For anyone who is confused, I had to have a colonoscopy this week, so I recorded this video on Wednesday. It is now Friday....I have had my colonoscopy and everything went well. If you want to see me be extremely drugged post-procedure, add hankgre on Snapchat. Also...WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE ANIMAL!?!

Even though paper towns made less than TFIOS at the opening box office doesn't change the fact that it still made its budget in a weekend. So I'd call it a success
Not entirely true, it made its production budget, not its marketing budget.
Giorgi Tsurtsumia Yeah, but this box office result could give the studio that financed the film second thoughts about getting behind a future film by John.
Giorgi Tsurtsumia in order for a movie to break even, it has to make about double it's production budget because often times the marketing budget is equal to how much was spent to actually make the movie. I'm sure it will get there, and more. But it's not the overnight success that tifos was so people are worried, I guess.

That seems really likely! I suppose the only real difference is that people arent seeing it opening night as much as they did with tfios.
Maybe after all this time I can say that I was in no way disappointed with how it went and actually thrilled and kind of relieved. Also, Hank had a more recent colonoscopy I think. -John

I watched the movie today.
Although I went in with low expectations - due to the critiques I read in the past- the movie kept on challenging my initial perception!
The movie had loveable scenes and the actors (who turned out to be 22 or younger at the time) really succeeded in delivering their performances.
It was a heartfelt road trip of a film
I agree that the movie followed the books message to a tee. That book is the one that taught me that you should never project your fantasies or ideals onto people because they're just people just like you. So when Q learns that Margo is just Margo that's okay and in fact it's a good thing because Q realizes that things don't have to be extraordinary to be amazing. It was an excellent lesson that I hope doesn't fall on deaf ears.
I think the reason paper towns isn't doing as well as TFIOS is because that movie had an incredibly unique premise that was easy to communicate on a commercial- romantic story about kids with cancer. That got a lot of people who aren't already John Green fans interested and helped catapult it. Paper towns doesn't have that. It's a complex story about fairly normal people, but that's not easy to explain in a 30 seconds ad.
Also the fact that a marvel movie and a Pixar film are still out may not be helping things. (TFIOS didn't really have much competition, so people were more likely to give it a go).
I couldn't agree with you more. In my opinion Paper Towns isn't any less good the TFIOS is. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love tfios. But this just seemed more real to me. And I love stories like that. I think the movie wasn't far behind the book. Loved it and I can't wait to see it again.
***** I actually thought they did a better job with the Paper Towns movie than with TFIOS. I think they really nailed the characters in Paper Towns and brought in all the important details from the story. The only thing I didn't like (MOVIE SPOILERS!!!) was that Margo really wasn't upset when Q showed up in Agloe. She was confused, of course, but she had everything held together and seemed fine. It didn't mention that Margo had only meant for Q to find the first few clues, and the rest Q figured out on his own. I think an important detail about Margo was that she really did want to leave for good and she wanted to forget what she'd left behind. She didn't care if everyone knew she was okay, she was kind of a mess, she was living on granola bars in an abandoned store. All those very drastic contrasts to Q's vision of Margo were taken away in the movie, and she was closer to how Q had pictured her. There just wasn't as much of an impact of realizing, "Wow, okay, Margo's pretty selfish and thoughtless and totally not at all who Q thought she was."
***** That might explain why less people have gone to see it. It doesn't explain why it has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 56%
When people asked me what paper towns is about, i always have trouble explaining it. I loved it though, and even my younger brother said he thought it was really good (hes a generally unenthusiastic person)

A teen-cancer-love story. With good characters, good acting, family aspects and some humour...that was so heartbreaking that everyone cried. TFIOS also had a cool plot- Hazel, to Hazel's family, to the Support Group, to Hazel meeting Augustus, to Gus's family, to An Imperial Affliction, to Issac, to travelling to Amsterdam, to Peter Van Houten, to Gus and Hazel's first kiss and making love, to Gus getting sick, to Gus dying, to the funeral and to the ending. All the humour, good acting, chemistry, cancer, good characters and tears. TFIOS is also more popular and well know.
AND Paper Towns film was crap! :)
My favorite moment in Paper Towns was when I was looking at all the characters and feeling emotional about how great their friendships were suddenly realizing that MY friendships are like that. So "normal people having normal but wonderful moments" is exactly what my experience was.
Following people on multiple platforms can get confusing, because I was like, "Wait, didn't the procedure happen already? You wanted a bagel afterwards? Am I psychic?" And then to my disappointment I realized, no, I'm not psychic; I just have a Twitter account.
I'm so glad it wasn't just me that this happened to haha!

