    Happy to see some love for the 600 tri color. I am rebuilding my 1987 Paramount with it. The original Campy parts are long gone and this was the best I could get my hands on at a reasonable price.

    lovely job Andy :-)
    I'm about to start on my Major Nicholls that I raced on in the 80s. I've sourced a Shimano 600 group (pre tricolour) for it along with some MA40 rims. Just need to get the frame resprayed in its original midnight blue colour now. I say "just"! It'll still take me a couple of months to sort! My late dad bought me the frame as a 21st birthday present so I want to do it justice.

    Very tutorial, informative and well conveyed...I will start on my grandfather's Hetchins 54cm , grandfather is no longer around but when I look at the bike , he has never left. I will leave the beautiful patina but polish the amazing lug work on the seat stays and chain stays and bottom bracket shell and fork blades.

    Nicely done! I was able to purchase a second hand Trek 520 frame from maybe 2007 for cheap. I raided my dads parts bin and found unused shimano Deore XT rim brakes, a Deore Xt Triple crank set, an XTR front mech, and a deore xt rear mech. All from the 90s. Now I have a sweet touring bike with retro shimano. I love it!

    Curious WHICH App did you use for fiddling about with the Paint Scheme? BOY WOULD I LOVE to use that App to come up with some Paint Schemes of my own. BRILLIANT Paint Scheme Idea of yours, absolute PERFECTION for the Shimano Tri-Color Groupset. Looks like the ACTUAL Shimano 600 TriColor Tribute Bike if Shimano made it themselves! I must say this is your GREATEST Restoration Job to Date!!! ... ALL of which have been PERFECTION. You have a REAL KNACK for bringing these Beautiful Vintage Bikes back to their Original Luster Andy!!!

    Next to the gold arrow group set the 600 tri color is my favorite retro Shimano sets. Nice and clean. Sharp looking with the white frame and decal set. A perfect fit. Cheers. Sorry for the late post. Hope to see more soon.

    Beautiful restoration but must admit I'm pinning for a different bike to be restored just for the novelty value. Maybe something like a folding bike; a Raleigh 20 or maybe a Dawes Kingpin or maybe a Raleigh Chopper or Grifter if you haven't done one already. Maybe a classic 3 speed hub road bike, they used to be a thing. Maybe a slightly older road bike like the old BSA's.

      Thanks for watching...the last restoration was a BMX if you’ve not seen it already. A few have requested more retro MTBs. Watch this space 👍

    I was trying to restore my beat up street bike and used a product that was supposed to smooth out the paint scrapes but all it did was remove the shine from the paint. Wish I'd just spot touched it up like you do because now I have way more work to do to fix itl.

    Lovely build. Even for a Campagnolo man,this works really well. However has to be said,this bike is not too small for you!...prob go for a bit more seat post showing,even for an 80’s build.

    Nice , No clues from the frame number then.? A British thread BB and reynolds tubing hmm . Like the grey lug paint touch.. cannot beat that shimano group.. so durable.. Those new Turbo saddles seem harder than the old ones.. Must be me getting soft or getting used to Charge saddles which I rate quite a bit. ! Yeah good job very nice bike..

    Lovely build, I’m also a fan of that groupset and have been collecting for a build.
    I always wish you would give a few more nerdy details about the bike build... for example you didn’t show or mention the hubs, or whether it was 7 or 8 speed, and what brake calliper bolt arrangement it had etc.
    Maybe you could also give a list in the description ?

    Thanks for all the great content. Your channel inspired me to start my own first restauration project, a Peugeot road bike from '79. I was wondering thouch how much time does it usually take you to finish an entire retsauration project?

    • @BikeItUK
      @BikeItUK  3 роки тому +1

      Honestly it really does matter on the condition of the bike and the work involved. Plus finding the correct parts can also take time. I’d say 2 weeks up to a couple months depending on the project. I just try and enjoy what I’m doing don’t rush and do it to the best of my ability. 👍🚲

    The more I watch your videos the more I like them haha Btw, I recently bought this Peugeot from the early 70s and the crank extractor does not thread in (only like half a turn), is the threading different like the French bb threading? The thread looks clean to me. If it is a different threading I suspect getting hold of an old extractor is going to be extremely difficult

    • @BikeItUK
      @BikeItUK  3 роки тому

      On the Vintage Claud Butler 531 restoration I have a very similar problem with a strong light crank. I used an extractor ruses in the car industry as shown in the video. Someone also posted a link for the correct tool. Hope this helps thanks for watching and your support www.ebay.com/itm/2in1-Stronglight-Specialites-T-A-removal-remover-crankset-Arm-Puller-Tool-NEW-/222325878325?hash=item33c3a7ae35%3Ag%3Ax7oAAOSwol5YwWeB
