Great catch. I gotta grab me some wake baits. My PB was years ago walking the Surfside Jetties & caught a 26" fat girl on a little Down South Paddletail. I Just got lucky. Then I just got back into fishing again & limited out in 10min on huge Spec's using the Corky Fattie Texas Chicken on the Quintana Jetties. Every cast was a monster! I was culling 17" to 19" Spec's. Then I threw out & just as I was about to pull that Paul Brown out of the clear water? I seen a huge 28"+ Spec come up, swallowed that lure, turned away from me & snap! I guess from catching all those trout my 30lb flouro leader was cut up above the knot because that's right where she snapped it. It was well worth loosing that $10 lure just to see that ambush! It was Amazing. Whether we've been wade fishing from March thru June 31st using the Paul Browns or MirrOdine 3.5", we've been slaughtering them Spec's from Freeport to San Luis Pass. Then my Transmission went out on my truck Waiting on it to get done at the shop, so I can get back out. Looking to buy reasonably priced 2 fishing Kayaks w/ a trailer (trailer not really needed, I can have a friend build me 1) but I'm disabled w/ heart/lung disease & my Son & I want to get into Kayak Fishing. What can I say there won't be many days like that day will be burned into your memory 4 the rest of your days it got me thinking of the best trips I have had in my life thank you for the memories
Tide must have been moving out. Those big girls hanging around that break in the rock jetty catching bait coming out with the tide. Congrats on your dirty thirty.
I was going to head out there this weekend but because of the wind I stayed home and restored 4 kayaks... sold 2. I spent the day today working on my pontoon kayak.
Congratulations on that beauty 🐟 You know after the freeze Ive caught quite a few big mamas around the 24-28in trout and released. Also caught dozens of healthy 18-22in inchers. I dont think the freeze quite affected the trout population down here on spi area but despite that Im still respecting the temporary conservation efforts set up by tpwd. Much respect for you brother 🙏🏼
@@cleanfunfishing Dude! That’s a Great haul! I fished a little down the way from where you were. There’s a gut through the sandbar somewhere in front of the last line of jetties. Not unless it silted in.
Nice! I've only had 2 experiences like this 1st time I lost the trout at the yak and dropped my aluminum net in the water, 2nd time landed the trout and got all my line twisted in damn near everything possible just like you did lol.
Ya, I was in a bind lol. Gotta love braid, when it tangles. But the strength and casting is really good. I'm glad you landed one too man. Thanks for watching!
Nice Bro!!!! Im definetly going to have to invest in some wake baits now. I headed down to Kemah last weekend and got 3 reds. 2 of them were like 12 inches but my third was a 25 inch!
You bet man! 30.15 pressure, wind NE 13mph, outgoing tide, right after a front, during a minor feeding period, on a so called poor day/moon phase. Thanks for watching man!
What wake bait did you catch it on? Pretty sure it wasn’t a 6th sense. How deep was the water? You got me interested in trying this bait out. I used square bills for bass, I need to start trying for redfish and trout. I bought 6th sense and another brand I can’t recall the name but they look weird and aren’t inexpensive. They cost about the same as 6th sense but I can see the craftsmanship in the 6th sense. The other brand I liked that they were smaller.
Congrats! That was a beast! Way to go man. We fished that area back in November with no luck. But your explanation of the sand being cooler than mud makes sense why we didn't do good. Thanks for helping to educate us.
What a heck of a trout my friend. I'll be back that way this weekend hope to fish with you again my brother. Take care and have a blessed week bro. 🙂👍👍👍
Coming down you way from Phoenix in a month. Just a question for you, and yes I know where you are at. Where did you launch from? Not being from there, I don't know very many kayak launch spots. Thanks! By the way, those are some stud trout.
Thanks man! I hope you get on em when you come down this way! I launch right where the jetties start, close to the pier, on the left. There is a cut in the rocks, that is just sand, maybe 10 feet wide, you can drag your kayak through there. Thanks for watching man!!
Congrats on the 30" club and a fish of a lifetime!! Great job releasing those trout in a hurry too. You might submit your catch to The Speckled Truth and become part of the dirty 30 club.

Tide must have been moving out. Those big girls hanging around that break in the rock jetty catching bait coming out with the tide. Congrats on your dirty thirty.
Thank you Mike! The northern wind was blowing hard through the jetty cuts pushing bait through them and the trout were there waiting
Good time fishing 🎣

@@cleanfunfishing I thought your reel was the Shimano TranX
Reel tranx.
What do u use for anchor
Just a mushroom type anchor , about 10 pounds
@@cleanfunfishing ok do do they work ok? I was going to get 1 from academy but i thought maybe i would still drag slowly.
If it's above 13 mph they will drag in sand. Works better in the mud. Its all I have ever used. Works great for me though
I think i am getting 1 ....but even if it drags will it go slower
Definetly slow you down