I think what I liked most about Paper Towns the movie was the dynamic between Q and all of his friends. It felt very authentic and like how people actually interact and it made me really happy.
My disappointment is that there were a bunch of little changes that in the end, added up to make it feel a lot less suspenseful, and make the characters seem less real and more cliche.
1. I *really* wanted to see Sea World. Even if you called it Waterplace or something, that would've been still cool.
2. In the book, Quentin and his friends were in band together, and it added a layer of experience and personality to them. Here, they meet in the empty band room just to talk, as a plot convenience, because every movie about kids/teens needs there to be a place where they can just so happen to always meet at any time in privacy with no adults around, because that's somehow the way the world seems to work out totally.
3. Quentin didn't have to pretend to be sick to skip school. The fact that he was missing a day of school was huge in the book. He had perfect attendance, and he didn't want to let go of that. In the movie it was an afterthought, mentioned in passing.
4. He didn't receive a new car as a gift. In the book, he got a car, which should've made him happy, but it was a disappointing car, and it was a burden to be the guy with a car, and have to take care of the car. A perfect analogy on how things in life go. Here, he stole one of his parent's car, and it seemed like they also brushed off how scary it was to do that here too.
5. When Quentin went to the abandoned building, he contemplated how it looked like a snapshot frozen in time. He even found a calendar stuck on February 1982 or something. Here, it was just a boring gross building where they looked for clues and got scared of every little noise.
6. In the book, Margo wrote that she was leaving Agloe on a certain date, at a certain time. Therefore, they had to break the speed limit on the highway, and they even passed a cop doing that. Here? Oh, let's just hope to get back to prom before time! Because you know, every teenager loves school prom dances. Going 60 on a 75 highway? Just go up to 75 and you'll be good.
7. In the book, when Quentin swerved for the cows, it was a "wall of cows" crossing the road. Quentin dramatically threw his hands in the air, as if he were giving up, when his friend heroically grabs the wheel. They inspect the damage, and there's a scratch so bad, you can see from the inside of the car to the outside.
In the movie? One cow. Quentin was talking and wasn't looking. His drunk friend swerves the wheel. Everyone's safe, and it's all good. How boring!!
I appreciate your view that even "normal" adventures are still valuable, but the book seemed to be about letting go of your need to be safe and normal, and start creating crazy adventures, even in normal places with normal things and normal circumstances, even if it's really scary. Here, that's all brushed off. If I didn't read the book or know John Green, I would've said this movie was just another boring teen love story movie.
LimeGreenTeknii I agree with all of that. I felt in general the movie just wasn't as fleshed out as the book and as a result it didn't drive the point home as hard. I also didn't like that they were able to piece together Margo's clues so quickly in the movie, as it didn't come across as well that she hadn't left them intentionally. I do want to point out though that it was only two cows in the book, and the "great white wall of cow" referred to the one single cow that they were going to hit. It just looks a lot more noticeably underwhelming onscreen. (Not to say hitting a single cow at 70 mph isn't terrible. You will incur some serious damage doing that.)
LimeGreenTeknii Finally someone with my opinion about the movie!
While some of the things, they changed (I don´t miss Sea World) are not a big deal, some really are.
My main complainments are:
1.) The riddles are way too easy for Quentin in the movie
He literally solves them in seconds and in the books he sometimes needs days to do so.
The whole movie was kind of rushed, they could have easily made it 20 minutes longer.
2.) The spent time of the roadtrip just doesn´t count up.
I mean they spend 5-7 hours waiting after the cow-incident, but don´t need more time to reach Agloe as in the book. This is just impossible, when taking the car.
3.) The whole thing that Q and his friends thought that Margo might have killed herself was missing, which added another layer to the book.
4.) The movie is much more targeted on teens, than the book was.
The love storys of Ben/Radar became much more important, but the reasons why Margo really needs to leave and Q´s thoughts about Margo became less important.
Don´t get me wrong I still liked the movie and would give it like 7 out of 10, but the book is one of my absolute favorites.
The movie did make me laugh and it was enjoyable but I completely agree!! honestly there was a point in the book that I was sure Margo was dead and it was killing me to find out. That suspense on whether he would find Margo alive or not was completely taken out of the movie
I think you're all forgetting that this is a film, and in films you have to make some changes. I've read the book but haven't seen the film.
1: Don't know why you're so upset about no Seaworld in the film. The visit to Seaworld in the book wasn't particularly significant to the story as a whole. Also, if they went to a place similar to Seaworld and PETA didn't like it, then the film could have been disastrous.
2: you can't include everything in the film from the book. I doubt you really needed to see them play in the band to see that they're all nerds. Filming in the band room confirms it if you're not too sure up to that point. Seeing them play in the band all the time would have gotten boring.
3: Once again, you can't include everything because it would be boring. Not too sure why you're unhappy over this as well.

