Wow Sam I have to say I am very impressed with your painting! I have painted a lot and when I saw your brushes I got a bit scared, to be honest, but you conquered even the lousy brushes and created a really beautiful galaxy! I honestly love it, it reminds me a lot of the northern lights we see a lot of this time of year here in Sweden. Have you ever seen them? So don’t judge yourself, nobody else is, you are better than you think!
Now treasure your bible and be proud of your work!

Sam, I think you did a GREAT job! I love the colors that you chose! It's sad that you have to tell people not to leave mean comments ☹ I was taught if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing. God bless you.

We are all artists, including you, but we don't all have the same talents. I am a recovering perfectionist, so the things you say about your work really resonate with me because I've said them all to myself when I tried new things. I have decided to enjoy the process as much as my products. I'm glad that you seem proud that you tried and now you also have the memory documented on your hobonichi, too (the white splatters)! Enjoy your beautiful new bible.

It looks beautiful! You should feel good about it, you did a fantastic job. If you're not an artist, I don't know who is! Your Bible is a work of art and you should be proud of your accomplishment. It's so unique, no one will have one like it. I'm sure God is smiling!

Super-cool! Your color choice and persistence really paid off! If you really hate your lettering, you could just paint it out and - after you seal it - you could add custom vinyl letters to the spine (the ones that are in a cool font). But I have to say that I think your own lettering looks tremendous, and I don't really think you should change it!

It's BEAUTIFUL!! I'm so impressed with your results, considering all the struggles you mentioned having. I am an artist, and I painted my first Bible with the same theme you did: galaxy/nebula. I TOTALLY agree with you on it being a challenge, seriously, start to finish! I think I repainted mine 3 different times to get it like I wanted. You did a great job powering through your brush struggles. I did it differently: I had cut up some clean, soft kitchen sponges, then layed down my paint colors with a large, flat artist's brush -- kind of a thick layer -- then I pounced the wet paint with the sponge to get it blended and smoothed. Layer after layer then blend, then add more color. It went like wash, rinse, repeat, lol! I subscribed! Have a great week!

This was awesome! You did a beautiful job! I think it’s kind of cool that you did this for the first time on your bible and didn’t practice before. There’s so much to take from that and it’s special that this lesson is taken with your bible. It’s so reflective of our story and our relationship with God. It’s filled with ups and downs, lots of trial and error, and several emotions lol. It all leads us onward and upward to being with our Heavenly Father at the end of it all. Your journey led you to a beautiful cover and you learned so much a long the way.

Thanks for sharing your process! I relate so well 😜 Whether we call ourselves artists or not (believe me I say the same all the time about not being an artist!) when we create art we are being artistic. This looks absolutely beautiful! I know when I do my own that I can see all the little parts that I imagined differently but sometimes the end product is better because it has a life of its own and allowed us time to play with colour and art materials. I hope that you grow to love this more and more as the year of reading goes on because it is gorgeous, creative, bright, and joyful!

I totally get the idea of the two rows of text and the note taking. I remember my art history book was confusing like that. 🤷
If I may be so bold, that's my wish for you in the new year, that you're nicer to yourself. 💚

I was looking through your videos and enjoyed them immensely. Consider that the ESV is not a new version. I remember when this came out and knew some of the people who had a hand in its making. There are over 64,000 words omitted from it because it is basically the Revised Standard Version, which was not Revised but basically culled together from various Catholic Bibles at the time. :-) We are being misled by publishing companies who frankly want our hard-earned money. :-) I John 5:7-8 for instance?

The only critique I have of this video is how much you critique yourself! Girl, this Bible is PERFECT. The galaxy is full of imperfections so your galaxy fits right in...though I will say I don't see what you see. I think it is perfect. I would actually pay you to make me one, so if you are feeling up to it again send me a message,... I would love a Sam original!!!
