    I've never flown to Bembridge airfield in real life , but I went there as a car-bound civilian years ago. But I installed this and recognised the aerodrome instantly. As always, BBD has recreated it with stunning beauty.The amount of detail is almost distracting - I stopped there on today's sortie from White Waltham to the Channel Islands, but spent ages using the drone, just exploring. The other aeroplanes, the clever car registrations, the plane-spotters, workers, traffic. And The Propellor Inn even has a tough-looking doorman. On a Sunday lunchtime. The carvery is clearly extremely popular!
    Thank so much, Rob. Another great vid and another great airfield.

    BBD airports sre really nice. I would like to see airports of north England, Scotland or Wales too. This is an iconic one and will go into my wishlist. I have almost all BBD airports. I live in Switzerland and wish to do longer VFR flights, not only around London or in the south. Please continue to show us UK airports! At presents I like using the new Piper Tomahawk.

Been across the channel flying out of the new offering from MILTECH, AGL 9 in Normandy, Duxford and RAF Thorpe Abbotts by Wolfie. If BBD fan and appreciate the demo. Btw, the Spit looks better in Camo. Thanks again, Mike

      Left them on auto, radiator door has two positions, manual or auto. You can use manual in a situation where you want to force them open, eg prolonged ground ops.

    Ex BBMF, we always set 2 units nose up trim during Before Flight (BF) servicing of the spits. Just wondering why you set 2 down.

    • @Dreamsofwings
      @Dreamsofwings  Місяць тому +1

      Ah it’s a hot topic. I did a video recently using the BBMF MkIX checklist, having been lucky enough to visit the hangar and Spitfire sim thanks to AuthentiKit. I noticed the difference in trim setting and reminded me that a couple of years ago there was a debate on the Discord about it. The MKI & MkIIa that I flew for years in FSX and P3D all said nose down trim for take off. The manual for this particular MkIX in the sim also says nose down. Professor Google seems to indicate nose down if aircraft isn’t fully loaded, eg no ammo or drop tanks and neutral otherwise. I am sure there is a damn good reason why the BBMF use nose up and I have it in good authority that they aren’t the only ones who use nose up on modern restoration aircraft. I think the result of the discussion last time was that it is very much down to what the pilot prefers unless the aircraft is fully loaded. I like nose down partly from years of habit but also I like how it causes an effortless lift of the tail on the take off roll so tail comes up, continue to roll on mains then lift off.

    • @coxy5850
      @coxy5850 Місяць тому

      It seems we set trim up regardless of pilot preference as they all got the same BF trim setting, they must have been taught to take off in this config from the start. It worked flawlessly for them though, we were never asked to set any other trim. Interesting point though.
      PS have you seen the realistic tree height mod? Ventnor seemed to be buried in trees, I just wondered if this mod would make a difference. Keep the vids coming (especially warbirds), they maintain my sanity while I'm without a PC. 👍

    • @Dreamsofwings
      @Dreamsofwings  Місяць тому

      @@coxy5850 oh it’s definitely sop with the BBMF. I wonder, and this is possibly clutching at straws, if it reduces stress somewhere or perhaps has been proven to be safer. Would be interesting to know. I do practise with trim nose up since visiting the BBMF as it’s worth being able to do it.
      I’ve seen the tree mod but I use Rex Accuseason for trees and have the height set to medium. There is another setting to reduce tree density in ‘citys’ so not sure if that would extend to Ventnor but I might take a look.
      Many thanks for watching sir! 🍻

      @@Dreamsofwings yeah I’m not saying they are ridiculously expensive or unaffordable (they are only £15 ish) I just think compared to other offerings (much larger, more complex airports) they don’t offer as much value for money.