Jennie Kerfuffle I understand the pain/guilt. I live in Iran & everything I've ever watched or listened to is illegally downloaded. Except like a handful of albums I have bought in my vacations.
I'm taiwanese,as I remember the movie is gonna come out in Aug.21 in taiwan,it sucks that we have to wait for this long,but really I'm going to see the movie just for cara delevingne,sue me.
Actually last year TFIOS planed to come out in August in Taiwan , but suddenly they changed their whole plan and let TFIOS come out ahead of time.
I thought that PT would do the same thing just like TFIOS did , but apparently, we all have to wait for almost a month.
I'm really glad you had a similar opinion on it. I've had friends who straight up hate the movie because they think it's boring or the plot doesn't really have a point. Which kinda makes me sad. Not much you can do about that though.
mjc3bb I personally think it wasn't as successful because it wasn't as "chick flick" as TFIOS was. TFIOS had that love story aspect that Paper Towns wasn't as obviously showing. Paper Towns had a total different theme that movie goers may not have liked as much.

I love Paper Towns (book & movie). I can't choose a favorite book though. I was merely saying why I thought TFIOS was earning more at the box office the first week.
I personalny didn't really like TFIOS bc it was such a chic flick and it was about love, pure romantic love. Paper towns (I didn't see a movie but I read the book) wasn't really that much about love than it was about feelings and how people express them. And how people aren't more than people and even when there is Margo and she's so adventurous and crazy and hot she's just a human wanted to be respected and not be seen as an angel or something. When TFiOS was more about making choices in life that you think will be bad but at the end they were actually all you need.
It also probably because a lot of people over reacted TFiOS making it like this teenage girl stereotype and now people are ashamed of John's other content and that's shitty as he himself can't do anything about it.

I know you don't know or trust me, but I have seen the film twice now and have loved it both times. It can't be a facsimile film version of the book, but it's the perfect sister to it, the perfect companion to the Doctor, if you will. Seriously though, you will enjoy the film.

Sorry for not praising Paper Towns. I know it's not like Gone Girl, and it's probably quite good, I just got that Gone Girl vibe from the trailer. And also, why is comparing something to Gone Girl a bad thing? Gone Girl was a fantastic movie. Personally, I'm not a fan of romance novels, or movies. Also, don't hate me for not liking the same things you do. There are such things as OPINIONS. Something you should educate yourselves on.

