I will never forget watching Super Bowl 42 at the frat house when I was in college in Indiana. We had one bro from New York who was steadfast in his Giants fandom for years. We were all surrogate Giants fans with him because we were Colts fans who fucking hated the Patriots. When we realized in the second half that the Giants could actually pull this off, we started taking turns going into the back room to load ice water into a cooler without the Giants fan's knowledge. When the game ended, a few of us snuck up on him and gave him the full winning coach treatment. He loved it, and he didn't even care that the water destroyed his 2008-era flip phone.

They were 10-6 and clinched a playoff spot in Week 16 (rendering their last game against NE worthless in regards to their playoff standings). Dallas was the number one seed in the NFC, the Skins were the other wildcard, and the 8-8 better than their record Eagles were nipping at their heels, and with all that, they still made the playoffs. And lets look at the 6 games they lost: They lost two to Dallas, the number one seed in the NFC. They lost one to Green Bay, the number 2 seed in the NFC. They lost one to the undefeated NE Patriots in a game that meant nothing to their playoff standing and played them hard till the end. They lost one to the other wildcard team and division rivals, the Redskins in a bad weather game where they insisted on passing all game instead of running. Their only true disaster of the year was the fiasco against Minnesota. My point is, it isn't like they were losing to shitball teams. 4 of their losses came against teams that got a 1st week bye in the playoffs and they only lost to one team that didn't make the playoffs. In my mind, that put them at playoff worthy but not likely to go all the way. So the experts picking Dallas and Green Bay and New England over them...okay, I understand those. For example, seasons like the previous one where you have pretty much the best and second-best (and it’s really hard to debate which is which) teams going at it.
Ambient Heaven, nope. On any given Super Bowl Sunday, the team that makes the key plays are the best team. When I look at two teams, I mainly look at match-ups. That Giant team along with the one in Superbowl 46 matched up well with the Patriots. There are two things that the Giants did to the Patriots. They first stopped them from being undefeated in the most important game of the season (Superbowl) thus making them 18-1 and as a 9-7 team 4 years later, they stopped the Patriots again. In that season, the 9-7 Giants beat the three teams with the best records in the NFL that season (Green Bay, New England, and San Francisco). No other team can make these claims!
Ridiculous statement as everyone still brings up this team and even has them higher on "all time great" lists than the actual SB winning teams for New England.

