എല്ലാ ഓഫീസുകളിലും പുരുഷമേധാവിത്വമില്ല. അന്തസ്സുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാർ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഓഫീസിൽ സ്ത്രീൾ ബഹുമാനിക്കപ്പെടും. 36 വർഷങ്ങൾ ഞാൻ കേന്ദ്രഗവണ്മെന്റ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായിരുന്നു. എന്റെ എല്ലാ ഓഫീസുകളിലും സ്ത്രീപുരുഷൻമാർ വളരെ നല്ല കൂട്ടുകാരായിരുന്നു. സ്ത്രീകൾക്കു പുരുഷൻമാർ ഒരുപാട് സഹായങ്ങൾ ചെയ്തു കൊടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. എല്ലാവരും സഹോദരീസഹോദരൻമാരായി ട്ടാണ് ജീവിച്ചത്. തറവാട്ടിൽ പിറന്നവർക്കു മാത്രമേ അതിനു സാധിക്കുകയുള്ളു.DGP യും ഒരിക്കൽ ഇറങ്ങി പോകേണ്ടവനാണ്. അത് അയാൾ ഓർക്കണമായിരുന്നു. തൊപ്പി പോയാൽ പിന്നെ പട്ടിയുടെ സ്ഥാനം പോലുമില്ല.

ശ്രീലേഖ രാജി വച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ പോലീസ് സേനക്ക് നഷ്ടമൊന്നുമില്ല. ശ്രീലേഖ അന്വേഷിച്ച കേസ്സുകളിൽ പലതും തെളിയിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല. പോലിസിൽ നിന്നും ആരു പോയാലും പ്രത്യേകിച്ചു ഒന്നും സംഭവിക്കുകയില്ല. വേഷത്തിന്റെ പേരിൽ DGP വേദനിപ്പിച്ചപ്പോൾ കോടതിയെ സമീപിക്കാമായിരുന്നു. ഇവനെയൊക്കെ പേടിച്ചു രാജി വയ്ക്കേണ്ട കാര്യമില്ല.

Very sad to hear experience of Madam. When she was SP of Pathanamthitta, we had a very good experience with her. When a DySP under her was supporting some local goonda people and they were harassing our factory workers , she found our complaints genuine , and she immediately called the DySP and spoke to that man very strongly and warned him in front of us . We never had any problems later. I found her very confident and genuine officer. I always admired her as the first lady IPS officer of Kerala . We miss now honest and genuine officers like her in our Police. Political parties in power are degrading the police as an institution. Best wishes to Madam , to continue strongly in life and have more contributions to society with her experiences .🙏

I had a sense of deja vu listening to your travails as AIG 2. I've seen my wife, also an AIS officer( not the top 3 services), undergo identical torment at the hands of seniors and colleagues... just outta spite and on on account of her being a woman. It was terrible cz her anguish was my anguish too and I suffered along with her. Both us heaved a huge sigh of relief when she retired last year. However, the unfairness and injustice of it all rankles still. I empathise with you.

Glad that you could share your first hand experience to the world. I know this is just an example of many of the harassment within the organization that you have faced. Hats off to you to face all of them and prove everyone wrong that they cannot bring you down. It takes a lot of courage and strength. You are a true inspiration for many... It is not just police department right, any organization I am just thinking, what change could have been brought in within the system where anyone facing such issues can do. Based on your experience what do you think or what advise you give to the people in such situations? Isn't there an HR department in the govt organizations?
One has to appreciate the honesty of Srilekha for the forthright manner in which she has brought out her experience as a woman Officer. Unfortunately there are many bigwigs in government departments who are feudalistic in their attitude. This is the main reason why most of our bureaucrats under perform. To my mind there is no reason why an Officer should suffer silently. Honour is important for everyone irrespective of his or her position in the hierarchy and one should not hesitate to assert onrself without being offensive. Those showing contempt for others dignity should not forget ultimately everyone is assessed by the yardstick of their human qualities.
Mam, thank you for persisting and completing the complete duration. It is only because of you that I and many common people can understand the truth (which aligns with what many of us really see in Kerala). So had you resigned, we could not have learnt, connect and undestand many things. Thank you Mam.

