It's funny but you know what? You're gonna be tracking and mixing vocals onto a beat. You get to see in real time the difference while music is playing. I'd say that was genius.
Just got mine today it's definitely not what i was expecting(in a good way) it looks like it's made out of thick foam which I thought but it's actually like a super thick egg carton material..it's super sturdy and not too heavy like my previous rockville shield that was ALWAYS weighing my stand down..good pickup I highly recommend if u got the $300 to spend
It’s easier to set up than it’s competition and less weight on your microphone stand so as to not tip over. I’m impressed. I love the fact, that being it’s light weight it can be used inverted from its conventional position.
I like how you mounted the halo on its standalone mic stand without the mic. I have attached the halo and the mic to a single stand before but it can be more cumbersome.

just bought it cus of that review, was skeptical about micscreens, but i think this one sounds pretty good, since i have a small room wich is already treated with rockwool panels and basstraps but i still get some unwanted roomsound from the ceiling corners and i got a big window in that 8qm room so i thought getting hands on this is a good idea in the front the aston halo in the back a treated wall. cant wait till it arrives and hopefully i can finaly concentrate on making music instead of being frustrated cus the raw material sounds trash even tho ive invested over 3k in equipment. thumbs up man good channel anyways keep it up, greetz from germany!

Any DAW will work for rap vocals. It's all about what fits your workflow. I would do some research on different DAWs on UA-cam and you will quickly find out which one will work for you. I hope this helps.
I'm sorry but if you have this bass-mid up when you put the filter, it just means that the filter is resonating and changing the color of the U87. Not sure this is what you want.
I wanted to buy this but i think it won't do the job in totally untreated room. I built a rockswool reflection filter based on simillar shape but covering more area around the mic than aston halo and you definitelly can hear a room with it. It is better idea to spend those money for room treatment first.
Honestly, it will help out even if you didn't have a treated room. A lot of songwriters & producers I know record in there hotel rooms with the Aston Halo. With that being said, a treated room still helps.

Either or honestly. The IsoVox blocks more outside noise and sounds more like a booth. The Halo allows some room noise in. They both get the job done. It's honestly all about what your budget is and what you want your songs to sound like. I hope this helps.

What’s up bro? If you have a booth already, you should be good. I will say this, I have a studiobricks at my bigger studio and I have this at my home studio. This works amazing in my room combined with my London 12 and my Primacoustic stratus cloud.

So shipping the booth isnt an option (it wasnt super quality a purely low budget option). I wont be in my own place for a while so I want to get something that doesnt take up a lot of space. Hey! Thank you. Honestly, I never initiate the pad or the roll off. If there corrections that needs to be made, I fix it in the editing and mixing process with eq’ing and dynamic processing. I hope this helps.
Question...Im living in a stone house with very high ceilings with thick wooden beams running across the A frame ceiling. So! Is it true I should have the Aston Spirit Mic ( for voice acting ) placed as close to the inside of the Halo as possible and if so how can I do that with the Aston Swiftshield / Cradle setup I have as well? Question for anyone with a Bluebird SL Microphone. Do y’all have a problem with the Bluebird being too heavy for the shockmount it came with? Been dealing with it for about a year and a half just haven’t looked into getting a new shockmount.
@@archiebeatz Hey Archie! Updating this so that if anyone else is having similar issues, it can help them out. So I reached out to Blue and they sent me a replacement screw for the shockmount holder. Unfortunately, it didn’t resolve my issue and seemingly made it worse. The mic was still leaning forward! Each screw has a single rubber piece, I took the rubber piece off of my original screw and added it on the new screw, so now I have two rubber pieces on one screw! It seemed to have done the trick too! Now my mic is holding in place with no issues.

People sing in environments with varying reflections and by showing a worst-case scenario it boosts people’s confidence that it will perform in their own environment. It’s not a demo for people who are regularly recording in a hall or church.

It's included. Instead of screwing a shockmount or mic clip on ur actual mic stand like normal u instead screw the halo on it. It's a universal screw size for all mic stands so the halo fits every mic stand. Then ur shockmount or mic clip screws on to the halo itself instead of the actual mic stand. Thts the part he shows in the video & yes it's in the box w/ the halo. The halo is prob the best of these vocal iso options but it still just works OK. I've used it for years & like it but don't love it
Hey Noel. There’s so many great DAWs out there. I use Avid Pro Tools mainly for recording and mixing but now I use Universal Audio Luna about 20% of the time for recording and mixing. I would look at different videos of DAWs like Ableton, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools and others and see which one calls to your creative workflow 🙏🏽
Why can't I achieve satisfactory results with Halo, even though approximately 80% of the room is covered with acoustic foam? I am experiencing boxy sound and an undesired percentage of reverberation from the room.

I totally agree. It’s killing the competition and I trust it with my U87 any day of the week. It’s versatile on different stands as well.
That’s what sells it to me. I had a reflection filter before but it was so heavy it kept toppling the stand and breaking my mics.

so i have a question are you using 1 mic for the recording or are you using multiple mics if so how are you doing that without interference?

People sing in environments with varying reflections and by showing a worst-case scenario it boosts people’s confidence that it will perform in their own environment. It’s not a demo for people who are regularly recording in a hall or church.

That shockmount clip adapter, did that come with the Halo or is that something you have to purchase separately?

It's included. Instead of screwing a shockmount or mic clip on ur actual mic stand like normal u instead screw the halo on it. It's a universal screw size for all mic stands so the halo fits every mic stand. Then ur shockmount or mic clip screws on to the halo itself instead of the actual mic stand. Thts the part he shows in the video & yes it's in the box w/ the halo. The halo is prob the best of these vocal iso options but it still just works OK. I've used it for years & like it but don't love it

What daw would you recommend for recording and mixing vocals
Hey Noel. There’s so many great DAWs out there. I use Avid Pro Tools mainly for recording and mixing but now I use Universal Audio Luna about 20% of the time for recording and mixing. I would look at different videos of DAWs like Ableton, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools and others and see which one calls to your creative workflow 🙏🏽
Why can't I achieve satisfactory results with Halo, even though approximately 80% of the room is covered with acoustic foam? I am experiencing boxy sound and an undesired percentage of reverberation from the room.
