The thing is that even though many educated people (and officials) know what is grammatically right, yet they knowingly or unknowingly tend to use, as a common practice, many expressions wrongly. There are reasons for this : One - People don't like to be corrected and they use language out of convention. If you say to somebody on the face that 'you should not say, 'daivorce' but 'divorce' which is the correct and only pronunciation, they would object by saying (again wrongly) that, it is ok to pronounce 'daivorce' because the word 'direct' can be pronounced as both 'direct' and 'dairect'. But they forget that some words have dual pronunciations and some don't. 'Divorce' has only one pronunciation. People don't bother or are not taught to look up dictionary for the pronunciation part. Even English teachers mispronounce many common words. e.g, 'of' which is pronounced as 'ov' not 'off', as in Ten o' clock. Divorce is the most commonly mispronounced one. Two - Unlike affluent western countries, who are keen on expanding their knowledge and bringing perfection in their lives, our aim in life is to get a certificate so that we can secure a job. Expanding knowledge and understanding life through knowledge is not our priority. Certificates don't matter much here. Most of us get jobs which has nothing to do with the subject of our study. Unfortunately learning any subject through a different language than our mother tongue itself is a wrong step. (Corrections are welcome!)

A big Salute to ശ്രീ ലേഖ Ma'am IPS. യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ NSS General Secretary യുടെ പദവി "NSS മാടമ്പി തമ്പുരാൻ" എന്നാക്കണം. ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ തമ്പുരാനെ 2011-ൽ എന്റെ മകന് സ്കൂൾ admission സംബന്ധിച്ച് ഞാന്‍ പോയി കണ്ടിരുന്നു. സംസാരിക്കാന്‍ അറിയാത്ത അഹങ്കാരത്തിന്റെ പ്രതീകം. പിന്നെ Village Office- ന്റെ കാര്യം... 1993-ൽ ഞാനും ഭാര്യാ സഹോദരനും കൂടി 40 സെന്റ് സ്ഥലം തിരുവനന്തപുരം വെമ്പായം വില്ലേജിൽ വാങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ചുറ്റുമതില്‍ കെട്ടി വര്‍ഷാ വര്‍ഷം കരവും അടച്ചു കൈവശം വച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂമി 2023- ല്‍ കരം അടയ്ക്കുമ്പോള്‍ 28 സെന്റ് ആയി മാറി. വില്ലേജ് ഓഫീസില്‍ പോയി വിവരം പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ ഞങ്ങൾ അല്ല നേരത്തെ ഇരുന്നവര്‍ ആരോ ചെയ്ത തെറ്റാണ്‌, ശരിയാക്കാൻ വലിയ പ്രയാസം ആണ് എന്നാണ് മറുപടി. കൈക്കൂലി ചോദിക്കാതെ തന്നെ പൈസയും ആയി നമ്മള്‍ പുറകെ ചെല്ലും...അതിനുള്ള trick. Strange. My wife had an identical experience, not NSS but another private management. However, she stood firm and the management had to capitulate. In less than a year she cleared the UPSC test and quit to join an AIS. Makes me wonder whether you two are soul sisters. Incidentally, she too has a Masters in English Language and Literature.

Dear Ma'am, Thank you Ma'am for your experience sharing videos These incidents (village office and NSS/SN) are relatable to my experiences. The difference from you is that I didn't respond on these injustices. May be because of inferiority complex, lack of supporting people, money etc... In 2004, I went alone to the village office for an income certificate for fee deduction and I was eligible for that since my parents were daily wagers/coolie workers lived with my old grandparents. That officer (still remember his face) made me to go there for more than 3 times and he made me to cry for getting that, I didn't even know he was expecting bribe for that... In 2019 - till date, I am facing the injustice in getting a job, even if I have a Ph.D. from IIT and number of publications. These so called "സമുദായ ഉന്നമന സംഘടനകൾ" not even considering your application, they know who are able to give 60-80lakhs in to their dirty pockets and also have high level recommendation from politics.. In most cases, they decide who are willing to give maximum donation for that post, and interviews are " പ്രഹസനം". As you said they don't bother you are Nair or whatever... Fed-up with this system of injustice. Thank you