How different is the situation now? പല പുരുഷരും ഒരു സ്ത്രീ ഇങ്ങനെ അനുഭവം പറയുമ്പോൾ വിഷമത്തോടെ സഹതാപം കാണിക്കുമെങ്കിലും താൻ ഇതിനൊക്കെ അതീതനാണ് എന്നൊരു തെറ്റിദ്ധാരണ ഉള്ളവരായിരിക്കും. അത് അജ്ഞത കൊണ്ടാണ്. മാഡം സഹിച്ച സാഹചര്യത്തിന്റെ 10% നേരിടുമ്പോഴേക്കും മിക്ക മശുഷ്യരും കളഞ്ഞിട്ടോടും. ഞാനിത് പറയുന്നത് ഈ അവസ്ഥ racismതിന്റെ രൂപത്തിൽ അനുളവിച്ചിട്ട് ആമേരിക്കയിലെ എന്റെ നല്ല ജോലി കളഞ്ഞിട്ട് നാട്ടിലേക്ക് ഓടിയിട്ടുള്ളതുകൊണ്ടാണ്. വളരെ സാമ്യമുള്ള സാഹചര്യം - ഒരേയോരു non-white employee, ഒളിഞ്ഞും തെളിഞ്ഞും കുത്തുവാക്കുകൾ പറയുകയും കൂട്ടത്തിൽ എന്നെ കൂട്ടാതിരിക്കുകയും ഇന്ത്യക്കാരൻ എന്ന നിലയിൽ അപരിഷ്കൃതൻ/unrefined എന്ന നിലയ്ക്കുള്ള മുൻധാരണകൾ ഒക്കെ വച്ചുപുലർത്തുന്ന സഹപ്രവർത്തകർ. ഇങ്ങനെ അപകർഷതാബോധം തോന്നിപ്പിക്കാൻ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഒറ്റപ്പെടുത്തലുകൾ നല്ല മുറിവുണ്ടാക്കും.

Very sad to hear experience of Madam. When she was SP of Pathanamthitta, we had a very good experience with her. When a DySP under her was supporting some local goonda people and they were harassing our factory workers , she found our complaints genuine , and she immediately called the DySP and spoke to that man very strongly and warned him in front of us . We never had any problems later. I found her very confident and genuine officer. I always admired her as the first lady IPS officer of Kerala . We miss now honest and genuine officers like her in our Police. Political parties in power are degrading the police as an institution. Best wishes to Madam , to continue strongly in life and have more contributions to society with her experiences .🙏

I had a sense of deja vu listening to your travails as AIG 2. I've seen my wife, also an AIS officer( not the top 3 services), undergo identical torment at the hands of seniors and colleagues... just outta spite and on on account of her being a woman. It was terrible cz her anguish was my anguish too and I suffered along with her. Both us heaved a huge sigh of relief when she retired last year. However, the unfairness and injustice of it all rankles still. I empathise with you.

It is not just police department right, any organization I am just thinking, what change could have been brought in within the system where anyone facing such issues can do. Based on your experience what do you think or what advise you give to the people in such situations? Isn't there an HR department in the govt organizations?
One has to appreciate the honesty of Srilekha for the forthright manner in which she has brought out her experience as a woman Officer. Unfortunately there are many bigwigs in government departments who are feudalistic in their attitude. This is the main reason why most of our bureaucrats under perform. To my mind there is no reason why an Officer should suffer silently. Honour is important for everyone irrespective of his or her position in the hierarchy and one should not hesitate to assert onrself without being offensive. Those showing contempt for others dignity should not forget ultimately everyone is assessed by the yardstick of their human qualities.
Mam, thank you for persisting and completing the complete duration. It is only because of you that I and many common people can understand the truth (which aligns with what many of us really see in Kerala). So had you resigned, we could not have learnt, connect and undestand many things. Thank you Mam.

ഞാനിത് പറയുന്നത് ഈ അവസ്ഥ racismതിന്റെ രൂപത്തിൽ അനുളവിച്ചിട്ട് ആമേരിക്കയിലെ എന്റെ നല്ല ജോലി കളഞ്ഞിട്ട് നാട്ടിലേക്ക് ഓടിയിട്ടുള്ളതുകൊണ്ടാണ്. വളരെ സാമ്യമുള്ള സാഹചര്യം - ഒരേയോരു non-white employee, ഒളിഞ്ഞും തെളിഞ്ഞും കുത്തുവാക്കുകൾ പറയുകയും കൂട്ടത്തിൽ എന്നെ കൂട്ടാതിരിക്കുകയും ഇന്ത്യക്കാരൻ എന്ന നിലയിൽ അപരിഷ്കൃതൻ/unrefined എന്ന നിലയ്ക്കുള്ള മുൻധാരണകൾ ഒക്കെ വച്ചുപുലർത്തുന്ന സഹപ്രവർത്തകർ. ഇങ്ങനെ അപകർഷതാബോധം തോന്നിപ്പിക്കാൻ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഒറ്റപ്പെടുത്തലുകൾ നല്ല മുറിവുണ്ടാക്കും.
