@@homenetworkgeek192 Yes I did and they make sense. Spent 11 years with hp in total, had to leave recently due to health but those concerns are now gone. I was heavy on the laptop, desktop, server and large format printer side. I'm no expert on networks but I could always work with those in the know to get a non working system to talk again. Spent time in the ATM field also which has it's own unique set of networking issues although in the last couple of years it has come more up to date with the real world. I have been working with computers since 1989 or prior and did run a multi-node BBS for 7 years back in the day. I have been using non-managed switches in the past and recently purchased a Tp-Link T1600G-28TS and looking to put on the bench to start playing with features before putting it into service for my home. I realize this is not your normal "Home" type switch but you have to start somewhere to learn more about networking. Could be you know this switch and can put out pointers? I think people will look to your channel in the future for low and higher networking knowledge. I have watched a number of your videos and they are very well laid out and if you continue; you will go a long way on UA-cam. Whatever you do don't get discouraged keep the content coming and you will go places. You have the right attitude that is for certain. Keep up the great work...

is there any notable security advantage from a network segmentation perspective in using your desktop over your home wifi network versus ethernet?

Go to your webbrowser and type it's admin panel address, such as "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.1.2", and it should bring you to the page where you login, it'll be a default like "admin" "admin" on some routers, or it would be on the back of your router on the sticker.
make sure your not on a VPN when trying to access the panel, as your Network needs to "see" your computer.

3:10 *_"as a result you have to manually type the network name very time you want to connect a device"_*
You have to be more specific, to avoid confusion among beginners. Most devices will remember the hidden SSD they were previously connected to and will automatically reconnect.

You completely ignore the fact that people could invade the local network via the internet. Wifi is major risk, but so is your (ISP) modem which is connected to the WAN, you completely ignore this. This a big minus of your video.
