- In this video we install the NEW Grimm Offroad Steel Bumper Winch Plate onto a 2020 Gladiator! The winch plate itself is designed for the factory steel bumper on the JL/JT Rubicon models and it comes in one single easy to bolt-on piece. The Grimm Offroad winch plate is rated for up to 14,000 lbs and accepts most center mounted winches with a standard 10 x 4.5” bolt pattern.
We also install a Warn Zeon 10-S Winch and a Factor 55 fairlead and Flatlink - E winch hook. Included is also DIY instructional on how to safely and correctly spool a new winch rope!
This is a quick and easy install and can easily be done in your driveway with minimal tools but as always LET US KNOW if you have any questions or concerns about your own install! Stay tuned!

Thanks for this! Just in time for my install!
Glad to hear! Let us know if you have any questions!
Same here - just in time! Great video.
Just installed mine. You may want to update the video to advise people to buy 4 longer bolts for the lower pairs of mounting points on the plate. My factory bolts only got less than 1/4 inch grab into the rivet nuts and stripped out. Thankfully there was enough thread left to install a longer bolt and get it torqued to the 40lbs. specified.
We didn't't notice a problem with ours, will check it out. Thanks for saying something.
You are talking about the bolts that go into the skid plate mount?
@@jefftaylor8285 Yes, my factory bolts were a bit short to get a proper grip for 40lbs.
We just had the same issue Wade. My factory bolts did the same thing.
@@MrRjezonie hope you were able to get longer ones at the auto store. Make sure to buy the same grade.
So much easier than the warn winch plate by a 1000%.
May I ask what makes this better than the Warn winch plate? Looking at what I should get for my OEM Steel Bumper and do we have to trim part of the mount like in this video. Thanks
@@pochouhwang Quality wise, they're both good. Labor wise, the Grimm plate has less parts, which makes this an easier install.
I just bought the Grimm plate and warn winch, pretty excited to get them. I did just notice though...no license plate....in my state we have to hav e a front plate. Is there a brack that would work with this setup you could recommend?
*bracket
There are a couple different solutions:

Did you end up using the 2 spacer plates that Grimm provided to go between the bumper and frame??
Yes, we did. Somehow that bit ended up on the cutting room floor.
rope protection sleeve did you not put it on or did it end up on the cutting room floor too??
We put it on and you're right.... cutting room floor.
Great video as always! Only comment is music could be a little more 'background'.
I ran it slow-mo during bumper reinstall and even paused it, the spacers between the frame horns and bumper were not in place as you tightened...I do not want to use the spacers as the bumper sticks out too far as it is, what might not fit properly if you do not install the spacers? Is this something that just varies from Jeep to Jeep due to varying tolerances? Thanks!
Yes, you really do need to run the spacers. Those are only a 1/4", that's not much at all.
Did you put the steel skid plate back on, if so did the holes line up?
Yes, all the holes line up. No mods needed.
Yeah everything lined up and you need the plate to take up the extra space between the frame and plate.as well as covering the end of the frame.
I bought this same set from you guys! Is it truly necessary to grind off part of the winch plate for the 10s winch? I’d like to avoid that
This is only for the Zeon winches.
You'll have to give it a try, some people say they've been able to do it without grinding.
Didn't have to grind mine...10S
I just installed my mount and Warn 10S winch. How did you get the nuts on the inside lower bumper studs? Those are the last part I need to do to finish it.
If you don't have the winch perfectly centered, they can be a bear to get to.
Loosen the winch mounting bolts, slide it to one side, tighten the opposite side and then repeat.
@@northridgenation Thanks will give that a try.
Does this fit the EcoDiesel version? I know the frames are slightly different on the Eco’s.
Yes, it fits the EcoDiesel too.
I am using an aftermarket skid plate that requires the removal of the factory skid plate brackets. Would it be ok to use large flat washers in their place?
That should work!
I noticed you didn’t torque down the winch plate bolts to the frame. You only snugged them. Do they need to be torqued down? Great video by the way, getting ready to install mine next weekend.
That is correct, you do need to torque them down.
Grimm torque spec is 50 ft-lbs.
Just double check your length on the factory bolts make sure they are long enough to go all the way through the nut in the frame.
@@WeTheJeeples , I see that. I am trying to install it now. What size bolts do I need to get??
@@davesiarkowski8491 10m 1.5 x 40mm I believe, make sure it is the same spec stamped on the head of the bolt. I got mine at O'Reilly. They have the flanged bolts
@@WeTheJeeples Did you end up using the 2 spacer plates that Grimm provided to go between the bumper and frame?
lol, yeah because magic marker makes a great rust inhibitor
Those are paint pens.
@@northridgenation oh, oops. I just ordered the VR for my JT but the Grimm was out of stock for 30 days? I ordered the Warn plate instead.
Hi guys Im doing a warn winch and don't want to grind.
Which winch are you doing?
The Zeon, you pretty much have to grind with any bumper that sits the winch between the frame rails.
The VR EVO will often fit without any grinding.
@@northridgenation thanks for getting back. Yes I was going to do the Zeon platinum. I understand manufacturing tolerances probably make a difference on the chassis itself. If that’s the case, then I’m going to end up grinding the Zion, not the chassis. I’ll order the plate from you guys. Thank you.
Why the damn music???????
DO NOT PULL OF THE FENDER THE WAY THEY SHOW! Snaps every single clip that holds the fender on!!!!
Fair video - would have been GREAT if you didn't think you needed to play an annoying HEAVY drum beat throughout the entire video just to test our ability to concentrate on what was important.
