    I think YT in general is boring. When everyone is doing the same thing in attempts to be more advertising friendly and gain more money, it becomes monotonous. I wish most people could still be themselves while being advertiser friendly.

      Interesting. I can kind of agree w/some of that. Tho,not everyone needs to just be themselves on here,really. Some ppl just spout ignorance w/no facts when they can talk. & no kind of thought or restriction behind it to create any kind of beneficial advice. Some rules are needed,tbh. However,if ppl want to do something different they can always do there own thing & be happy on their own platform. It just may not last. B/c they may not wont get the same following on their own.

    Girl, I feel you 100%. I started watching yt videos back in 2010. THINGS HAVE CHANGED A LOT. Authenticity and transparency is missing. I hate couples channels, I hate fake pranks, etc. I can't relate to the majority of black yt. Everything is for views. I just miss the old days man. Yt used to be a community where ppl share tips and helped others

      I agree but I think it’s because back then, people weren’t doing UA-cam ‘full time’, it was something that you did on the side.
      Fast forward to 2018 and people have quit their 9-5 jobs/careers and now depend on UA-cam, which unfortunately for us means that influencers focus more on what brings in views/money

    I don’t expect people to come here and tell all of their business but I feel like I’ve been watching people’s content for years and still don’t know them. All we see is you getting beautiful hair, getting sponsorships, traveling to beautiful places. We wanna see a normal/human side too. I feel like some people just get caught up in showing off their wonderful lives and don’t realize how it affects the people watching. I know nobody’s life is perfect but I wanna see that side too! make me feel better about not being able to travel as much, have so much money, and have really nice things.

      I completely understand where you are coming from. With some content sharers you actually get to see their growth. With some they only come off as Im perfect let me show you how to be perfect like me and most of the times it's a false image just a big front and some younger viewers may not understand that. We as viewers just need to use wisdom when taking this content in and support each other In the comments. But to each his own✌🏾

    Many you tubers are beginning to look the same as far as content goes. One thing I appreciate about your channel is your transparency on subjects that many people don’t feel comfortable speaking on i.e mental health, your sex life, relationships with people in your life.. I believe there’s a sellout mentality among the YT community to post comment that will add value to the pocket more than it will on the impact of who they are to the people who look up to them.. that’s my opinion!
    I love you!

    I think for me I just want more honesty from Black UA-cam . I keep seeing these UA-cam gurus be so scripted and honestly they come off to me as the mean girls that I would never actually like in person which is why I feel like I like you so much . Or they aren't really passionate about the things they say; I also think people fear being judged which kind of defeats the point of having your own platform . I'm tired of having to be woke in every video it gets tiring, I want to see people in their entirety , let me know you have anxiety too let me know about that depression. I know its easier said than done but that's personally what I want. Also I wanna see fun shit like favorite Insecure characters, Fave 90s sitcoms, Who's you problematic fave, Whats your favorite Girlfriends episodes, astrology, Who's your favorite black influence? What critiques do you have for the younger generation ?What old movies that you used to love make you cringe now? Do you think the divine 9 is overrated and made to make black students who aren't as socially popular feel less than, shit like that . ( that last one isn't really fun but i want tough topics dammit lol)

    I agree. I was thinking about this earlier today actually. I don’t personally feel inspired to create and I don’t really watch a lot of black UA-camrs anymore. It just doesn’t do it for. I’ve always admire how you never seem to take the platform too serious though. Great conversation as always! I miss the old days when people would just get up here and talk before all the “brands”.

    Im only on the makeup/natural hair side of black UA-cam and it very boring everyone is just reviewing weave that ALL looks the same. Natural hair side is OH-KAY though. I wish black UA-camrs did more alternative or editorial makeup looks instead of the IG trend ..everything is def looking the same.

    Teanna just uploaded a video about the white side of UA-cam and how it's boring and reused. I like how y'all support eachother 💞.
    But tbh I don't like black relationship UA-camrs like queen & Clarence. Or colorist UA-camrs, most people like to sweep colorist behavior under the rug.

    • @abbb8238
      @abbb8238 6 років тому +44

      Choclaxe Xuri You consider Queen and Clarence a black UA-cam couple? They’re not black. They might be that 2% black but when I think Black couples I think Jackie Aina and her Dark Skin Ghana Bf.

      @KaniyaButterfly 6 років тому +5

      Denesha Abigale I thought Clarence was African American and Queen was biracial ? I barely watch them but I seen clarence on twitter alot and he identifies as AA. Im confused 😭

    • @abbb8238
      @abbb8238 6 років тому +37

      Kaniya Kaily They better stop. They both look racially ambiguous. It’s like me saying Karrueche Chan represent Black Women, I can say Rihanna or someone like Beyoncé or another Chocolate/Dark Skin Women. They don’t claim black only when it’s beneficial. Queen used the term nappy head to describe some black girl. Clarence don’t think black girl can pull off light pink lip color cause we’re burnt.

