I only own the deck and Tarot Guidebook, I bought my guidebook used on eBay very cheap. I'm totally obsessed with studying this deck now after seeing your video, all your fault, haha! But so far I love the guidebook becuz of its directional interpretation for upright, reversed, left, and right. Perfect for the subtleties of reading round decks. I have 3 round decks but I know there are many more out there. Happy hunting! : )
Ahhahahahah! NOOO! I didn't want to get into all of this left and right and reversed and bottoms meanings ordeal :D (pfft.. now I will of course :D the interest is sparked already) I didn't even think about those, this deck is the only round one I have. I'll see if I can find the books as used first.. also taking from what I now know: the workbook / playbook thing is already oop and not too easy to find in EU areas (I see them in US but the shipping cost of $50-103 is not cool hahaha). Thank you Katie! I will hunt myself all of them books (and I regret nothing if I enabled you to study this one more hahahahahaaaaa!!!) Knowledge is power! =)
Have owned all the versions of the Motherpeace decks and books plus other books by Vicki Noble. Recommend the book : Motherpeace - A Way to the Goddess through Myth, Art and Tarot by Vicki Noble. This book is fundamental to the deck.😊
Thank you Jules!! I'll get that one (but is the Making Ritual with Motherpeace Cards... book also good/needed for the rituals part, how do you think??)
Have seen that book but not that impressed with it as it does not seem to add anything more to the previous book mentioned. If you want something as well as that book , you could try to get the Motherpeace Playbook which is OOP.😊 By the way , the book you mentioned is published in a later edition 2003 called Rituals and Practices with the Motherpeace Tarot by Vicki Noble.
Looks like everyone is suggesting the A Way to the Goddess through Myth, Art & Tarot. as the best choice too. I'll go for that one then and if I get the chance to get me the Playbook one at one point, I'll grab that as well =) THANK YOU Jules for the help!
I have all the books. The guidebook is not needed - not much more than the LWB. Go instead for Motherpeace - A Way to the Goddess through Myth, Art & Tarot. This covers each card in detail. Ritual and Practices with the Motherpeace - interesting look at different spreads for health, love etc, plus how to work with the deck on a daily basis. The Motherpeace Playbook (OOP but easy to find) for indepth chakra and astrology work with the deck. I've not had this deck long but am really enjoying it! x
I shall go for the Way to the Goddess through Myth, Art & Tarot book then, this one seems to be the one that everyone is rooting for, too. Not knowing better- I would have gone for the Rituals.. book first, now I've learned it's not maybe the best option. And trying to find myself the Playbook as well =) Thank you Mel!!
This is my fave deck....I had an apartment fire a few years ago where i lost all my tarot decks.... and pretty much right away i got a mini motherpeace deck that came with a guidebook... that i gave to my friend who had her mother's Motherpeace deck and was just really getting into the mother peace ...its a decent little book if you have none of the other ones...I have gotten the other three books i used to own...... the Mother peace tarot playbook and the rituals and practices with the Motherpeace tarot which are both totally different...the rituals one is different spreads and rituals and the playbook is way more in depth but still but i still dont think it would be as helpful if you didnt have the book i got first... i personally is the best one for really going in depth on the symbolism and imagery and the feminine archetypes and the cards meaning and the and really on how the cards and how it came to be, is the Motherpeace A way to Goddess thru Art and Tarot By Vickie Noble , I don't know if i would have gotten so into the cards without that book...To me it is a must have with the motherpeace deck, and really helped me learn how to read this deck...because you are right it is its own thing the motherpeace. So happy for you.... Enjoy the motherpeace i think its such a healing deck !!!
So be it! Everyone is considering the Way to the Goddess through Myth, Art & Tarot the best one and most insightful one as well. I shall get me this first =) And then try to find the Playbook as well if I get the chance to stumble upon it. The apartment fire and loosing all your decks.. how awful :( My heart sank when I read this.. I hope you have recovered/re-found the lost decks.. I could not imagine.. not only did you loose the decks, fire usually takes all else too :( Thank you so much for reaching out and also sharing your story and experience, it means a lot!
