I tried this foundation several years ago and hated it. At that time, "Simply Ageless" claimed to "float over wrinkles and fine lines". It actually did the opposite and sank into every line, wrinkle and pore, emphasizing rather than blurring. I called it Simply Aging, it was so bad. 🙄 This makeup has a cult following but I have no idea what skin type is able to wear it without it migrating. And like you said, the shade range is terrible. The finish made me look 20 years older...UGH.
I believe the age defying claim in this makeup is the addition of Olay skin care for marketing it as a two in one moisturizer and makeup product, not necessarily to mask wrinkles. I agree with your rating, seems to migrate into lines and not set well without powder imo.
When I tried this I had a similar experience. When I saw “balm” I figured it would be dewy and hydrating, so I was let down. I never tried it again on my dry, maturing skin. Nice to see you Shelly!💜
I had the exact same experience as you on my 57 yr old dry skin. I now carry it in my purse makeup bag for those times my foundation wears off and my redness pokes through. I'll tap it very lightly on my chin or nose just to even things out a bit. It was pretty disappointing for me, too 😕
I’ve been using this since 2016 and I love it. I use it with their concealer and pressed powder. I can definitely see the difference in my pictures. So smooth. The SPF is excellent! I’m 44 and looking young with the products! ❤
I’m in my mid thirties and have had this foundation for a year or so. I agree that it accentuates dry skin and sits on top of skin a bit. I compare it to the Loreal Age Perfect Tinted Balm (since they’re both balm-type formulas) and this one is much more matte and dry, whereas the Loreal Balm has a much much more hydrating, silicone-ish slippery feel and dewy finish with much less coverage as well. Soooo - there nothing alike.😁 On a different note, I compliment you on the cheerful, upbeat and positive energy you radiate! You seem like you embrace your good qualities as well as flaws! I don’t get a sense that you’re concerned with falsifying a terrible “must appear perfect” image (in looks, life, mindset, etc.), which nearly all beauty content creators strive so intensely to create. Your personality and vibe reads genuine, laid back and self-confident, and those qualities make your videos quite relaxing and easy to watch. Your content ultimately leaves me feeling much calmer while also (after having taken in your vibes and the example you set) seem to give me a bit of a self-confidence boost! Plus, the idea of relaxing on a back porch surrounded by the beauty of nature, while watching the wildlife alongside your kitties: it’s an awesome scene to imagine myself in. 😃 Thanks for your content and for embracing who you are. I’m sure others out there feel the same was as I do!
I have both also, and I like them both but for different applications. I have oily skin, so the cover girl being matte works great for me. I'm also only 39 and don't really have wrinkles other than some crows feet so I don't worry about it settling.
Thank you, Mandy! Something magical happened in my 40s when I realized I am who I am and I'm not here on this earth to please everyone. It's so much easier to go through life just being me. I only wish I'd believed that sooner!
I used to wear this foundation ages ago, when I was young, beautiful, and I had dreams 😂 I can't even remember whether I liked it or not, but now my with my mature, textured, dry skin, I lean towards more hydrating, glowy finish type of foundations, so this is a pass for me 🙅♀️ thnx for the review though... hugzzz 💜
I know you did review this a long time ago Shelly. It never hurts to re-review this product though. Thanks so much; I love Covergirl. I suspect there has been a change in the label layout. 💕
Thank you for the honest review and for the readers' comments. Although I am impressed by the CoverGirl olay balm, I think I'll go with the Loreal balm foundation. I'm 52 and in need of a new kind of foundation.
Yeah, I’m on my 4th set. It’s the only one I get compliments from but when first applied my skin looks really white but once settled, it’s perfection. I have normal /combination skin and the less you use, it’s more flattering. I’m nc25 and I choose the darkest shade #23.
You seem quite fair and pale by your profile picture! What shade did you get & what other shades of brands do you wear that match you well? I find tarte foundcealer in Porcelain beige is my best match( I love how natural on my skin it looks & dewy if I don't set it) but it does have a slight peachy tone, just barely. I can see against my hairline when im blending it. I am pale/fair muted cool leaning olive. It's been the struggle of my life lol to find shade matches before beauty youtube & trying to find people this fair that aren't self/fake tanned. I am trying to embrace my translucent fair skin & it's hard to not want that little bit of healthy glow that comes from self tanner!
When I'm doing the color match/shade finder apps I usually put in Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place in 1C1 Cool Bone or MAC NW15. I am neutral leaning slightly cool (especially in the winter) but the absolute best matches for me have that sort of gray undertone - like the old CYO Lifeproof in 101 (discontinued) or Missha Perfect Cover BB cream in 21. It's a very hard to find undertone so I usually go with something fair neutral or fair cool. I'm not the fairest of the fair but in brands that have multiple shades in the fair range, I'm usually the middle of fair or the last fair before they turn to light. I also love the shade of Make Up For Ever R230 on me (1R12 in the HD Skin) and the Wet n Wild Tinted Hydrator in Fair.
