    My Brother and I fly VR in the JMB VL3 Vertigo. We're working our way around the world. Currently in Scandinavia. Had a great weekend flying from the Orkney's clockwise around the UK, Ireland, over Scotland then to Scandinavia. Got-Friends' freeware Vertigo is such a good sightseeing plane. Fast when needed and such a fun canyon carver.

      I love my Vertigo! Such a beast, yet easy to handle. Heading through a canyon at 200 knots towards a steep mountain face, knowing its 8,000 fpm climb rate will save you (if you don't G-LOC 😉) is a blast. I don't own any warbirds yet, but when I buy one it will undoubtedly be from FlyingIron.

    Your videos get better and better.. Outstanding! Looked so real why visit real Duxford when you have such excellent work from You and Chico. You should see if you could get a review Next Racing HF8 pads as I think it would be fantastic realism for the spit.. So enjoying your videos.. I fly a lot from Duxford so hope to see you. I've been flying the Hellcat and Corsair mainly. Hellcat is my favorite in the sim and in real-world.I tend to like the rugged, less- elegant designs. Also,very fond of the Corsair as it was built and flew its first flight in my home state. In fact every part of it the engine, air frame, and prop was all made in my home state.

    Enjoyed the relaxed flight. I am getting a handle on the Caribou atm, challenging flying in New Zealand because.....well, why not? Disappointed in the exterior sounds from the Spit. The Merlin sounds more insipid than an MG at 45 mph on the motorway! It can't be that hard to give it the Merlin magic.

    • @Dreamsofwings
      @Dreamsofwings  Рік тому

      Many thanks! The sounds have definitely improved with the latest update. It must be very difficult to capture the full music of the Merlin. I need to try and get into the Caribou. I bought it but in the first flight was a bit underwhelmed however I keep getting told how great it is so much give it more time.

    This is a lovely Spitfire. It'll be interesting for me to compare it to the DCS Mk.IX. I love the "combat" side of DCS, but goodness the world doesn't half feel "dead" compared to MSFS2020. I was at IWM Duxford just a couple days ago and managed to catch one of their Hurricanes warming up and taking off. Your comments about people getting paid to do this echoed my own! Can't be bad eh!
    Speaking of Hurricanes, are there any high quality paid modules for one in FS2020? The Spitfire always gets the love, but I've always been a Hurricane man myself.

    Awesome! I'm not a fan of warbirds or military aircraft in general in MSFS because why bother when there's DCS, but I've got to say this is some of the coolest looking and sounding engine start up I've seen. The latest videos I've seen of this Spit really make me wanna pull the trigger on it, no pun intended. How does the updated flight model compare to some other warbirds you've flown ?

    • @Dreamsofwings

      Thanks! Yeah if you fly them as restorations in the modern world it makes more sense and puts it into context of why you are flying them in a civvy sim lol There's a few things getting tweaked on the next Spit update I believe but it's pretty good and one of the best in MSFS,

    Great flight and thank you. I see your coolant radiator registered 120+ on touch down! your rads fully open? at what temp do you get steam? It seems temps in MSFS are modeled differently than DCS

    • @Dreamsofwings
      @Dreamsofwings  Рік тому

      Thanks, rads open as per checklist which I went through. Not sure if steam appears in this. Manual states that on ground you can get away with 115 max for about 10 mins. Just realised this was a comment on the Spit video, I thought this was the BF 109 video.

  • @davidhull9168
    @davidhull9168 4 місяці тому

    Why does the current version not allow one to fly the Spit Mk 9C with the canopy open? I always understood if the weather good enough, one would take off with an open canopy, only closing it if everything was working OK when in flight.

    • @Dreamsofwings
      @Dreamsofwings  4 місяці тому

      You still can but I have noticed it seems to default start with it closed so you just have to open it again.

    • @davidhull9168
      @davidhull9168 4 місяці тому

      Sorry your answer does not solve my issue. If I take off with the canopy open, within one second in a spitfire Mk 9C the programme dumps me and displays the message. "You overstressed the aircraft and caused critical damage" This also happens if I open the canopy during a flight after everything being A OK with it shut. It's as if my last spitfire update allowed some bad software in that is now causing this false overstress message to appear I have tried to figure out what's going on but can't.

    • @Dreamsofwings
      @Dreamsofwings  4 місяці тому +1

      @davidhull9168 ah ok understood, yes I have heard of that. I have aircraft (not engine) stress damage off because it can conflict with other 3rd party addons so I’ve not seen this myself but I know others have mentioned. The official word from the devs is to disable this as it doesn’t add to the realism but causes problems.

    • @davidhull9168
      @davidhull9168 4 місяці тому

      I have added some 3rd party UK only airfields over the years due to their extra detail. I do now feel my false overstress problem started about then. I wish to retain ALL these extra detailed airfields as I have no way of knowing which one, if any, contains the batch of software that has caused this annoying problem. Re:- AIRCRAFT stress, OFF. How does one achieve that setting in EASY stages please as I am not very good at making BIG changes that can affect important flight settings. If one does it in a bad way, it could become a big mess up. I do wish the flight settings to remain HARD not EASY. ps. Many thanks for your expert efforts you are a massive asset promoting this wonderful sim. @@Dreamsofwings

    • @Dreamsofwings
      @Dreamsofwings  4 місяці тому +1

      Many thanks sir! Ok this is a nice easy fix and it's purely related to MSFS and not any addon scenery or anything like that. You will still have realistic flight models etc but just not the unrealistic aircraft stress that is built into MSFS that can cause issues with more realistic 3rd party aircraft like this Spit.
      So first thing to do is go to the main Options page in MSFS, then select the top right quadrant 'Assistance Options'. Once in here select 'Failure and Damage' and then set 'Aircraft Stress Damage' to DISABLED. This will solve your problem and apart from being able to open your canopy to land, as us Spit pilots should, you won't notice any other difference.

    • @Dreamsofwings

      I have sensitivity at -50% either way, 0% dead zone, neutral at 0, extremity dead zone at 0 and reactivity at 100. Not sure if that is the best way to be honest and I should probably do some more research lol!

    • @smithy2u
