    Hi Falek
    Great clip
    Please if you can help me with next one;
    I bought Audi A6,2009 2.0fsi 170hp here in Kuwait. When put in Sport drive, it kind a jerk it’s smooth like in normal D. Car has 119k km.
    Im pretty sure that previous owner didn’t change transmission oil and filter.
    Here are temperatures are nuts 9 months during year. Any advice would be appreciated. Is it time for oil change or it is something more serious!?
    Tnx a lot

    A year and a half ago I purchased a 2007 Audi A6Q Avant 3.2L with 139K Miles, I was told that the Transmission had been serviced at 85K. The 6 Speed ZF Transmission never failed but Shifts didn't always feel great. Recently at 165 K Miles I performed a Drain and Refill using Schaeffer's All-Trans ATF (my favorite ATF / under 1 and a half Gallons required for a Drain and Fill), the improved Shift Quality is Amazing. I will Probably do it again within the next 12 Months. BTW, I used a 2 Gallon Chemical Sprayer (Modified) to Pump the Fluid in from below and a Hand Held Temperature Device to set the Fill Level at 33°C. Hello Felek, thanks for the video. I have the 8-speed tip on a A5 2015, 72,000km. My question is if I can simply drain and fill (through) the fill hole a few times and call it done, I.e. not change the filter nor drop the pan. Q1) Was there a lot of oil that came out initially through the drain plug? How much do you think? Q2) If I do it properly 2 or 3 times at an interval of 3,000-4,000km , I would assume the fluid would be changed sufficiently, no? Thoughts ?

    • @FelekPL
      @FelekPL  5 років тому

      Thanks for watching. I don't think it makes much sense to flush the fluids without replacing filter. After all that's where all the junk collects + magnets. I think it was like 3 liters of oil that drained out before I removed the pan. Also, if you decide to remove the pan, doing it once every 40k miles or so is sufficient... at least that's what I was told.

      The reason the dealer said to not do it is because Audi claims the fluid is lifetime, whereas ZF says you need to change it every 80K (on a stock vehicle). Kind of puts audi owners in a bad position, but you will not do any damage to the Transmission as long as you do it correctly. It can only help.

    • @kckrol85

    • @talonpilot
      @talonpilot 2 роки тому +1

      For the ‘average’ car user, “LIFETIME” means 80-100k miles. Because of that, the fluid is rated as “lifetime” and shouldn’t need to be changed during the first owner’s use….aka, for the lifetime of the car. Since we ‘fans’ of these cars drive them well past the 80-100k, this service should be done. As someone else said, it can’t hurt, only improve.

    I did exact same transmission oil and filter change job for same year A7 but for TDI engine. I also filled oil your way. But one question and concern. After leveling the car, how many quarts you were able to put before it started spilling? I just finished this job and haven't started the car yet nor until I will feel comfortable. So far my car took almost 2.75 quarts and started spilling. Did same happened with you? And after starting and warming up the car, how much more it took?

    you should stress the point that the fill level is a 'RUNNING' level at ~30c. audi suggests you leave the car in park with engine running and as the temp reaches 30C then do your final top off. the oil heats up very quickly so audi have given room for maneuver especially in hot countries. so if its warmer than 30c put a little extra in etc. common sense approach.

      @@Alexandre000444 After the initial fill, I put the plug in (without really tightening it in), started the engine, applied e-brake and pressed brake pedal in, shifted few times to D and R and then put it to P, let the fluid warm up to 30C and then topped it off while the engine was running and the car was in P. How long was this in real life? Time lapse it was 25 minutes. How much was all the fluids, filter, new bolts? Not to mention the aggravation of mess, supporting the transmission and crawling around under the vehicle.
    I would tend to disagree on reusing the gasket. If the new filter comes with one supplied I say use the new one. Is it a rubber/silicon gasket? Meaning no RTV used?
    What mileage was on the transmission when your replaces fluid and filter?
    Bad for Audi to design so much extra work to remove the pan......but Kudos.....to at least having a replaceable filter and not totally sealed transmission.
    Did rolling the vehicle on the ramps give you the working room for most of the project....minus the fluid filling.
    Just to clarify this is the ZF 8 speed transmission right? that seems to be a popular transmission used by a variety of vehicles in the modern era.

      Lots of questions. This took like 5 hrs , recording vid added quite a bit of time. Don't remember the price of the filter any more. Fluid was $150 and bolts were few bucks. The new gasket looked like crap and old one looked solid and clean. Car had 43k miles. Ramps give me enough room for the most projects, but at the same time it would be nice to have a lift. you would have to change the oil again in reality being the easiest way. the filter change is what takes the time. the oil can be changed easily in 20mins if you have a ramp or inspection pit. the rest of the oil is caught up in the pump and torque converter.

    Hey Felek
    How do you lift and put your A6 on jack stands? As far as I can tell the jacking point is the same as the lifting point.

    • @FelekPL
      @FelekPL  5 років тому +1

      I think it is the same. Here I lifted on lift point and slid ramp under wheel. Previously I lifted next to lift point (more towards rear of the car), far enough to slide in jack stand to where it should be. You should be able to lift on lower control arm too. Again, this is for quick lift to put jack under

    • @FelekPL
      @FelekPL  5 років тому +1

      Actually, if you lift the car on the rear lift point, it raises whole side and you can slide in jack stand under front lift point

    • @mcs6979

      @@FelekPL do you mean the lift points on either side of the car or are there front and rear central lift points?

    • @FelekPL

      @@mcs6979 I don't know about central lift points as the whole front underneath is covered by covers. I meant the side lift points. Using rear side lift point you can slide in jack stand under front side lift point.
