I love when you focus on the Part No. of the PCB and when you show us the substitute parts in your plastic box with the information to purchase them. Excellent repair. I could even see the small crack in the body of that ceramic capacitor. Sincere congratulations. Thank you very much Sir for your time and sharing. All the best.
every time I fix stuff, I like to come and look at you and just enjoy your videos soooo much! they are very relaxing, Thanks for making them and taking the time and effort to post them up, Much appreciated!
It turned out that I was sent the wrong console. The seller did offer to accept the return but I decided to just try and fix it. At least it worked out. Thanks for stopping by!
I had a same fault last week with one PS5 unite. Its amazing how many PS5's are dying on faulty cap issues. I don't remember PS4 or PS3 with this sorts of problems overall. Great repair as always.
If we're honest, it's not that they're disproportionately dying of bad caps (although their caps are junk)... It's that no-power ps5s and hdmi port swap videos make safer ebay/marketplace purchases and better UA-cam content than some other fixes. In fairness to Mr. Merc, his videos are some of the best on UA-cam right now and his work on showing, diagnosing, and fixing power supplies is what more youtubers should be doing. But there's just a bit of selection bias here at play.
It does seem that PS5s die by ceramic caps more frequently than previous consoles. That happens sometimes when you go with the lowest bidder for parts. Thank you!
I do seek out no power consoles. I find they are usually easier to repair. I am repairing them mostly for the fun and profit. Making content is secondary for me.
Another job well done sir. Always a pleasure. Watch out for that Flir camera offset. I tend to place a finger down just like you did to confirm location. That camera can be deceiving with the bad offset. Oh and just an update. I fixed that ADP-400FR I was working on. Thanks for the tips. :)
@ToltecMerc i have that turned off too but i still feel everything does not line up when cross referencing , looking with the naked eye. Maybe i am just cross eyed for staying at the workbench too many hrs in the day. Haha :)
Finally a bad cap again. I'm under the impression that retimers and dialogs fail more often than random caps lately, or is that biased because no one uploads bad cpas videos anymore, because they're not entertaining? Always love to watch your videos. No dumb poking around, but real fault finding. PS: Maybe you (too) can try to persuade JDT's Joey into PSU repairs? ;) Maybe even (virtually) holding his hand on the first (few)?
No post or no power IS no video...😋 So the sellers description was technically correct even though it was a bit light on the real fault! Another interesting repair though.
Love your videos! Been waiting for you to make some more. By any chance, did you catch the video that Joey from Joey does tech when (for some strange reason) he was able to put a digital chip on a disc version and the disc drive still worked? I think everyone that knows these consoles and the fact that shouldn’t be possible are still confused, lol
Did you have PA-1401-JT3 (PS5 PSU) on your bench? Apparently it is genuine model, made by LITEON. I'm asking because I have one and I'm struggling to find one component. It's marked A012M (SOT-23).

I'm glad you like the videos. I do try to show details in my videos.

That's very kind of you. I'm glad you find them relaxing. I wish you all the best in your repairs!
Jeez, the people with their descriptions. Good job, as always 👍

Fastest fault find & fix, nice! Taking the darn thing apart takes longer than fixing the actual issue 😂
You are welcome! It does have a lot of screws!
When a faulty HDMI port becomes a shorted capcitor. Thank you for the video.
At least it turned out to be pretty simple. You are welcome!
Always a pleasure seeing your work my friend! Amazing how a simple cap can bring the whole thing down. Thanks as always for the upload!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoy it. Those caps have killed many a device.

I have the overlay turned off so I don't get the double image. I'm glad you got the power supply working.
@ToltecMerc i have that turned off too but i still feel everything does not line up when cross referencing , looking with the naked eye. Maybe i am just cross eyed for staying at the workbench too many hrs in the day. Haha :)
It was quick and practical, I already changed the two ceramic capacitors to ensure a good job
I did go ahead and change both of them on the USB switches.
Thank you for the video, and for your time. Hava a Great Week.

Nice fix. You have to like the easy ones.
It was a nice easy one but I really don't know that when I start recording.
great video like always and thank you for the help!!!!
Thank you. You are quite welcome!
Spoiler: Great Repair and Video! Thank you.
Thank you so much!

I was shipped the wrong console. The seller offered to take it back but I decided to move forward with the repair.
Good one 👍
Thank You!
Easy fix 🎉 congratulations 😄
Thank you!

Nice! Easy pizza 🍕😁
Very easy!
Had the same problem with a customer system for days ago. Same cap
Yeah I have seen a few of them myself which is why I keep those caps in stock.
it feels like its been far too long since your last video!
It has been a while. I do have to work sometimes. This is my hobby.
Yay another video (although it seems there is no video...see what I did there? HA!)
Ha! Turns out the seller shipped me the wrong console. I decided to just keep it. Thanks for watching!
Can I please send you my PS5 for repair? You’re my only chance at gaming again
I will happily pay shipping and parts/labor 🙏🏻❤

I'd take a shorted capacitor anyday rather than a hdmi replacement!
True. I don't usually show HDMI replacements. Everyone has seen those by now.
First!
You are indeed! Well done!
@ btw I have a power supply that is stumping me…how could I send that to you?