മാഡം പറഞ്ഞത് വളരെ വളരെ ശരിയാണ്.എനിക്കും ഇതേ അനുഭവം ഉണ്ട്. ഞാൻ 1989ൽ Mtech REC CLT യിൽ നിന്നും പാസ്സ് ആയ ആളാണ്..2 പ്രാവശ്യം NSS HEAD OFFICE PALAKKAD ENGG COLLEGE ൽ LECTURERPOST ന്റെ INTERVEW നു പോയ ആളാണ്. ഞാൻ നഴ്സറി മുതൽ 10 ക്ലാസ്സ്‌ വരെ PERUNNA NSS സ്കൂൾ ൽ പഠി ച്ച ആളുമാണ്.എന്റെ ബിയോഡേറ്റ കണ്ടിട്ട് ENGG കോളേജ് principal തന്നെ എന്റെ ഫ്രണ്ട് അവിടുത്തെ തന്നെ മറ്റൊരു ടീച്ചർ നോട് എനിക്കാണ് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ merritt എന്നു പറയുക കൂടി ചെയ്തു. എന്റെ ഫാമിലി യെ പറ്റി നല്ലവണ്ണം അറിയാവുന്നതു കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ ഡോനെഷൻ കൊടുക്കാൻ പറ്റില്ല എന്നത് കൊണ്ടും 24 പേരുടെ ലിസ്റ്റ് ൽ എന്റെ നെയിം ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. മാഡം പറഞ്ഞത് പോലെ എന്റെ അച്ഛനും കർ കശക്കാരനായിരുന്നു.. ശ്രീരാമമേനോൻ സർ നെ എനിക്ക് നല്ലവണ്ണം അറിയാം. സർ ന്റെ വൈഫ്‌ എന്റെ ടീച്ചർ ആണ്. ഒരുപക്ഷെ ഞാനും കേസ് നു പോയെങ്കിലോ എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചാകാം എന്റെ പേര് ലിസ്റ്റിൽ പെടുത്താഞ്ഞത്. അതുകൊണ്ട് എനിക്ക് ഒരുകുഴപ്പവും ഉണ്ടായില്ല. കേരളത്തിന്‌ വെളിയിലും അകത്തും വിവിധ കോളേജ് കളിൽ 9 years പഠി പ്പിച്ച ശേഷം KSEBYIL EXE ENGR ആയി ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നു. MARCH31 നു RETIREMENT ആണ്. NSS ആയാലും SNDP ആയാലും ഇങ്ങനെ യുള്ള അപ്പോയ്ന്റ്മെന്റ് മൂലം നമ്മുടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസമേഖല തന്നെ വളരെ മോശമായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. മാഡം ഈ അനുഭവം പങ്കു വച്ചത് മൂലം എന്റെ അനുഭവം എനിക്കും എഴുതാൻ സാധിച്ചു. മാഡത്തിനു എല്ലാ ഭാവുകങ്ങളും നേരുന്നു.

I am very inspired to hear your experience madam. I am a person who really hate the working of Karayogams. It is required to pay an amount yearly for a long listed illogical activities. I have never seen Karayogam helping a family who doesn't pay for them. I am a student at Tata Institute Of Social Sciences. I study with my scholarship amounts received for Graduating with 1st rank from kerala university. We are living in a rented house with lot of debts. For my family even100/- is of great value. Last month we received a letter from Karayogam stating that if we don't pay the amount debt at Karayogam they will reject our membership. My father wrote a letter stating that we are not in a situation to pay or present our issues in the Karayogam committe they rejected the same...One of the Karayogam leaders came to my home and said me that you are a girl for your marriage Karayogam is necessary...😄.. If someone of your family is dead.... Members of Karayogam will not be present for the funeral.... So karayogam is very necessary 😄.....I don't understand really what and how... Madam
But SNDP at least do something for their community unlike this selfish organization led by selfish incompetent people who uses nss as their bargaining tool

it shows that she was brave to reject that job offer by paying the bribe. If required she could pay in installments from her salary, but chose not to accept that . Secondly after getting IPS she openly told about this incident at the college. Even politicians also like to keep good relation with these community leaders. I think upsc interview board must have identified these qualities in her for selecting her for IPS. Those days there was no coaching classes and very few people from Kerala used to crack ias ips every year.

The thing is that even though many educated people (and officials) know what is grammatically right, yet they knowingly or unknowingly tend to use, as a common practice, many expressions wrongly. There are reasons for this : One - People don't like to be corrected and they use language out of convention. If you say to somebody on the face that 'you should not say, 'daivorce' but 'divorce' which is the correct and only pronunciation, they would object by saying (again wrongly) that, it is ok to pronounce 'daivorce' because the word 'direct' can be pronounced as both 'direct' and 'dairect'. But they forget that some words have dual pronunciations and some don't. 'Divorce' has only one pronunciation. People don't bother or are not taught to look up dictionary for the pronunciation part. Even English teachers mispronounce many common words. e.g, 'of' which is pronounced as 'ov' not 'off', as in Ten o' clock. Divorce is the most commonly mispronounced one. Two - Unlike affluent western countries, who are keen on expanding their knowledge and bringing perfection in their lives, our aim in life is to get a certificate so that we can secure a job. Expanding knowledge and understanding life through knowledge is not our priority. Certificates don't matter much here. Most of us get jobs which has nothing to do with the subject of our study. Unfortunately learning any subject through a different language than our mother tongue itself is a wrong step. (Corrections are welcome!)

യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ NSS General Secretary യുടെ പദവി "NSS മാടമ്പി തമ്പുരാൻ" എന്നാക്കണം. ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ തമ്പുരാനെ 2011-ൽ എന്റെ മകന് സ്കൂൾ admission സംബന്ധിച്ച് ഞാന്‍ പോയി കണ്ടിരുന്നു. സംസാരിക്കാന്‍ അറിയാത്ത അഹങ്കാരത്തിന്റെ പ്രതീകം.
പിന്നെ Village Office- ന്റെ കാര്യം... 1993-ൽ ഞാനും ഭാര്യാ സഹോദരനും കൂടി 40 സെന്റ് സ്ഥലം തിരുവനന്തപുരം വെമ്പായം വില്ലേജിൽ വാങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ചുറ്റുമതില്‍ കെട്ടി വര്‍ഷാ വര്‍ഷം കരവും അടച്ചു കൈവശം വച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂമി 2023- ല്‍ കരം അടയ്ക്കുമ്പോള്‍ 28 സെന്റ് ആയി മാറി. വില്ലേജ് ഓഫീസില്‍ പോയി വിവരം പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ ഞങ്ങൾ അല്ല നേരത്തെ ഇരുന്നവര്‍ ആരോ ചെയ്ത തെറ്റാണ്‌, ശരിയാക്കാൻ വലിയ പ്രയാസം ആണ് എന്നാണ് മറുപടി. കൈക്കൂലി ചോദിക്കാതെ തന്നെ പൈസയും ആയി നമ്മള്‍ പുറകെ ചെല്ലും...അതിനുള്ള trick. 'മറിമായം' 'ല്‍ ഇതേപോലെ ഒരു episode കാണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
അതുപോലെ എന്റെ വസ്തു മറ്റാരുടെയോ പേരില്‍ മാറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ മിച്ചഭൂമി ആയി മാറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്ത് തന്നെ ആയാലും വയസ്സായ കാലത്ത് ഓഫീസുകള്‍ കയറി ഇറങ്ങേണ്ട ഗതികേട് ആയി..

Strange. My wife had an identical experience, not NSS but another private management. However, she stood firm and the management had to capitulate. In less than a year she cleared the UPSC test and quit to join an AIS. Makes me wonder whether you two are soul sisters. Incidentally, she too has a Masters in English Language and Literature.

These incidents (village office and NSS/SN) are relatable to my experiences. The difference from you is that I didn't respond on these injustices. May be because of inferiority complex, lack of supporting people, money etc...
In 2004, I went alone to the village office for an income certificate for fee deduction and I was eligible for that since my parents were daily wagers/coolie workers lived with my old grandparents. That officer (still remember his face) made me to go there for more than 3 times and he made me to cry for getting that, I didn't even know he was expecting bribe for that...
In 2019 - till date, I am facing the injustice in getting a job, even if I have a Ph.D. from IIT and number of publications. These so called "സമുദായ ഉന്നമന സംഘടനകൾ" not even considering your application, they know who are able to give 60-80lakhs in to their dirty pockets and also have high level recommendation from politics.. In most cases, they decide who are willing to give maximum donation for that post, and interviews are " പ്രഹസനം". As you said they don't bother you are Nair or whatever...
Fed-up with this system of injustice.