i mean... it was the 18-0 patriots who had tom brady+randy moss and a hell of a defense that was an assante samuel drop away from completing the 19-0 run, anybody with common sense thiught the patriots would win but the giants came in and pulled off a miracle 3 weeks in a row
In my honest opinion, this run was much more impressive than the 2017 Eagles. The '07 Giants had to go on the road 3 times. I repeat, THREE times, and then had to face a record breaking 16-0 team in the superbowl. That season must have been fun af for Giants fans. As a Saints fan, I would prefer to have a similar scenario to accomplish the 2nd ring like that. The 2017 Eagles were no joke, however.
You been fortunate to have drew breeze all those years though, he has been right up there with brady, and Rodgers but doesn't quite seem to get the same recognition.
As a Giant fan I always felt that the Pats deserve that undefeated season more than the Dolphins,, I'm just sorry it was my Giant that destroyed it for you guys,, I know that really must have hurt..👍✌ That's the only thing I regretted about that Super Bowl win..
As a Giants fan, I remember the exact moment I realized that the Giants had a real, serious chance to beat New England and win the Super Bowl. Second quarter, Giants down 7-3, Patriots' ball, they go three-and-out, and while the Giants didn't have a sack on that particular drive, they knocked down Brady on each down. After the unsuccessful 3rd down play, Brady got up, turf in his facemask, walked towards the sideline, looked at his coaches, and shrugged his shoulders with his hands in the air, as if to say, "What the fuck is going on here?!?" I immediately thought to myself, "Holy shit... he's already rattled... they might actually win this game."
I remember this Giants run & their 2012 Superbowl run. I'm not a Giants fan but I rooted for them especially when they played New England....twice. I remember back when the 2007 SB run everyone was up the Patriots ass(which was understandable because they went undefeated....) Whenever you tell a professional football team they have "no chance" to win a game especially in the NFL where any given Sunday is no joke, you are setting yourself up for failure. I love an underdog.
Jon Snow fuck you. Giants won it fair and square, I admit that. I like seeing them champions. Just not against my team. I'm not saying fuck the giants cause they beat us and your saying fuck the patriots and they didn't even win.
I'm so glad someone made a video of this. I remember this playoff run in detail seven years ago. If you were a Giants fan you knew they were going to take it all the way the second they made it to the playoffs. The Giants started the season 0-2 then picked up six straight wins. What's even greater is that they beat the undefeated patriots when it was all on the line. It taught me to always be resilient. This year changed my life. The 2007-2008 Giants will always be my heroes. Giants for life.
bruh and as a cowboys fan it taught me that no matter how great things are going there is still room for disappointment, that 07 season will always be the time romo actually had a chance
@@Grimreepa220 he said it was 6 straight. You misread. He said he remembers this playoff run 7 years ago in full detail then mentioned 6 straight wins after starting 0-2. The 0-2 was against Dallas and Green Bay and they gave up a combined 80 points in those 2 games. Got revenge on all 3 of the same teams in the playoffs after beating the bucs. Dallas, Green Bay, then the Patriots. Ill never forget that season. 11 was amazing too but this will never be topped.
Im a San Diego Chargers fan........But to tell you the truth the '07 Giants run is the greatest Superbowl run I ever witnessed....Eli Manning knew what He was doing when He rejected being with My Chargers. Much respects
I just loved the feeling this season I got after seeing Eli and this team come out every week and shove it down all their throats. Such an amazing Super Bowl win.
I love it. Haters flip-flop on how this team was in its success. On one hand, they were lucky, on the other hand, people act like they had the #1 highest rated defense of all time. They had heart and got healthy at the right time. Any Giants fan who watched them play the Pats the last game of the regular season knew they could go toe to toe with the Pats and anybody once they got hot. They say Eli was carried, yet his stats for both runs were phenomenal. They can't stand the Giants won this one or the rematch.
Idk why they said he was carried when he had the highest rated completion % in the 07 run and he had like 15 TD in the Fourth QT in 2011 run so his defense helped but he had as much of the reason of the success than the defense
This shows that with proper offense and defense leadership and everyone synced in, anything is possible for these guys! Strahan was one hell of a leader, they need that again! Go Giants!
Webster50 So many games we woulda won in 2015. I wanted the win over the patriots, but that heartbreaking dropped int from LC killed that. Brady be 2-4 against the giants. Though he's still 2-3 Vs Eli.
I wish they had included Tom Brady's smug ass in this video when he laughed at the prediction of the score for the game. Im so happy the Giants beat his bitch ass not once but twice in a Super Bowl!
"We've had a great run so far,no one's given us credit, but we like it that way" - Eli manning. It really shows he was a giant, and also I think embodies most giants Fan's feelings for every season we've done good in recently
ktw5086 Eh, it's a 50/50 shot no matter how you look at it, and on paper there picks were right... the Giants in 07 simply had an unbelievable amount of intangibles and a will to win. That doesn't always translate into stats on paper.
Lombremic. I am not sure why you got so upset at my observations. Maybe we all need to relax a little more. As for 'Due to lose'. It is very rare for a team to go undefeated in a season and then continue that in the playoffs. The Miami Dolphins are the only team to do that. Prior to them 2 other teams went undefeated in the regular season and then lost the NFL championship. Also I did not think the Pat’s were playing as well at the end of the regular season and in the playoffs as they were earlier in the year. So that is where due for a loss comes from. Not a guarantee but a feeling. And your reference to the Browns. Winless seasons do occur more often than undefeated seasons. 3 winless, tieless seasons since the mid 70's. Frankly they are easier to accomplish. As for whom I picked. I really did not pick anybody. I rooted for the Giants but I generally don’t bet on sports anymore. I think my thought was that the Giants would make it closer than the spread of 11 or 12 but I did not put any money down on it. Betting was never a big thing for me and I just kind of dropped it. As for your reference’ to go all in with’ I really do not play cards, I don’t go to Casino’s and generally don’t gamble that much or at all. It’s just not my thing. I like to do things outside like hike, ski in the winter and bike ride when warm enough. Put it this way. I am a Giants fan and I did not watch NFC championship game against the Vikings because I wanted to hike to do a particular snowshoe hike in the Catskills. Again I suggest you relax.