    • @instava3.h363
      @instava3.h363 6 років тому +1

      Oh sorry for the confusion, they were just the first people that came to mind as so many black people watch them and hype them up. I watch Jackie and Dennis but she isn't a couple channel.

      Denesha Abigale I heard about queen doing that but not Clarence. wow, its crazy because so many black women praises him in his tweets and what not 😭. Honestly sis, I see the desire to be a self made brand and business among our community, because it reclaims a lot of what we end up giving away for free by influencing others, but we are losing ourselves to conformity to meet general audiences. Don't these UA-camrs realise, they are just doing us but paler? Let the audience connect to you, not the other way around. Stay blessed, I ride for your channel and keep talking that talk, truth hurts, and pain can be a good thing when coming from love.

    It's hard though. I upload content and talk about real stuff and no one watches. I upload a wig review and BOOM thousands of views. I wish I saw more Black female UA-camrs working together. I know it takes a lot of work but I would really love to watch it. I find myself watching Joe Budden and random docs now. I'm overrrrrrr makeup tutorials and reviews. I do not need another damn palette. I do not need another damn nude lipstick. The only black UA-camr I watch consistently is Patricia Bright. I don’t know if you guys know Kingsley but he uploaded a video today talking about something similar. His UA-cam name is Kingsley lol. Black UA-cam is like real life honestly, a lot of people trying to do the same thing but not really doing it for the right reasons. They see others making money and think they can do it too. Everything isn’t for everybody.
    I really enjoy you because you’re one of the realest on here. You like what you do and if you don’t feel like you don’t do it and that’s fine with me. You get to the bag but you realize that UA-cam not giving you benefits so why stress over it. I love you and your energy ❤️

    Iv'e been feeling the same way with Black youtube the lack of substance and originality was driving me nuts. But! heres some Black UA-cam channels that never let me down:
    - The Grapevine (Discussion panel that speaks on black related issue, Highly reccommend)
    - MazeLee (Mixed family, moms black dad asian with 6 kids, with impeccable cinematography in EVERY vlog)
    - MaryJane Byarm (Travel vlogs, she's planning to visit 100 countries before the year ends!)

There are some black debate channels which you can tell it’s mainly for views due to the topics, drama etc. Whereas the grapevine speaks about real issues in the community and doesn’t exploit viewers by using small moments in the clips as a mean of gaining publicity and blowing up drama

    I like conversation videos and I actually thought about making those videos myself because I can’t relate to most of the popular “gurus”. I feel like most people are bandwagon jumpers, jumping on the next best thing or dang near worshipping some of these “gurus”. I notice the non-over-the-top YTers don’t get much play on here. I miss old YT back in 2008. I was a new mom enjoying an outlet that seemed sincere and genuine. Now tho. Everything is sooooooo money driven that people are more enamored with high end bags, extra large homes, expensive cars and the showy display over a nice, humble and refreshing personality. I dunno, just one grown woman’s perspective.

    Being a UA-camr especially a black UA-camr I find myself having to be a Jane of All Trades. My videos have to be both entertaining and over the top because I make typical “beauty, lifestyle, fashion” content. Every video has to be a motion picture so I won’t be pushed to the back. It’s tiring. Just recently I had to take a break to regroup but then I find myself being more anxious that I took a break.

    I really miss the black storytellers of yesterday's youtube. People like brian bee, Qaadir Howard, marfmellow, Kid Fury..some of them still post infrequently or have moved to other more lucrative platforms which is understandable. But those were the original "story time" videos -- they were authentic and hilarious and watching them just felt like kickin it with a friend telling you the latest bs in their life.
    I think Jouelzy, Evelyn, Hallease, Beleaf in Fatherhood are making some of the best videos on youtube atm

    I've literally grew up on YT & watched so many great black youtubers, they literally were my childhood. I go back searching for them and of course they're no longer on here which is fine. But I also feel like it comes from the pressure of these other youtubers and the fakeness thats on here. All the people who are genuine don't get the amount of love and support that they should. Instead they turn to becoming fake just to be popular and it saddens my soul. I want all the genuine, beautiful black youtubers to come back and shine the way they used too. Of course you have to get your coins at times but it shouldn't change your entire character of who you are the way these people do nowadays.

    UA-cam used to be so much funnier and entertaining back then because everyone did what they loved genuinely. They do it cause the coin. They didn’t do it for clout. They didn’t do it just to do it lol. They did it to make people happy and for entertainment. And I just think that’s what yt and black yt is missing. The genuineness. Although yt has evolved beautifully with all the hair care tips, and cheap hauls and people sharing stories of many alike etc...I still miss that genuineness and something new to find on yt besides these corny ass pranks and these cheating ass boyfriend these females like to share LMAO. I’m just over it. I love your yt page and shit you deserve your coin overall. You work hard and make it easier for us with certain things when it comes down to it. I appreciate that and I LOVE your yt page. Anywho, #preachsis.