Life is so complicated in a world wherein our culture in general doesn't value creative endeavors or creators as highly as most other things... making it an uphill climb for most people who do those things. Thanks for continuing to put this in context and perspective.
Part of what made Paper Towns so special is how it didn't romanticize teenage life. Yes, the characters had epic adventures and amazing moments but they also joked about "stupid" stuff and idolized people not worth idolizing. Paper Towns felt "real" and maybe that's why it wasn't as successful but was still amazing.
Also Hank's snapchat is gold right now.
I'm a 40-something English teacher and have been John's greatest fan since Alaska first came out. I saw the movie with my 26-year-old son, my 60-something mom, and my 12-year-old son. We all loved it. I love John's stories because they aren't all "Hollywood" and unnaturally embellished. They are so much smarter than that. They expect us to be. If Paper Towns is less popular, it's because people are looking for showy, mindless entertainment. Nat couldn't have been better in any way, and the young men who played Radar and Ben were adorable. Sometimes popularity isn't the best measure for success. John, you will always be my favorite for your layers of truth, your humor, and your perspective of life and people. 💗💜💗💜
I am still not sure if I want to see the movie, because I love the book so much. So much. It is my favorite John Green book and has been very close to the top of my favorite books ever since it came out. I have read it many times and every time, I learn something new from it. But I feel like the plot, and maybe even the characters, are not where the book is strongest. For a film, those things tend to take center stage. So I'm wondering: are there any people here who feel the same way I do about the book? Did you see the movie? Did you like it? Would love to hear your thoughts.
I too passionately loved the book, and I'm not a fan of the movie. Lots and lots of stuff is changed, to the point where I felt it was unfaithful. If you want specifics, I can spoil.
Fourteen Lines Stuff was definitely different in the movie, with that said, I loved it. I honestly thought it added something amazing. The friendship between Q, Ben, and Radar in particular is so incredible in the movie I would say it's a must see just for that. For me the fact that some plot points where changed is far far less important than how the movie made me feel and how faithful it was to the themes of the book - which in my opinion it very much was.
Fourteen Lines It's my favorite book and I absolutely loved the movie despite the changes they made. Some of the changes they made were reasonable and the feeling the movie gave me were the same feelings I got after reading the book.
Fourteen Lines Paper Towns is also my favorite John Green book. So as usual when seeing a book turned into a movie I was worried I might ruin it. And though there are several changes, I really liked the movie. There was something about seeing the characters that made me understand them differently than when I had read it. And usually that might make me dislike the movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned from it.
Fourteen Lines I did not enjoy the book as much as you did particularly towards the middle but I kept on going and found myself enjoying the story again. Despite that when I went to see the movie I was upset that certain parts of the story did not go along with the book because those were some of the great moments in the book. Having said that the movie was quite enjoyable. For me the main take away from the movie is about being there for your close/best friend(s) but also not be afraid to say what you feel especially when you think they're gonna get hurt in the end.
I hope the captured the subversion of expectations well in the movie. I really enjoyed the book because of the way it makes you reconsider the conceptions of other people you've built up in your head, or how you might have tried to influence the others' conceptions of you.
Paper Towns is by no means unsuccessful just because the opening weekend was lower than TFIOS. Both had budgets of only $12 million, so neither had to perform like a huge blockbuster in order to have success. TFIOS made $48m in its opening weekend, about 4x it's budget which is amazing, but non common for that kind of film. Overall, it reached over $300m worldwide, or around 25x it's budget. Paper Towns made $12m in its first weekend, which means it made back it's budget in 3 days, something that superhero movies don't usually even do. Assuming a solid 3x-3.5x opening weekend to final multiplier, Paper Towns should make about $36m-$42m total and that's just in the US. With foreign totals added on, Paper Towns should end up being very successful.
Ive been watching your videos for a while now and although i understand that your relationship as brothers can not be as perfect as it seems on UA-cam, im extremely happy you guys have one. Your productions keep our minds interested and keep us coming back for more. I hope this relationship continues as is, with questioning, interest and that unique humor you guys bring to us. Thank you so much for all that you have taught me.

I just got back from seeing Paper Towns and I really liked it, more than i liked TFIOS. It felt more like the movie to a John Green book. It had the same vibe, it gave you the same feeling as the book. I'm usually overly critical when it comes to adaptations and criticize details being left out (i mean the author put them in there for a reason!), but with this movie i really didn't care. and this was probably one of the books i've read the most times, so i knew the story by heart and i absolutely felt like the movie did the novel justice (more so than the tfios movie, which, at least for my taste, was a little too sweet if that makes sense.)