Angelina Justin If they were truly a consistent good team for the past 15 years than if you took out 2 of their best seasons they would still look good. However they look like a completely average team. Eli manning a regular season record is 108-91 that's 54% win. They are average. Even if you look at there playoff record,(8-4) it isn't very good. Considering that out of the 6 playoff seasons they have had since manning. In only 2 of them did they even win a game.
Never get tired of watching this. My Father died on 12/28/2007, he would he would've been so thrilled to see them win that Super Bowl. I loved how Strahan look Terry right in the eyes.
In the playoffs: 8-0 in 2007 and 2011, 0-4 rest of his career. Eli was always one of the best when he was on and one of the most frustrating QBs when he was not.
That was the most exciting playoff run and my favorite all time SB until my Hawks won. Still the Manning SBs were almost equal in joy for me. Practice starts tomorrow for the 2023 season getting psyched.
Giants have won a Super Bowl the last 4 decades. 1986,1990, 2007, 2011. Hopefully they'll get things turned around soon though and get another ring before this decade ends.
i love when strahan was looking at bradshaw directly in the eyes when he said, "I remember hearing someone say the giants have a false sense of confidence, NO we have confidence" they shut the the world up that night, one of the best nights of my life.
The Giants 2008 Super Bowl win is one of the greatest moments of my entire life, the Helmet Catch is still the greatest play in NFL history, this was one of the greatest Cinderella stories in sports, it made me proud to be a Giants fan and is everything I love about football and sports in general, and I love how history repeated itself in 2012, it's just too bad my mom made me go to school and wouldn't let me go to the parades lol.
The Philly-Special is the greatest play in history. Mainly because it was a designed play and not circumstance. Greatest catch absolutely. Not the greatest play.
This never gets old.Jimmy keep on saying that talent win games. But if you add the 2012 playoff, the teams we face did had more talented starters than the giants but depth was different and was the key for the giants winning the 2 Super Bowl.
+Hugh Jass The way it was told to me- I'm not old enough to remember the barren '70s Giants- the Giants and their fans didn't hold quite the contempt for the Cowboys as the other NFC teams because Tom Landry took care not to further embarrass the Giants in those days. Those only old enough to know the Jerry Jones Cowboys wouldn't understand. Personally, the first game I ever saw was between the Cowboys and Giants. It was so good that, not yet understanding the dynamics, I considered them my favorite teams. When Montana and the 49ers knocked them out of the playoffs on consecutive weeks, the 49ers were cemented as, and remain, my most hated team. By the 90s, I'd long since dropped the Cowboys but, as someone had to beat the 49ers, politics made for strange bedfellows.
Why was Brian Westbrook interviewing Eli? Weird seeing as he was still an active player, and fucked us up the next season. 2008 still makes me sick. Fucking Burress. We would've repeated had he not been a damn fool.
I'm not a NYG fan, but I remember watching them play towards the end of their regular season and through the playoffs. They looked good and beat many teams that they shouldn't have. One of the greatest Super Bowl upsets ever, too. I still remember how everyone was already crowning the Patriots as champions even before playing the Super Bowl. Almost nobody gave the 2007 NY Giants a chance to win the game. Watching Jerry Jones being disappointed warranted a "like" for that alone.
For what it's worth Deion Sanders regularly said "I believe in Eli" prior to that 2007 super bowl win. Deion was the only one I remember with anything positive to say about that Giants team
I’ll never forget this! From Tampa to the SB! Lost my voice for like 2 days.. damn we need these days back! Win as underdogs but comeback next year and dominate! Like they did in 08 till Plaxico shot himself in the leg!
Im a Dolphin fan living my whole life in Brooklyn NY. I was 11 when the my Fins had the only perfect season in NFL history. I cherish it as much as Larry Czonka. I raised 2 boys who were 16 years old & 13 years old in 07. One is a Giant fan. The other a Pats fan since the age of 5. We all watched this SB together. At one point the 2 boys almost came to blows. When the Gints won, me & my son hugged & celebrated. My little guy had an angry cry. Then that great commercial came on with the 72 Dolphins. Perfectville Population "1" Love Eli & company for doing this!!!
This is so nostalgic man my dad introduced me to Football when I was 8 because of this Super Bowl Run and I’ve been a die hard Big Blue fan since. 2:54 Oh I love this guy. He basically said that the Giants played well, but the upcoming game isn't going to be close because Brett Favre and Lambeau Field are magic.
What they did will never be forgotten. They won 4 road playoff games and beat an undefeated team. But the best part of this video was Terrell Owens crying...puts me on the ground every time.
I am a very long long time New York Giant football fan and super bowl 42 was one of the absolute greatest super bowls ever and the best part about that whole game is after it was done not only are New York Giants world champions but the Giants team and all New York Giants fans throughout the world and one voice get to say perfection denied
*The Super Bowl win after the 2007 season wasn't the Giants 3rd World Championship. It was their 7th (and they now have 8 world titles as of 2020 after the 2011 season). Prior to 2007, along with the Super Bowl wins after the 1986 and 1990 seasons, they won the NFL Title in 1927, 1934, 1938, and 1956. Those championships before the Super Bowl era still count.*

