Props to my friend Jack Stavris, who let me use a few seconds of one of his videos in this video. Granted he hasn't actually seen what footage I used and I've done with it yet, but I'm sure he'll be a good sport.
Oh wow, ive ripped a few of these out in Australia and replaced them over the years, before I appreciated old phone tech. They were branded Commander (from the gov owned telco Telecom) and then later models Nortel. Cool videos Flo, sorry for reviving an old one :)
excellent video my friend, been looking for one of these things but couldn't find a whole lot of info about it. Thanks for such an informative video ;3
But the "loud plastic clacking" is part of the character of a Norstar page! :-) I have also seen some phones that put Q and Z on the 1 key. PQRS on 7 and WXYZ on 9 didn't become standardized until the mid-1990s.
since you got your phone pbx system it has really been kicking me into high gear on wanting to combine my 3 phone lines (home bissnes and cell) to all the phones in my place, i have found this a OHO-PBX SP-208 for around 30-40 bucks
Cool video, i volunteered at school that took over en existing school. Norstar Modular ICS I was able to connect a PSTN line on the patch panel that labeled "TRUNK" (1 pair) when i dial the school the system rings and i get their old voice mail, i can each Extensions and the system transfers it. However on the Extensions when I dial 9 i can not call out, just silence, any tips?
Make sure it's choosing an external port that has the actual line hooked up to it. It could for example be picking up Line 1, when you actually have the line wired as Line 2. Another possibility is there could be a custom code that's not 9 to get onto a line. You would have to go into the admin programming to check/change that.
If you're interested in some more phones for your system, I'm selling off some of my extra equipment on an eBay store and would be willing to lower the price too. I haven't gotten a single sale of any of the Nortel equipment that I have listed and would really like to get rid of it.

Now I anticipate eventual revenge. :P

Can you call into and remotely administer a Norstar PBX via external phone? Probably not without additional modification I assume
