- I and motorcycle boots have not had a great relationship over the years! I could never get a set of boots to last 2 years, these lasted 4. Not only that, the normal thing that fails didn't, I am very impressed by Frank Thomas motorcycle gear!

If you use a pair of pliers to pinch the bottom end of the zip, it should fix the problem. Its simply due to the material flexing over time 👍
The teeth of the zip get removed from the support material, there is no fixing that sadly.
I tried the race boots for first time. Could not move my toes really stiff and could not feel the gear shifter or the rear brake at all. So decided to just get moto hi tops instead.
How long did you try them for? You have to break boots in.
I don't bother with boots with zips simply because they are so prone to breaking so I've got ones that buckle close (Forma half hight adventure boots)
Copy pasting my reply from someone saying the same thing, I have had boots like that before, the issue I had was having size 12 feet means the boots are huge and fitting them in to the shifter gap of some bikes I was riding was difficult at best. Yes it would be fine for my own bikes where I can adjust the shift lever but I can not do that on review bikes.
@spicy110 Completely understandable, I could only imagine the struggle/unconvince.
Thanks for video, hope to see an update in a year or so on them, then I'd possibly consider getting some
I just wish someone would make a hybrid boot, a street boot with clasps! 😃
I only had 1 zip broke on my first pair of boots.
Normally the sole wears down first. 😅
I have said it before "I am the zip destroyer" lol
@@spicy110 I destroyed the zips on my textile jeans more than a few times.
Those are easier to replace though
I like them, I'm just weirded out having another man's name branded on me and my clothing.. a black sharpie would be needed..
Haha what, why is that an issue?
I had this same issue with my last pair of Sidi boots ... decided to try boots with MX style buckle closures for the first time so got a pair of Gaerne G-Adventure last year and so for they've been great. The buckles have a ton of adjustment and can be fully replaced individually (buy the spare parts online), they feel solid and very protective yet also very comfy for riding and walking .. my favourite bit is the thick footbed and chunky sole, gives great grip on all surfaces and adds a touch of height to the wearer too - good for a bit of extra confidence if you have a tall bike. They've since shot up in price though, now around £250 - where as I paid about £170 .... worth it for the price I got them for but at £250 there are others that may be better from the likes of Forma, Merlin, Sidi etc

@@spicy110 Yep, 100% agree .. the toe box on adventure type boots can be pretty large, I had to adjust the gear lever on my bike upwards by about half a cm to accommodate the Gaerne toe box. The manufacturers are missing a trick here, like you say, street boots with the buckle / clasp fastening could prove quite popular.
Yep, but I can't do that with review bikes. 🙂
@@spicy110 fair point
The zip breaking is handy for the manufacturers, as consumers give them leeway for this part giving way, rather than soles etc, and then forcing customer to buy a new pair more frequently without blaming them directly.
I think you might have hit the head on the nail................or something like that
Gone are the days [ yes an old fart commenting ] when they built stuff and it lasted longer than the buyer. During the BOER war....oh wait I'm not that old 🤣🤣🤣🤣
nearly all my gear is frank thomas
Not waterproof, interesting.
None of my gear is.
If you like this video............pfffft [ of course I do but can't you become a Time Lord / Time Traveller and buy/test stuff and then release a review so we can buy 'the good stuff' ? - thought not ]
Your next assignment, should you chose to accept it, is to invent a Time Machine [ and no not your bloody clocks on motorcycle parts]
