Hey Tim, thank you so much for your guided post shoulder surgery recovery series. I have been following these series ever since I had my arthroscopic laterjet surgery on my right shoulder 13 weeks ago. Your videos have given me confidence and hope for great recovery. I have a question in regards to when to introduce foam rolling as well as massaging near the area of surgery. For instance foam rolling under the arm. In asking this I may have already started do so and I have been experiencing greater mobilty but I am worried if I have sabotaged recovery of my shoulder 😅. If you do get the chance, I hope you can back to me and share your thoughts, if not it's all good. Anyway thanks again. Really love and enjoy your content!!!
Hi Tim, is this really your post shoulder op 11 week? I almost bursted into tears seeing how you could move your left arm at that stage. I had shoulder surgery (for tendinitis calcarea) 10 weeks ago (July 6th 2021) and I cannot raise my arm much above 90 degrees, overall limited mobility and sharp pain, pretty much as bad as before surgery. Anything I do with it (exercise included) gives me pain at random spots in the arm either instantly or later, usually at night. Is there a playlist on this topic (shoulder post-op rehab) so I can watch/follow your earlier exercises? I am a bit depressed about my situation right now, that my left arm is mostly decorative and not really functional. Thanks.
Yep it sure is. I work hard at it. Follow my program for all the exercise and guidance: www.physiorehab.com/rehab-programs-shoulder-injury-surgery-rehab
I love your videos for rehab of shoulder surgery but I am a little discourage as where I am at 120 days post surgery for torn bicep tendon, very badly torn rotator cuff, frozen shoulder and debri everywhere. Doctor says it will take anywhere from 6-12 months with PT to recover. I can barely lift my arm out to front let alone over my head. I do a lot of your exercises that has been given to me by my amazing Dr. Chris Stanek of Premier Physical Therapy in Clearwater. I see him twice a week and he spend the whole hour with hands on. I know I am gravely improved but kinda got discouraged looking at your videos. 😢
Hey Tim I know this and older video but maybe you’ll see this comment. In your opinion how long after surgery would you say you were able to pick stuff up from like a counter height or the floor. I need surgery for posterior labral tear and I have a one year old at home. Trying to get an idea how long it will be before I’m able to care for him by myself. Examples picking him up out of his crib, laying him down to change diapers, picking up out of high chairs and off the floor etc… thanks in advance!
Hi Tim I'm at week 12 from labrum repair, bicep tenodesis and subscap repair. Just curious if you recall getting much clicking (no pain) when moving your shoulder. I'm still only completing active range of motion but lately getting alot of clicking in my shoulder.
Since you’re ahead of me, did you have full 60° of motion in external rotation? I’m really worried because I’m 14 and want to play sports again. I have everything but I’ve only got 35° on external. I have my 12 week coming up, and worried i won’t get cleared.
@@sofiadvis I took a really conservative approach to my rehabilitation ROM was not great at 3 months. I focused heavily on letting my repair heal strong and not over doing it. 3 months onwards I really ramped up the stretching/ROM and began strength work. Before this I did almost no band work and just minimal stretching and ROM. 3 months on I hit it hard 2-3 hours a day rehabilitation. At 5 months mark I started swimming freestyle very lightly and then my ROM came in leaps and bounds. 6 months I'm doing push ups and chin ups. Slow and steady in the beginning it's not a race. The last thing you want to do is damage the repairs.
@@bena6921 HOLD UP- you can damage the repair post 3 months? I thought it was already healed by then. So since I did indeed get cleared, my therapists are really pushing me. Like I’ve thrown 3 days in a row at 90 feet and my arm hurts so bad and it started popping again which I’m kinda worried about. Still don’t have external rotation. Do you think I messed up my repair?
Was this an overuse injury, traumatic event, or combo? I'm 23 and just had my labrum done on the right with RC most likely needed on left... Ive been extrememely active my whole llife but cant imagine why id have two bum shoulders and torn ligaments in my foot with no connective tissue disorder... i eat healthy, focus on form, etc..
I'm at 3 months after shoulder surgery I still have extreme pain, my physio manipulated my arm to raise all the way up so painful and now I have extreme ripping pain in my shoulder and cant move my arm. I hope the anchors haven't torn. I still cant do bands etc to painful.
Depends on what pain it is. People will have some sort of pain through to 24 weeks. It usually lessens and changes. Have a look at my rehab program if you get stuck: physiorehab.com/rehab-programs-shoulder-injury-surgery-rehab

How often should these strengthening Exercises be done? Everyday or a few times a week?
In week 11 you are doing work every single day

Clicking will happen until you get enough control and strength back

When is full out sprinting and changing direction on the table again?
For shoulder surgery?
Shoulder labrum surgery yes. Does the arm movement not put it at risk?

Do you think it’s possible to play a ten pound electric bass within three months of having a bank hart repair?
Probably more like 6-9 months

6 months
For how many months do exercises for rehab need to be done? Thanks
