- Another day another game comes to be judged thusly before the Royal Court. Farlands is a Stardew Valley clone (kinda)....but in space! So is this sci-fi farming sim game worth our precious time and coin? Well let's find out together!

I think some people are mad that the game is at such an Early State, but the fact that all the updates are for free and are confirmed to come along is good enough for me
By the way, i recommend looking at the Roadmap of updates, they will be adding plenty of the things you mentioned
Don't get me wrong, I used to have that same feeling for every early access game. But I learned not to put too much stock in developers promises. It's made me a little cynical lmao. That's why I judge developers based on the game. If it's a solid game with serious develoment, time nad love put into it then there's a good chance they'll keep their promises :)
The developer of the game is a spanish youtuber who already has a few tabletop games about farming and other things, this is his latest project and it's all documented on his youtube channel with everything he and the team have done and what is next for the game (I believe he tried to translate all those dev logs to english but it didn't work out because too many people from spanish speaking countries found that channel and it was not the target audience), and as far as I know it's also on the steam page. I'm completely biased in this opinion since I'm a long time fan of his work, but I believe the game is going to improve a lot in the time to come and I heavily encourage you to try it again once it gets new updates.

ok, it's a good thing to point out, since the only place it is noted about what to do or where to go is on the Discord server of the game, in which clarifies somethings like the season and weather that is next to the hour and the seeds' bag must match the color.
It has sense, but you can't notice it until someone tells you outside from the game, which is still a bit of a bad design.
It would be cool if they put you in a quick UI tutorial like telling you that thing about the seasons, that you may pass out past 2:00 am or to tell you the season has 28 days
Yeah exactly. Stardew Valley had something like that. And maybe eventually they'll add something like that in. But until it's there I can't see myself returning. I need to know more specifics about the UI and the seasons and stuff. Btw thanks for the comment :)
Good and fair overview. I might not buy it in it’s current state but I’m definitely going to keep an eye on the progress. Like you said, it has potential for sure.

I'm checking out Farlands. I think it has potential, not necessarily to be a Stardew Valley-killer, but as a cute tribute to farming games, now in space.
Great! It's got a really solid base and I never meant it to mean stardew valley killer. more of a companion. For me when I'm done playing stardew valley I always wanna play something similar. This would be a great alternative :D
The dessigner of this game claims that he is never going to beat stardew valley, he even thinks probably nobody, ever, is going to beat stardew valley. He just wants to make a stardew valley companion, and I think is the right choice.
I'm glad you had find the price fair, they really have worked hard on choosing the best price for every market.
I hope Eric fans are not to bothersome, maybe is not one of the biggest Spanish speaking youtubers, but for sure he is one of the most beloved, and after watching every step on the way to make a videogame, now, everyone feels it like his baby, even if we had nothing to do with it.

I really can't speak for the developers, but it makes me happy seeing people talk about this game for an audience that doesn't speak spanish because that's pretty much what Eric (the main designer for the game) wanted all along and i hope even more non-hispanic people could pay attention to this game and make their honest reviews about it.

I really liked your review. I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy the game because it's in early access and your review helped me to clear my mind. The game has great potential but I think I'll wait a few more updates before buying, I think it will be more enjoyable then and I want to have a good first impression.
I hope the developers find your video, it has great suggestions (like changing the color scheme of the initial planet, I don't really like the colour palette too) and it will be nice if theh take them into account.

Hi, new viewer here. I must say I clicked the video 'cause I like the team who created the game and it is nice how you critique the game with lots of fair critiques but you also point out their strengths, and that balanced opinion is a rare sight in this platform nowadays.
I wonder if the creators will incorporate some of your ideas into the game. They said they want to listen to every input during the early access
Well I mean...if someone has even better ideas then mine then I hope they use those lol. But if mine happen to be the best then I hope they use em. I just want them to make a great game. And thank you very much for your comment. I always try to be as honest and as back and forth as I can be so I can be fair to the devs and the fans.
Colors are atrocious, that's enough of a dealbreaker for me (even stardew valley colors are atrocious)

I don't like story mode. I prefer to play how I want no story mode
I can definitely understand that. But to be fair, there's not really much story in games like this lol
