Full credit to you Pete, both for completing the Ironman but also for putting this video out showing your feelings about this. As someone who took up running in his 50s and now runs ultramarathons, (50 miler across the Lake District in July!) I complete agree with you that it’s about just getting out there and doing these things in order to keep the body and mind going…. age is just in the mind 😊👍
Peter…one of the most moving films I have ever watched.I can’t swim, ride a bike and DVT mangled my legs in 2002/2013 and at 75 my “Iron Man” days never even arrived! I should have been like you at 50 and in many ways was..I still walk fast, run up hills, climb steps and get down them fast but not on your level. We do share one thing though….my heart was with you before your Start…since 2000 I have suffered panic attacks…not many, not for medical reasons but I have got to understand how much they hurt…and I felt for you because I could guess your feelings and fears. Yet..you won…you beat them..I try to do the same…when you cannot face something..just do it…don’t stop…and it works as you now know. That is far greater than taking part..it is the mental challenge. May I also say that I was so taken by Tracey and her warmth, concern, support, enthusiasm and love for you…I some films I sense she is tense and nervous…in this we saw the real Tracey…..it was wonderful to watch. I write too much too often when you have limited time but Peter…a huge Well Done to you and to Tracey…that was a special film…the best you have ever made. Now….rest…then how about…Lands End to John o’Groats on the bike with Joe with you…can you do it in 72 hours???😱😱😅😅😅😅😅 Richard. (I’m at Goodwood on Thursday because I cannot do the other days so hope you might be around somewhere!)🤞🏼🤞🏼🙂🙂🙂🙂
What a fantastic achievement Pete!Overcoming your anxieties and fears would have been such a challenge, especially on the swim. You’re an inspiration to all of us to try and be in the best possible mental and physical state that we can achieve. Well done again😊👍
Congrats. It brought a lot of memories and emotions. Done full Ironman klagenfurt in Austria and Roth in Germany at the age off 40. Same idea 👍 Well done.
Massive congrats. What an achievement and thanks for taking us on the journey from the buildup to the actual day. The honesty about your swim just shows you do go all in and makes the film real. Brilliant!
Well done Pete, great achievement 💪💪, you pushing for a full Iron man?? i mean you're halfway there 😜......Your footage has definitely inspired me to book an all inclusive holiday, thanks 😂
Well done Pete. Excellent effort and well done overcoming the mental side of the challenge. Brilliant video, well done Mrs pp for the commentary and support.
Very well done Peter! I am 65 and can still run a 5K in 22 minutes. Last October I ran a half marathon in 1.54 with only cycle training due to an Achilles injury. It's great that us ageing men can still do these wonderful events and still be reasonably competitive.
FANTASTIC cannot find the words to acknowledge your achievement. You undoubtedly conquered both the mental and physical challenges, you have my deepest respect. Love to TG for the amazing support.🥰
Well done Pete. Fantastic achievement, fantastic video. Sharing your emotions, thoughts and feelings in such a transparent and candid way made this one of, if not the best UA-cam video I have ever watched. Respect 👍👏
Well done Pete, I knew you would smash it. What a great guy Graham 👍 is for helping you. Tracey was absolutely epic, she had me shouting out words of encouragement too!
Peter, I am in huge awe of you, I really am. Hats off to you. You showed nigh on every single emotion right from the start of the video. Thankyou for taking us along, thanks also to T for capturing the heart and soul you ploughed into the challenge. 🤜🤛👍🇬🇧🙏💕 Donated 👍👍👍
Apologies,I am coming late to this one as I was away on holiday last week and had no signal on the ship. But very well done on completing this event.A fantastic effort and result and some good money raised for a very worthy cause as well.
Nice one Pete, it will definitely be an Ironman next! I've done 6 half's and 2 full ironman races now they are addictive!! I have had major anxiety issues on the swim in some of my races, following a near drowning issue as a child, its overcoming these fears that make the sense of achievement when you finish so special though.
What an achievement Ped and congratulations on completing it, like you said, nothing about it is easy! Training and stamina, definitely hard going. The bike looked awesome, definitely a good investment! Well earned rest now 👌🤓
Congratulations from me on an epic challenge completed. Tick. Thanks for taking us along with you. Looking forward to all your future content as usual.
Amazing work Pete. I had also just turned 50 (4 years ago) when I entered my first (and only) Ironman 70.3. So I can empathise totally with your trials and tribulations you’ve shared with us, leading up to the start of your race. Unfortunately I missed the final cut off (by a couple of minutes apparently) with just 6km of the run to to go. Watching your video is inspiring me to maybe give it one more go.
I was out there playing golf last week. Big waves on Thursday. Played Marbella course on Thursday 26c and sunny. Well done You in that heat. I headed home just when You were arriving.
super kudos to you...great effort and time....the swimming always put me off triathalon, , so completely empathise with your anxiety before and during the swim. catching all the clips in the lead up was really good to see, and thanks Tracy for your support.......Ironman!

She also trains triathletes. I've only done three regular 42.2km running-only marathons. You have SUCH admirable mental strength, discipline and physical courage. I need to follow your lead and the lead of my trainer! Aloha!