I own all books by Vicki Noble and for me personally the Mother Peace Playbook is the best. It’s tarot and astrology based and brought me the most impact insights to this deck. Unfortunately it’s OOP and so I hope you‘ll find a copy ;)
Awh.. it's just my luck to start thinking about stuff when it's out of print hahaha.. I'll keep my eyes open for it! The playbook was the one I was thinking when I said workbook thing :D How do you feel about the Making Ritual with Motherpeace Cards book or the Uncoiling the Snake one? Thank you for answering!!!
My Life And Tarot Making Ritual is the more usual one. It’s a book - I guess - every MP readers owns. Uncoiling the Snake is like an essay of shamanic healing stories. All books are great! But I have a crush on Vicki 🙈 she finds the right words in the perfect situation. She opens up my inner woman... But honestly, for me, the best book ever from her in regards to the MP is the workbook or playbook. You learn a new “structure” of the Major Arcana and so a very new level of connecting the cards. Since this book (and a perfect description from another author) I understand the Courts. You find descriptions for all directions - for all cards. Great layouts (e.g. chakra reading!) and astrology! And you are “forced” to play with the cards and fill out the exercises. Wonderful! I wish you aaaaaaaall the best to find a cheap copy! Although it’s worth every penny you invest in 🙏🏼✨😘
THANK YOU so much for your insight and help! I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Playbook and will get myself the Way to the Goddess through Myth, Art & Tarot first as this one seems to be the best of them available ones according to all the replies =) Blessed you be and thank you once again!
I love my Motherpeace! I bought a mini because it was a bargain, and then *had* to buy a full-size copy. :) Vicki Noble and Karen Vogel worked together on the creation of this deck. I have Karen Vogel's book "Motherpeace Tarot Guidebook". It gives brief information about the symbols and activities appearing in the cards, sufficient for using the deck for readings, which is all I require. But if you want to use it for ritual, I would recommend getting Vicki Noble's book "Motherpeace: A Way to the Goddess Through Myth, Art and Tarot". I don't have this book myself, but just "looking inside" the book on Amazon, I can see it gives much more in-depth information and background about the concepts that led to this deck's creation. There's also "Rituals and Practices with the Motherpeace Tarot", "Making Ritual with Motherpeace Cards: Multicultural Women-centred Practices for Spiritual Growth" and "The Motherpeace Tarot Playbook" which seems to be the first book, (all by Noble), but I have no experience of these. Hopefully others watching will be able to give you some details about them.
Thank you Judy! Looks like I would need maybe all of them :D as they all add to the knowledge from different points of view. The Making Ritual would have been my first pick.. And the Playbook seems to be out of print now (just my luck hahaha) - I'll keep my eyes open for any of those- I would prefer to use the deck for different sorts of 'readings' in the lines of: what rituals should we apply upon this time and need etc.. =) Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Mine is the regular size one (the mini seems too tiny for me, although it's probably better to carry around). Which one did you end up using more, having both of them?
I use the regular ones more because it's easier to see the details. But if I'm using them to post on Instagram, I'll often use the minis because they take up less room to photograph, LOL.
Ah! :D Instagram! What's your handle on IG, I don't think I have seen anyone use the Motherpeace much on my feed.. So it might be that I have sinned and am yet not even following you on there :( But I suspected as much- the mini is not better because of the images and details etc.. Maybe when the deck is known by heart and the carry around one is needed... I don't know if card stock would also be different.. the German one looks like an older edition.. really papery smooth stock.. I wonder if the newer editions are a bit more laminated or not, perhaps you know?
I'm weirdeye on IG. Don't expect to see much there, though - I've been very quiet lately, with Tarot and in all social media. My larger cards have a light, faintly textured lamination, as if they'd been sprayed, if you know what I mean. And the card stock is on the thin side. That said, I've just sat them next to an 80s Aquarian Tarot and they're exactly the same thickness. Maybe they just seem thin because, being round, they flex more. ETA: Just found you there. Following! :D
Ahh.. I haven't been on InstaGram yet to find you.. the thing is acting up on me lately and freezing my phone :( But indeed, I had the Karma tarot from 1980's and the stock is really similar- the sprayed feel, I know what you mean!! Indeed, that's it. They are great to handle though! =) Thank you so much for all the insight you gave.. I'm now getting a better understanding about what all the books are about and what are their differences.. Hugs to you!!!