മാഡം പറഞ്ഞത് വളരെ വളരെ ശരിയാണ്.എനിക്കും ഇതേ അനുഭവം ഉണ്ട്. ഞാൻ 1989ൽ Mtech REC CLT യിൽ നിന്നും പാസ്സ് ആയ ആളാണ്..2 പ്രാവശ്യം NSS HEAD OFFICE PALAKKAD ENGG COLLEGE ൽ LECTURERPOST ന്റെ INTERVEW നു പോയ ആളാണ്. ഞാൻ നഴ്സറി മുതൽ 10 ക്ലാസ്സ്‌ വരെ PERUNNA NSS സ്കൂൾ ൽ പഠി ച്ച ആളുമാണ്.എന്റെ ബിയോഡേറ്റ കണ്ടിട്ട് ENGG കോളേജ് principal തന്നെ എന്റെ ഫ്രണ്ട് അവിടുത്തെ തന്നെ മറ്റൊരു ടീച്ചർ നോട് എനിക്കാണ് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ merritt എന്നു പറയുക കൂടി ചെയ്തു. എന്റെ ഫാമിലി യെ പറ്റി നല്ലവണ്ണം അറിയാവുന്നതു കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ ഡോനെഷൻ കൊടുക്കാൻ പറ്റില്ല എന്നത് കൊണ്ടും 24 പേരുടെ ലിസ്റ്റ് ൽ എന്റെ നെയിം ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. മാഡം പറഞ്ഞത് പോലെ എന്റെ അച്ഛനും കർ കശക്കാരനായിരുന്നു.. ശ്രീരാമമേനോൻ സർ നെ എനിക്ക് നല്ലവണ്ണം അറിയാം. സർ ന്റെ വൈഫ്‌ എന്റെ ടീച്ചർ ആണ്. ഒരുപക്ഷെ ഞാനും കേസ് നു പോയെങ്കിലോ എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചാകാം എന്റെ പേര് ലിസ്റ്റിൽ പെടുത്താഞ്ഞത്. അതുകൊണ്ട് എനിക്ക് ഒരുകുഴപ്പവും ഉണ്ടായില്ല. കേരളത്തിന്‌ വെളിയിലും അകത്തും വിവിധ കോളേജ് കളിൽ 9 years പഠി പ്പിച്ച ശേഷം KSEBYIL EXE ENGR ആയി ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നു. MARCH31 നു RETIREMENT ആണ്. NSS ആയാലും SNDP ആയാലും ഇങ്ങനെ യുള്ള അപ്പോയ്ന്റ്മെന്റ് മൂലം നമ്മുടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസമേഖല തന്നെ വളരെ മോശമായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. മാഡം ഈ അനുഭവം പങ്കു വച്ചത് മൂലം എന്റെ അനുഭവം എനിക്കും എഴുതാൻ സാധിച്ചു. മാഡത്തിനു എല്ലാ ഭാവുകങ്ങളും നേരുന്നു.

I am very inspired to hear your experience madam. I am a person who really hate the working of Karayogams. It is required to pay an amount yearly for a long listed illogical activities. I have never seen Karayogam helping a family who doesn't pay for them. I am a student at Tata Institute Of Social Sciences. I study with my scholarship amounts received for Graduating with 1st rank from kerala university. We are living in a rented house with lot of debts. For my family even100/- is of great value. Last month we received a letter from Karayogam stating that if we don't pay the amount debt at Karayogam they will reject our membership. My father wrote a letter stating that we are not in a situation to pay or present our issues in the Karayogam committe they rejected the same...One of the Karayogam leaders came to my home and said me that you are a girl for your marriage Karayogam is necessary...😄.. If someone of your family is dead.... Members of Karayogam will not be present for the funeral.... So karayogam is very necessary 😄.....I don't understand really what and how... Madam

എല്ലാ രാഷ്ട്രീയ പാർട്ടികളും മൗനം പാലിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വിഷയമാണ് എയ്ഡഡ് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലെ നിയമനം. ഗവൺമെൻറ് ഖജനാവിൽ നിന്നും ശമ്പളം നൽകുകയും എന്നാൽ നിയമനത്തിന് സമുദായ പ്രമാണിമാർ ലക്ഷങ്ങളും കോടികളും വാങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന നീതി നിഷേധം ഇന്നും തുടർന്നു പോരുന്നു എന്ന ഭീകര യാഥാർത്ഥ്യം ഇനിയും പൊതുജനങ്ങൾ ചർച്ച ചെയ്യണം ,ശ്രീലേഖാ മാഡത്തെപോലൊരാൾ സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തിയ ഈ ദുരനുഭവത്തെ ഇനിയും ചർച്ചചെയ്തില്ലെങ്കിൽ നമ്മളൊക്കെ പൗരൻമാരല്ല, വെറും പ്രജകൾ മാത്രമാണ്.

അധികാരത്തിന്റെ സുഖ സൗകര്യങ്ങളനുഭവിച്ച് രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതാക്കൻമാരുടെ റാൻമൂളികളായിരുന്ന് മംഗളകരമായി സർവ്വീസ് പൂർത്തിയാക്കുകയും വിരമിച്ച ശേഷം ' ഉദ്ദിഷ്ട കാര്യത്തിന് ഉപകാര സ്മരണ' എന്നരുപത്തിൽ മറ്റെന്തെങ്കിലും സ്ഥാനവും സ്വീകരിച്ച് കാലം കഴിക്കേണ്ടവരല്ലെന്നും.

it shows that she was brave to reject that job offer by paying the bribe. If required she could pay in installments from her salary, but chose not to accept that . Secondly after getting IPS she openly told about this incident at the college. Even politicians also like to keep good relation with these community leaders. I think upsc interview board must have identified these qualities in her for selecting her for IPS. Those days there was no coaching classes and very few people from Kerala used to crack ias ips every year.
Yes, true, there were no coaching centres then. But UPSC didn't know about this incident.