I really do like unscripted vlogbrothers videos. They seem to have a level of verisimilitude that creates more of a human connection. Almost like one of the themes in Paper Towns...
I went to see Paper Towns for the Night Out showing the night before it opened, and the audience was so happy to be there! It was terrific, and I need to tell you (John...if you read this) that I agree with what Hank said about this moving touching people in a significant way. I'm perhaps not in your target demographic, but as a soon to be 60-year old, I am keenly aware that I am entering the final third of my life, much like your lead character was getting ready to enter a new era of his life. I find that I deal with some of the same issues about going into the new journey. I was very encouraged to make the most of my next phase, and to just get up and DO things--take some risks--be awesome (as I always am!). Thanks for this movie. While I liked TFIOS very much, I have to say that THIS movie changed my life. (Geez, Kevin, melodramatic much?).
I find it really weird that this movie isn't doing as well, but at the same time- as I sit here -someone who hasn't yet seen it- I realize I may have a theory as to why. Ok, so TFIOS was about something sure to break hearts. It was a movie about kids with cancer and it was painted as this epic love story "chick flick" thing. And it was the first movie made based off one of John's books- so all the nerdfighters were super excited about this thing that's never happened before! Suddenly, our weird little corner of the internet had a major motion picture! This is all SO WEIRD!
And then, it happened again. Less weird now. We started to see patterns in how the movie was both made and marketed, and in this particular marketing tour, we nerd fighters anyway can see how little the interviewers actually cared about the book, and in turn the story. We saw bits of this in the last marketing tour, for TFIOS but only bits. I got the weird impression that the interviewers were more careful around TFIOS because it's about kids with cancer and they knew one disrespectful comment could be seen as them minimizing cancer kids struggles.
And...
I'm just gonna say it. No one dies in this story.
I think, people expecting someone to die in TFIOS was part of why it did so well. Tragic love stories do well.
This time around, as a nerd fighter anyway- I just don't feel the urgentness behind seeing this movie. I want too see it. And I will. But I'm in no rush. I know it'll be around when I get to it in a week. I don't know why this movie feels less urgent to me. Maybe because I know it'll do well? I was so confident it'd break the records that I thought "it doesn't need me."
Now I see that it kinda does. I hope this movie does do well, because if the studio loses any money on this, or even doesn't make as much as it would like- we can kiss all other movies made based off John's books good bye. And I really want a looking for alaska movie.
I watched this movie and felt empty after it. I spent a day cursing the movie out and thinking about what made it so bad, but then it hit me: I just didn't understand the movie. I then read the book, and suddenly the movie made sense!
I came to the conclusion that the movie was just the same as the book when it coems to Margo's and Quentins emotions. I realized that the two actually love each other in the end, and not just the ideas of each other, which is why they kiss. Now, I feel like this was cut short in the movie, but it makes me feel better about the ending.
I then rewatched the movie and noticed all the clever little things, like the way Margo looks at Quentin when he tells her she's beautiful at the top of the SunTrust building, you can see her really start to think differently about him there. I also like the very last sentence regarding Margo's whereabouts at the end: "I dont listen to those rumors anymore". I feel like this could imply that he knows whre she is.
After finishing the movie, I didn't feel empty anymore: but then I read people's reviews on the internet again. "Margo is so selfish and her character is uninteresting","I hated the movie", "The point of the movie is to make you hate Margo". I felt like I had gotten the movie wrong, maybe because I tried so hard to make the ending seem happy. Then I found this review, and I absolutely agree with it. This is how I see the movie.

Paper Towns was wonderful! I was lucky enough to see Night on the Towns while I was in Anaheim for Vidcon and witness the live simulcast afterwards. It was a very special moment to follow a very special movie about, as Hank says, normal people doing normal things.
Also yes Vidcon was awesome! I had so many thoughts about it, some of which I tried to put in a video, but no one video can do justice to all the amazing things that happened and all the feelings that ensued. Thank you Hank and staff and volunteers and everyone for making it great!
I'm sorry, but the movie was bad. It totally lost sight of the whole point, which was to invalidate to idea of the manic pixie dream girl. Not only did it focus on
Margo through the male gaze for the entire movie, it romanticized Q's relationship with her, therefore ruining the point that men don't deserve romance as a prize for The Hero's Journey. Thumbs down :/

I went to see this alone on a Tuesday at 11:30 and was in a theatre with three middle-aged adults. They didn't seem to appreciate my hysterical laughter at parts but I seriously loved it. Well-adapted from the book and just a great movie in its own rights, too.
Congratulations for putting out the best Vidcon ever, Hank! Looks like this convention thing is in your wheelhouse. Smoothly executed. And, it gets better every year.

Just found Hank by accident. Didn't know he existed outside of SciShow. I can't find the term paper town because of this show. I would have never found Hank outside of SciShow if the map term wasn't overshadowed by this show.
VidCon was amazing, Paper Towns is amazing, Hank's pre- and post-procedure snapchats are amazing...my favorite animal is the octopus.

