Narciso's fragrance, but it didn't work with my body chemistry. I would really like to try La Panthere and the other musk you mentioned which sounds like it would be a good one for summer. I did also get the House of Ajmal's Misc C. It's quite different from the ones I've worn and has taken me some tie to get used to. Glad I happened upon this channel and discussion. Subscribing today.