@@gillypiexo I also need the " gray" neutral undertone. Missha in 21 is great. Also love Nars in Mont Blanc. Clinique Even Better In Alabaster or Chamois. I would agree with most of the shades that Shelly likes. We have a similar complexion.
Hmm. Not sure if this would work for me. I do prefer a more satin/glowy foundation. This may be too drying for my already dry skin. It's a pass for me, Shelly. Sorry it didn't work for you. Thanks for reviewing it. Have a great weekend. 💞💞
I have really good luck with the CoverGirl TruBlend Matte Made (which wears more like a satin on me) and the Wet n Wild Tinted Hydrator! They both get a grade of A from me! The Revlon Age Perfect one in the tube is great too.
Me too, it accentuated my wrinkles. I love the swirly cream look of the container and I liked the coverage but I stopped applying in where I have the most wrinkles since it looked worse, oh well.
Thank you for your review on this. I’m going to pass on it but I’m going to get the primer. I have a drawer full of primers that I used to love but they just don’t do it for me anymore.
I used this product. Once. Broke out in acne bumps the very next day. I'm 63. This was ridiculous. Thanks for the memory - that was the youngest my skin ever looked since menopause. But not in a good way.
I tried this and it didnt work as well as several others. It seems to be drying and shows up kind of chalky on me. I am 63 and have tried several drug store foundations which are much better! ELF satin foundation is the very very best for me. I dont want to throw out the Covergirl so I mix it with Flower beauty and its okay.
I want to try this foundation so I wanted to see some reviews and I found you and immediately subscribed! I love how honest and real you are! Thank you for reviewing this! Your makeup sponge looks so soft and bouncy! Do you remember what sponge you were using so I can buy it? 🥰☺️😊🥰
So looking up videos for this foundation i got today i found this video and another one you did 5 years ago for covergirl + okay simple ageless liquid foundation. That might be the video you were thinking about
Hi Shelly, just letting you know your editors messed up the swatch descriptions. They show Estee Lauder as “todays” foundation. Thanks for another great review!😊
Thank you!! I've had a typo in my notes that I give them that they copy from and I just realized I've been transferring it from one to the next :( gah! There's probably one more foundation review with it that I've already sent in. Unfortunately UA-cam doesn't let us revise the video files without losing all of the comments.
Sheglam Skinfluencer did the exact same thing for me. It just SAT on my face. As far as being too young....I am 57 with lots of fine lines, that type of balmy product just doesn't work.
@@goow You are right. At the moment I am talking to you, I am wearing Loreal 4 in 1 tinted balm. It looks dewy and smooth on my face but honestly I do the touch up throughout the day in order to upkeep the fresh look. I am waiting for my order for Loreal True Match Super Blendable. I think that one is a real deal.
@@goow Oh no! I seldom get pimples unless it's that time of the month, but that & L'oreal True Match always breaks me out. Too bad because the price is right & the finish was beautiful
My back yard backs up to a forest but I am in a residential neighborhood as far as side-to-side goes! So yep, neighbors all around, except in the back when I want to pretend I live in an elf house in the woods 😂
Hi Shelley oh dear this wasn't the best on you. The "wrinkle defying" is probably something to do with the white swirl of "skincare" in it and less about whether it settles into lines etc. This isn't available in the UK anyway, but wouldn't be on my wishlist seeing how dry it looked. A cream foundation can look amazing on dry skin, but this is a cream to powder formulation and that's a very different thing. Best wishes.
I tried this foundation a while back but since I don’t really remember, it apparently didn’t leave a good impression. I have finally found 2 foundations I love but I’m on the lookout for a really good primer, can’t cover those darn pores🤦🏻♀️

This foundation works so differently on me! I'm 45 and have dry skin, and I absolutely LOVE it!
I am glad!!! I thought it would work better on me! I gave it a second try but same :(
Me too. Dry Skin works well with this product. I love it.

I wore this in my early 20s and loved it. It has great coverage and is quick and easy to apply. Then my skin got dry and I need something hydrating.
When I tried this I had a similar experience. When I saw “balm” I figured it would be dewy and hydrating, so I was let down. I never tried it again on my dry, maturing skin. Nice to see you Shelly!💜
Same here - it is not for dry skin! (It has talc in it!)
I really like this foundation. It works beautifully as an eyeshadow primer on my crinkled mature lids!
I believe this foundation is to defy wrinkles over time.... 😘
I use this with a brush and I love it! The lightest color is perfect for me in the winter and I go to the second shade in the summer.
Nice, i was also curious about how it would apply with a brush👍

Would love to see you test out The Age 20s Korean foundation( Amazon) It's INCREDIBLE for dry skin and feels so lush.
I see that foundation is on a big sale for Black Friday 🎉