There is a little bit of me that really hopes the trajectory of nerdfighteria will be kind of like the movies. TFIOS was great and everything but I think nerdfighteria is really way more about the little moments, the cool but not ridiculous things we get to do together, and that a smaller more ordinary not getting written about in every news outlet ever kinda trajectory is nice in a way.
The awkwardly uncomfortable body language of a Green brother complimenting his sibling will never cease to bring me joy :)
Couldn't agree with you more about Paper Towns, Hank! I can't help but feeling that it deserves near the amount of popularity thAT TFIOS had--but I think you hit the nail on the head with it being about ordinary people and their lives. I came out of the movie thinking that the reason it's so different and unique in style (and extremely different from TFIOS) is that it is more relatable for the "ordinary person". TFIOS was full of pretty uncommon circumstances, but Paper Towns is about high school friendship and learning about the complexity of others.
I love the way he summed up the book, wow. It's my favorite book, and I haven't been able to really explain it to anyone without making it sound stupid, but this is a wonderful explanation. THANK YOU SO MUCH HANK

I completely agree it isn't Frodo going to Mordor. We went last Wednesday, stuck in traffic for 4 hours on the M6 and when we finally got there half the place was closed because it was raining. The books and film make it out to be way more exciting than it actually is.

Great video! Hank is right, the way we measure success is very arbitrary. A lot of people measure success by how much someone has, if you have a mansion and 5 luxury cars you're a success. That doesn't take into account how happy you are or how happy you make other people. My boyfriend's parents are very inspirational to me in just this way. They are pretty well off, they can afford to buy cars with cash and go on trips but they don't show it all off. They have a modest house and his dad has been driving the same sedan for like 15 years. Some people might call it cheap but they live in a way that makes them happy and I really admire them for that because they seem to understand what matters. And they get points because they adopted my boyfriend and his sister.
I went to see Paper Towns yesterday and my friends and I (all three of us) were the only ones in the theater. It was awesome. We compared it to the book and analyzed decisions made by the film makers and were generally obnoxious. Best. Day. Ever.

Hank, having been through a colonoscopy myself, I totally understand. It seems that we're both far too young to have them, but I can appreciate the inciting circumstances that might have necessitated them. I hope you have nothing but good news! Your message to your brother is one of the most humble and resoundingly supportive that I've ever heard. I hope that I can be so cognizant of my own brothers' success as you have been to John. For what it's worth, you both are equals, in my mind, as to your insight, passion, and outright understanding of the human condition--and that excels in every way to where I am. Thank you for setting a fantastic example, at all turns, and in all things.
Paper Towns was so good! It was the sort of adaptation where you watch it and everything you loved about the book came flooding back. I hadn't read Paper Towns since last summer when I went to see the movie, but as I watched it, all of those great memories of those special moments in the book came back to me. I started to see the characters in the book, and not the actors at all. It was really wonderful. Everyone go see it!
I haven't gone to see it yet, but I plan to in the next few days. Paper Towns was the first book of John's that I read, and I think because of this it's my favorite.

Random note: I share Hank's sentiment about the different and confusion between the titles of the Tom Cruise movie. After seeing this video I stumbled upon an interview of Tom where he briefly mentions Edge of Tomorrow. This interview happened when they had just started filming the movie, and he referred to the project as All You Need is Kill.

Yep. I just watched Paper Towns with some friends. Great movie. But, you know, since you reminded us that it's gonna be the our last year in high school... you made some of us cry. I almost shed a tear as well, but I'M A MAN. ;-; (Said the guy that was about to cry). We loved the movie and we love your awesome work.

Agreed. Paper Towns is my favorite book of all time and seeing it in movie form was even better. I enjoyed it so so much. It was everything I've been hoping for since I read it back in 2010. IT WAS PERFECT.
I am in the middle of reading the book Paper Towns, and want to finish it before I see the movie when it comes out, because I don't want to spoil it, and also I just think that it's better to read the authors perspective before the director of the movie! Paper Towns was always my favourite of John's books, had high expectations/worries for the film...luckily it didn't disappoint me at all, kinda loved it a lot, actually. The message, feeling and tone of the book were all still there and the changes were minimal and honestly necessary, going from book to film.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I did recently finish the book and I think it's a book that will always stay with me. The message, the characters, and the story in general. I'll definitely be buying the DVD!
That's a really cool way to look at the movie, and I think you're right: what makes it good is that it is, for once, an actual movie about real people doing real things and just being friends and supportive of each other. I saw it opening weekend and I liked it - I felt that some of the changes left out a sense of urgency I really appreciated in the book, which bothered me a little, but it is a really good movie and I want to see it again.

I know so many people who, when TFIOS came out, said that they worshiped John and loved all things John and yet when I asked if they saw Paper Towns, they were like, "Paper Towns....?"
