Great info! Thanks. FYI - Kohler has a lot of their product available in 3D file formats. Please post if you know of other manufacturers doing the same thing.
Joining the pieces into one object in Blender 4.1 results in an 'Active object is not a selected mesh' warning. Edit: With a bit of web-searchery, I found that clicking on one element in the importing object, then selecting all, then ctrl + j to join works ok. On reddit, 'One of them has to be the active object. Active objects will be highlighted in yellow rather than orange. If you click one of the objects once it should set it as active.'
Nice solution. I have modeled a lot of arch. in Sketchup where you just choose a window from the 3D Whse. and it places it directly on the wall face and cuts the hole at the same time. It's incredibly slick plus obviously the building industry is supplying SKP native 3D models. I use Blender much more, but for architecture . . . yeah, SKP/Layout is pretty hard to beat. It just doesn't render anywhere near the level of Blender of course. At this point I am modeling art in Blender, arch. in SKP, importing the art into SKP, and dimension dwgs either in SKP directly, or formal drawings in Layout. It's quite a convoluted workflow, yet somehow the quickest route to what I need. Would love to be able to do most of that in Blender.
I agree - I don't understand the people that say that Blender has already passed SketchUp in the architectural area, or that it's a better drafting tool. That's just not true. Not to say Blender isn't awesome, but it's clearly designed to be more of a Maya/Max competitor, not to be a drafting tool. Glad you've found a workflow that works for you though! :)
Hey niceguy, THANKS a lot for your work...it's great how do you explain it!=)... I think that for Blender Dwarfs and not native english speaker like me, it could be very useful, to see the shortcuts you manage...its only a little suggestion that could have a big impact...aaand yes after your vid i will use more manufacture models like windows, doors, etc... well, mi Pana enjoy your weekend keep healthy, adios...§=))
Only really used verlux windows. Didn't know they had models for other windows. Will check out those sites! Hope they have bay windows! They are a nightmare to create!
hello this is unrelated to a video, but basically i’m new to blender and i’ve loved making some renders with it. but recently now that i’ve been getting interior room models from sites like cgtrader and free3d, i’ve run into a problem where i have to download the obj file and texture files separately, and put the textures onto each individual object manually. it’s a very lengthy process and just painful in general. do you happen to know a way to import a object and it’s textures all at the same time? or to assign a obj all of it’s textures at once? (i tried the find missing files thing and it never works). thank you, i really love making graphical art and i want to continue but this issue is holding me back.
Not 100% sure I understand the question - I don't know that they're super specific in their terms of service about useage of their models in other softwares. It's a bit of a tricky area because they encourage manufacturers to host their models in that Warehouse - if Kitchenaid, for example, decided to host their library on the SketchUp Warehouse, it doesn't leave users of other programs much of an option
I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work because it would only cut where it intersects with the wall. The problem is, you don't just want the window location cut - you want an entire full cut through the wall, which is why I use the rectangle
Hi everyone! Let me know if you're using any manufacturer models in the comments below! :)

Nice! I liked the cutting trick using wireframe
Awesome - glad it helped! :)

Can you do a video teaching how to do multiple levels/stories/basement in Archpack pro?
you are really awesome. You find exatly what I search ty.
Perfect!
Great tutorial!
HI, I don't know why, but blender doesn't install the add-ons. How can I resolve it? Thanks

I wish home builders did this with their floor plans

The way you are making the windows cuts is so hard and slow. There must be an easier way.
No restrictions of use for 3d warehouse models in blender - by the way blender provide a collada import - ?

Why can't you use the window as boolean instead of creating the cube?