    Can I just say that I’m SUPER excited to hear that you don’t have plans to quit UA-cam in the future? To think that we will have the pleasure to grow and simultaneously watch you grow makes what you present that much more special.
    For Black UA-camrs, honestly I am enjoying the mental health, empowerment, self improvement, and lifestyle videos because I feel like seeing those meaningful positive representations is refreshing versus the “us” that society and public media would have us to think that we are. I love growth and growing with people, and to think that we can all share experiences and tips to live our best lives- THATS what I’m into seeing.

    I definitely agree, black content creators have to do so much more just to be even scrape the surface. Lots of time, black youtubers have to be involved with some sort of drama to even mentioned on an everyday level.
    For example: 4yallent (the richard brothers) are so creative and and EXCEPTIONAL editors and the barley post but when they do it’s always quality content, but they don’t get the recognition they deserve. *honorable mention is Bri Hall
    And you: you provide such a safe space for young black people to speak on certain this and become aware of certain things, we otherwise wouldn’t have the option to do. Your aura and your personality is so super hard to describe but you do so much more for us than you’d ever know. ❤️

    The black side of UA-cam is definitely not as good as it used to be. It’s really hard finding youtubers that are authentic and transparent. I would also love to see more skits!
    Some of my favorites channels other than yours are: Teanna Empowers, Adrian Xpressions, Kennie J.D., The Grapevine, F0XYHOTMESS and Tre Melvin. There are more but I can’t think of them at the moment. All of them are different but amazing for different reasons.

    I can honestly say, I miss raw black UA-cam!! Like you mentioned there is a lot of "branding" on UA-cam (Which I understand, because ppl are trying to make their coint) but all the commercial bullshit becomes draining !! I swear, your UA-cam is SO refreshing. Every time I watch a video it's like I'm just chilling in your room chatting with my homie, another east coast (I'm from Jersey) black woman who I can relate to so much. I don't know if it's just the ppl I'm following or what, but I get SO much satisfaction from a chill vibe. Especially on days where my own personal world is filled with chaos, just chilling in my room, watching your videos, and listening to someone who I find very relatable IS SO IMPORTANT !!! I value you and your channel SO MUCH !!

      I also wanted to ask if you or any of your subbies know of any other black female UA-camrs from the Tri-state area ( New York, New Jersey, Philly) that are pretty consistent with content on UA-cam that I can watch ?? I follow a lot of ladies from Los Angeles & the South......and though I enjoy some of their content, their daily lives aren't retable to mine !! I want to follow some ladies from my area that can talk about "east coast experiences" or even fun places and restaurants that are accessible to me !!! Waking up and going on a shopping spring on Rodeo drive, or going to Disney land isn't something I can do, but hopping on the train and going to that new lit hookah lounge in Brooklyn or Philly is something that I can do !!!

    I completely agree. I feel like non black youtubers can do the bare minimum to become a star. Its become harder and harder to find just real down to earth black you tubers. I thought I was the only one who wasn't really interested in boyfriend tags and updates... like it just so scripted at this point. What I would want to see is more vulnerability but thats probably not going to happen because of social media and people judging which can be very hard on anyone with a stable following big or small.

    In the words of Juicy from Little woman LA “CAN YOU COME UP WITH SOMETHING ELSE CAN YOU COME UP WITH SOMETHING ELSE??!!) I know it’s easier said than done but everything is so repetitive (& I understand for many it’s a job but instead of taking a leap of faith that is easier to do when your a youtuber with a solid subscriber base ppl want to play it safe) we do not need the same tutorials over again when all you might do is change the comb & a different product unless it’s something live changing... I’m on UA-cam way to much I will admit but I’m just looking for people who are creative or at least honest ... I will compare it to music and artists I listen to if I don’t feel what you are saying I don’t care & don’t want to come back.

    I just wanna see realness from black UA-camrs, not storytimes and drama but life lessons and deep talks. I like how you talk about mental health and relationships and real stuff not showing off with makeup and cars and fancy holidays, it's all fake from a lot of these Instagrammers and UA-camrs and it perpetuates a consumer culture which makes the general public think we need more stuff, we need this lavish lifestyle but actually we just need to talk and think and enjoy the real things in life

I have been debating on becoming a UA-camr for so long and I have talked down on myself because I don’t “fit in” constantly telling myself that people can’t relate to me or I’ll be “that girl” whose life is complete shit compared to the way that everyone portrays themselves! I’m 25, I just had a kid, my child’s father is a asshole! My family sucks, I bust my ass and I cry a lot! But in the meantime I’m tryna boss up and live my best life and take care of mine.

    I gravitate towards UA-camrs that are authentic in their content and approach; be it beauty, fashion, or straight talk. This is why I come back to channels like yours and Joulezy, Evelyn, Just Call Me Wah etc. My dream is to have certain UA-camrs on a panel just discussing current events or anything! You, Joulezy, AndrianExpression, King of Reads, and so many more. I feel like the YT has lost depth and original ideas. Its been saturated with nonesense tbh and there's no take away.
