This video brings back so many memories. I worked for a software company in Delft 15 years ago and Delft seems to be my second hometown during my stay. When I see this video today, I remembered the streets I walked, the markets I've visited, the canals I've crossed and the same church with the old clock is still there. I've even ventured as far as IKEA store across the highway. Thank you so much for this video Dennis, you'll never know who you've touched by all your travel videos.
Hi Nicky, I might move to Delft in some time for my work. Can you please share you experience on how this city is suitable not just for tourism and sweet walks along old town but for living. I think if I need to rent some place, it ill be somewhere outside the old part, so how is the life quality for non-tourists there? Did you like it? Thank you!
I lived here in Delft, Nederalands for over 10 years. I loved it, and the people were awesome. Most speak English, and I do speak some Dutch and made friends quickly.
Unforgettable experience visiting there. I loved the old center with its cobblestone streets, going to the museums and learning about The House Of Orange. I had a winter soup on that square in a little pub on a cold winter day. Such a simple meal but one of the most heartwarming culinary experiences I've ever had in my life. Looking forward to having that same meal on a regular basis. If your mind is blown by being in a 17th century atmosphere, you can always take the bus to IKEA Delft. This is one of the best travel vlogs I've ever seen. I appreciate the details and nuances you took the time to include. Thank you!
Europe is the best. Steeped in thousands of years of history. The architecture is stunning in each and every country in Europe. 👍👍👍👍👍👍💕💖💟💓💞💝💜💛💚💗👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
l Love and respect Dutch people, they are very friendly especially if you travel together with your family always will help you. They have a patients for kids and doing they best for them, from merchant to ordinary people.
I plan to visit Delft the next weekend, your documentary is very precious ! all details and the way you speak about Delft are a real pleasure ! Thank you for this beautiful and interesting video.
Ik hou van Delt's Blauw en ik heb een aardige collectie van Delft's Blauw hier in huis.....!! Daarbij ben ik op mijn verjaardag hier in Delft......waar ik jaren geleden ben geweest.....!!
I work at the TU-Delft, our building is 3 km from the centre, I love visiting the old city centre, especially in the summer sipping beer outside in de beestenmarkt!
I am very well impressed with your report abou Delft. You help me to see nice details that would probably go unnoticed. I am planning to spend a sabbatical period in Netherlands. Thank you, Dennis!
What George from from 9 to 7 forgot to tell is that city hall is where the municipal council is held and the local parties have "fractiekamers" where councilmembers can work. There also is a jail/ torture room in it's tower which dates back to 1200 and was there before the rest of city hall.
One of my favourite cities. Old and new together in harmony. I watched a heli drone deliver a Defibrillator to a heart attack emergency situation, instructions were given over a loudspeaker on the Heli drone, all ready for the emergency responder when he arrived within minutes by bike, right in the central square. Nice people, beautiful city.
Ha, my schoolmate George from my primairyschool at 4.31 Our school stood on the spot where now the Vermeercenter (witch is a new building only 20 years old) is and half of the Markt was our schoolyard. The school was named Jan vermeerschool offcourse.
Thank you for an excellent tour of Delft, we are hoping to be there this April and I have learnt so much about this city from your video which would have taken me a long time googling all this so thank you again
I really hope you made an Amsterdam video in the same format at this delft video. I would love to see the areal view of Amsterdam with someone explaining where you are in the city and the route you would travel. I really loved that you did that and had to immediately comment. I haven’t watched the whole video yet but I hope this is constant
Yes, I am making a new series about Amsterdam with a similar comprehensive approach. You can see two of them now, about the Nine Streets, ua-cam.com/video/B9Alx-OaoDE/v-deo.html and Jordaan, ua-cam.com/video/z8I52eiK4mY/v-deo.html More will be coming in the near future. Thanks for your interest.
@@denniscallan ha I’ve already watched both of those videos last night after this one. They were great. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Amsterdam.
Nah it can be really cheap actually. Do some research on a travel website. Of course a fancy restaurant in the center of the old town isnt going to be cheap, but not crazy priced either. But if you are on a budget there are plenty of options. Get some fried fish at the stand you see in the video for example. Hot , fresh and good size portions.
Johanes Vermeer is one of the most boring hotels I’ve ever been. No activity ad light evening every second Tuesday of December. I lived on the Molslaan for 10 years across the street from that hotel. Plus you missed the BEST cafe on the Beestenmarkt Kobus Kuch. They have the Best apple pie and coffee in town. There is not only an market on Thursday, also on Saturday but then trough the entire city.
My mom & dad plus my grandparents where born there. Your program gave me many memories of Delft. The prince of orange got killed there in the early 1700 ?
An extremely interesting video! I watched it on 11th May 2019, just a few days after the Dutch Tourist Board in effect said, 'Please do NOT come to Amsterdam - it is too crowded. Please visit our other beautiful cities and our lovely countryside.' (Compare the point you make at 4 minutes into the video.)
There are options to Amsterdam, near and far: Alkmaar, Amersfoort, Arnhem, Breda, Delft, Den Haag, Deventer, Dordrecht, Groningen, Gouda, Haarlem, 's-Hertogenbosch, Hoorn, Leeuwarden, Leiden, Maastricht, Middelburg, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Schiedam, Utrecht, Zutphen and Zwolle.
We call him Willem III, also known as the protestant defender. Any idea if the Thursday market in Delft is open on King's Day?
Probably not as there are festivities all through town and the centre is crowded with people.
you can do it by fiets :) why did`nt they walk further then the gate at the prinsenhof? Delft is much bigger then shown here.
everything seems pretty but why are the canals so dirty?
it's not dirt. It's seasonal vegetation, plants.