That's really cool.
As a gambler i could never take the talking heads seriously. Its a different ball-game when you have money on the line, much respect to the G-Men.
I'm a giants fan and I knew the giants were gonna beat the pats in the superbowl. The last game of the season told me everything I needed to know. The bucs, cowboys and packers were just road bumps in their way.
If someone betted money on the Giants to win, they must be filthy rich now.

Jason Witten was so salty with his prediction, I bet he was rooting for the Patriots to win that game.
Thats why we sent his team crying home that season.
that's because Jason Witten knows he's never gonna win a ring, if he wanted it that bad he should have played it safe with his career in dallas....

MrJiffyPOPPOP
Is that even a question though? Congrats to the Eagles, but I laugh when their fans say how “underestimated” they were.
"Now I wanna be your dog!"
You been fortunate to have drew breeze all those years though, he has been right up there with brady, and Rodgers but doesn't quite seem to get the same recognition.
I so agree. Probably a part of it has to do with the whole "Bountygate" BS ever since.
MrJiffyPOPPOP - yes it was fun ..week after week was epic in the city good memories...I can tell ur a true fan of football...thanx

@Jon Snow get used to it lol i mean honestly, aren't every fans are dicks? :P it's a nature of being a fan lol
***** nah it was 6 straight look up the 07 schedule
bruh and as a cowboys fan it taught me that no matter how great things are going there is still room for disappointment, that 07 season will always be the time romo actually had a chance

I just loved the feeling this season I got after seeing Eli and this team come out every week and shove it down all their throats. Such an amazing Super Bowl win.
Jerry Jones face: priceless.
The perfect meme
Go Giants!
Romo went to Cabo during the bye week. 😄😄. Giants got no respect that playoff run

"We've had a great run so far,no one's given us credit, but we like it that way" - Eli manning. It really shows he was a giant, and also I think embodies most giants Fan's feelings for every season we've done good in recently
Oh boy!! I love it!!!!!! The Giants took over the league that season!! What a magical year!! I was so happy to be alive during all this!!
The only person to get a pick right in this video was Frank Caliendo with SB 42. These guys are some "experts".
ktw5086 Eh, it's a 50/50 shot no matter how you look at it, and on paper there picks were right... the Giants in 07 simply had an unbelievable amount of intangibles and a will to win. That doesn't always translate into stats on paper.
Haha right? Why would you possibly pick a 16-0 team against a 10-6 team?
Because a 16-0 team is due for a loss. And they were not playing great in the playoffs.

The giants are one the worst teams in the past 15 years.
john john two super bowls and we are one of the worst teams ok then
Angelina Justin If they were truly a consistent good team for the past 15 years than if you took out 2 of their best seasons they would still look good. However they look like a completely average team. Eli manning a regular season record is 108-91 that's 54% win. They are average. Even if you look at there playoff record,(8-4) it isn't very good. Considering that out of the 6 playoff seasons they have had since manning. In only 2 of them did they even win a game.
Amazing how the NFL hates the Giants. Let's Go Big Blue!!!

yes really and thats understandable because everyone hates them for whatever reason i guess youre just like everyonelse
